Who is the second most powerful country in the world: China, or Russia?

Who is the second most powerful country in the world: China, or Russia?

who fucking cares

...

NATO can BTFO Russia/China in a war so easily that it doesn't matter.

>russia anywhere near china or US
great meme my friend

This.

Russia.

New Pakistan apparently.

India.

Why is there a 10 point gap between the brits and us ? Is it because of the commonwealth meme ?

Do you want to say that the most is America?
Foolish American pig dude

Without a question, China. But I wish the world order could return to Russia and Japan fighting us for dominance.

Russia

>Japan
When was Jaoan ever relevant?

1. Philippines
2. America

Probably something to do with the fact that you guys share the Great European Plain with multiple other countries and the UK has the Channel separating them from everyone.

It's the finance and the fact that English is the international lingua franca. Surprised to see Canada in front of India (and behind Australia), though.

when US threw wads of cash at Japan to prevent it from "falling to communism" and ends up creating a powerful competitor

Russia by nukes. China by every other measure.

>Surprised to see Canada in front of India (and behind Australia), though
That picture has to be pretty old now, with Indias GDP, population, close proximity to 2 regional threats and this whole South China sea thing, they'd be way out infront of both of us.

And we're only ahead for a handful of reasons. Main ones being something about Canadian PM's have sort of neglected military spending for a while and we've increased military spending over the years.

>and ends up creating a powerful competitor
Japan isnt a powerful competitor. It creates high end commodities but lacks any natural resources, so it relies on other countries imports to thrive. It also has to import to feed all its people, the Japanese Minister for agriculture has said Japanese produced food can only feed 66% of the population. And 90% of Japans energy needs come from foreign sources.

The whole Japanese expansion thing Pre-WW2 was because they needed energy, oil and resources.

By geopolitical influence Russia is more powerful

No I think China overtook them sometime in the last decade. Russia still has influence in the middle east and eastern europe, but China has influence everywhere, especially and increasingly in Asia, Africa, Oceania and Europe. They're making moves into South America as well.

Russia just doesn't have the economy to be as geopolitically important as China anymore.

>Russia still has influence in the middle east and eastern europe

Syria isn't whole ME and Belarus isn't whole Easten Europe. Russia barely has any influence outside of its borders.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

People think you have influence because you make big flashy moves like sponsoring civil war in ukraine and bombing people in Syria. But these are signs that Russia needs to take drastic steps to exert its influence.

Real influence is what China does, buying politicians, investing in countries' infrastructure and corporations, and slowly redirecting and draining the resources and wealth of nations. That's real influence, and China and the US are the big boys of influence.

the US

country - russia
block - EU

>big flashy moves like sponsoring civil war in ukraine and bombing people in Syria. But these are signs that Russia needs to take drastic steps to exert its influence.

Well they kinda both go hand in hand. Both Ukraine and Syria are power plays by Putin, a geopolitical exchange. You stay out of Ukraine and we'll stay out of Syria, it's the same deal Putin offered Obama.

>Real influence is what China does, buying politicians, investing in countries' infrastructure and corporations, and slowly redirecting and draining the resources and wealth of nations. That's real influence, and China and the US are the big boys of influence.

China is a lot better suited for the soft influence as seen with Taiwan, but in the event of wartime, or the tense lead up to, China suffers far worse problems than Russia ever will. Russias influence tried to benefit and protect the heartland. Chinas influence tries to woo others to its side and weaken those who dont. But that leaves China very unprotected and very limited to what it can do.

chiel

>UK
>above China
Why?

Yep well considering China does have Nukes, if they can keep their peaceful rise going, which really everyone wants, then they are playing the long game and playing it well.

any particular reason why Turkey is ranked the lowest on that list ?

>France
>UK
>Russia
>USA (Recent)

>if they can keep their peaceful rise going, which really everyone wants, then they are playing the long game and playing it well.

They have no choice but to do it peaceful. Any fights they pick now are ones they cant win, not at least until they make a navy that can compete with the US's. But that wont happen for another 35 years and the US will spend that time making sure they wont catch up.

>and the US will spend that time making sure they wont catch up.

are you sure about that? seems like the US is becoming ever increasingly dysfunctional to get anything done

He's australian so he's most likely a chinese.

as chinese born indognistan, I say
CHINA #1

>are you sure about that? seems like the US is becoming ever increasingly dysfunctional to get anything done
It seems like that, but only in the short run. Right after Trump was elected he pledged to upgrade and supersize the US's military presence in the Asia-Pacific region to fight a "two ocean war" so "China cant match us". With the Presidents 2018 budget and the NDAA's drafted by the senate and the House Armed Services Committee, a focus on Asia and strengthening the US's military presence in Indo-Pacific Asia is priority. Along with 'improving military readiness', 'Sharpened focus on Space, electronic warfare, and cyber capabilities' and finally 'an oversied focus on ballistic missile defence' with the reasoning all in some way relating to Asia.

>second

China for sure.

Russia is not even in the top 10 most powerful anymore, even Brazil has more power.

LMAO
Had a good laugh there mate. Nice one

Russia for sure. It has the nukes and that’s what’s really important in the end.

China of course. Most people and largest economy. Even Canada has more money than Russia.

USA

...

Wow.

India

This. India could totally wreck China and Russia.

China unfortunately, those subhumans. That's why America must stay strong for the Western civilization.

>even Brazil has more power.
lel, your country is Africa 2.0.

>Russia is not even in the top 10 most powerful anymore
Power isn't only about GDP, there's also a diplomatic power, cultural power, military power, historical power etc where Brazil is nowhere near Russia.

When posting things like that,
ALWAYS PROVIDE SOURCE.

>Trusting America to defend Western civilisation
Yeah, we’re all fucking doomed.

China and it's not close. Russia has a smaller economy than Italy.

The USA

and the most powerful being?

Economy isn’t everything.

that said, i don't know how to stop a population of 1.4 billion without nuke which is cancelled out in the case of a war between china and russia
