Frantic 1988

Borderline B-movie,there are few scenes that trigger this question hard.
Also does anyone know why the statue falling from the roof wasn't re-shoot?
Is it supposed to be some kind of dry joke?

I really enjoy this movie. The seedy locations and shooting style makes the move stand out.

I hope you are joking.
Acting and the mystery in the first half was the only thing that was driving the movie.

He's just comfy. And I've known guys who've learnt french just to talk to quirky cute faced french chicks so it's got it all. I'll happily rewatch this every now and then.

I agree he is but the support actors including his wife were so stiff.

>Harrison Ford thought that "Frantic" was a misleading title for the film as the script didn't have a frantic pace. He suggested that "Moderately Disturbed" would be a more appropriate title.

Well he wasn't wrong.
For some reason ffmpeg doesn't want to start,I wanted to get a clip from the movie to show you the scene I though it was badly made.

What an odd thread this is.

I know right,no blacked jokes or RLM circle jerk.

Are you using B-movie as an insult? Most Kinos are b-movies.

No man just I expected much more from a praised director.
It seriously hits that 80s budget title style and if Harrison wast in it might as well be so.

Polanski loves schlock though.
He played a French detective in Rush Hours 3 ffs.

Well I guess its justified then.
Still very off putting.

You have your Chinatown, Knife in the Water, Rosemary's Baby or The Pianist but then there's Frantic, 9th Gate, Ghostwriter etc.

Yes I understand now, thanks for clearing this mystery for me.

kys faggot it was better than Chinatown
>god tier music
>god tier acting
>Emmanuelle FUCKING Seigner
>based Harrison Ford
>the mystery, the atmosphere
>Paris
>great plot

>Frantic, 9th Gate, Ghostwriter
what's wrong with those movies? they were great

BEST POLANSKI MOVIE EVER
NORMIES GET OUT REEEE

I take you have never been to Paris?
And mystery was good in the first half.

Knife in the Water is schlock.
But it's in Polish so people call it high art.
Of course it's a well-made movie as well.

I completely forgot why the woman was kidnapped.

Something to do with nukes?

>schlock
>only lost at the Oscars to Fellini's 8 1/2
kys

STRANGE

That was awkward as fuck, triggered some real flashbacks.
Great scene overall,I just love how the arabs just stand there and watch him.

that's what great about Polanski's directing

yeah hate on that movie kissless virgins
you will never dance with this femme fatale in a Parisian night club

no bags got mixed up they though she was the one carrying the package(nuked).
The number on the bag was the one of his wife, they called at her home first and they tracked her down to the hotel thinking she was the courier.

It's a movie about the clash of cultures first. The plot is not important.

Yeah this was one weird film. I only remember the "shoot out" in the end.

Oddly enough I remember it fondly

Ah.

I seem to recall it really being a lackluster conclusion.

Thats a stretch, unless there are some director interviews backing up your statement I dont see how it would.

People hating on this movie like they've never seen this piece of shit Polanski's schlock

It was, seemed like they were running out of whatever money they had and ended up abruptly.
But everything got resolved one way or another so its not really important.

>only lost at the Oscars to Fellini's 8 1/2

Means nothing, he could have filmed a turd on a plate for 1 hour and 30 minutes and the Oscar jews would have hailed it as a masterpiece.

This was Polanski's comeback movie after fleeing the country for drugging and raping a 13 year old girl.

>This was Polanski's comeback movie after fleeing the country for drugging and raping a 13 year old girl.
Which one?

>only lost at the Oscars to Fellini's 8 1/2
Thats not any better now is it.
Self centered jerkoff thins everyone should bow down to him.
But I guess hits right at home when every director and actor in Hollywood is like that.

>shit actor Harrison Ford
>shit actress Emmanuelle Seigner
>shit plot
yeah how could this have gone wrong?

Probably because yelling "THATS MY WIFE" in post production audio with added reverb as he exist under the bridge to meet the kidnappers leaves some kind of mental trace.
I laughed heartily.

I downloaded this and really want to watch it, but there's no good subs.

i don't remember a single thing about this apart from harrison ford meeting a couple of peeps in a café towards the end

We can all agree that Witness is true Harrisonkino?

>We can all agree that Witness is true Harrisonkino?

Yes, apart from a somewhat anticlimatic final confrontation which was paint-by-numbers.

Also Maurice Jarre's 'building the barn' music was heavenly.
