I’m doing a 302 to 460 swap in a 96 f150 any advice?
I’m doing a 302 to 460 swap in a 96 f150 any advice?
get mechanic
Yea, go to >Also, swap the front suspension from a crown vic ppv.
460 is a signifigantly heavier motor so i would opt to find a donor f250 and swap over front end parts
Why?
Start with a chev..
Or just a get an f250 and sell the f150 to someone that wants an f150
I want something no one else has (or at least very few people) also I already have the f150 and I’m gonna have to rebuild it anyways so thought I’d have some fun with it
Think you already had everybody beat just with the paint job
A 460 is a boat anchor. No appreciable power gains over weight to hp. Be prepared to upgrade your front suspension, transmission etc. It's not worth it.
It’s 2020, you have a 1996 lime green f150, thats pretty cool and different. I’d keep the smaller engine myself.
It’s not gonna be a daily driver, just a Saturday night cruiser. I just want it to be stupid loud and stupid fun, also it’s a project truck so money and time don’t matter.
>so thought I’d have some fun with it
if you are so new to cars you come here for tech advice this project will bring nothing but pain and suffering in your life.
I’m thinking about taking the 460 and boring it out and putting a longer stroke on there to make it a 512 then putting some straight pipe behind it, my state doesn’t have a sound ordinance and I don’t live in an emissions county
Had 94 with a 302 like that. Just cut the front 2 cats out and out a flowmaster 10 with dumps on itnin front of the rear end. You’ll be happy.

Just because you’re new to cars and don’t have any advice to give doesn’t mean you have to troll, also I know plenty but I haven’t done this swap before and apparently very few people have and there’s not a lot of forums for it so I thought maybe someone in the wide world of Sup Forums had maybe seen this swap before
where in Mexico do you live?
East Texas
Paint it a color that isn’t hideous.
The stock 460 is nothing special for power , but if you put good parts in it you can make a lot of power. Concentrate on the heads and improved airflow , I have a 557 making over 1000 hp with no power adders , but also have 7 grand in just the heads and it’s in a ford ranger lol
i never thought i said this but that Greta girl has a point
I’m gonna drop it down low put a clear pearl coat on it to make it an electric green then put some underglow on it (I’m thinking pink because it’ll pop with the green but I’m not sure)
I plan on spending a lot, somewhere between $10k-$15k
Why not do a 9.2 deck 351 bored and strokes to 450ci? Lighter and same power potential
I already have the 460 block lined up for cheap, I just didn’t want to get into this and have a whole bunch of clearance issues, so far though the only clearance issues I’ve seen with this are the exhaust manifolds and the oil filter but both are easily managed, and I’ll have to move a cross member on the transmission but that’s no big deal either
Does anyone out there have any cool projects they’ve made from these obs fords?
You could build the 302 to as much horsepower as you can ever need for less money and less weight.
Just do it in a 250
But where’s the fun in that?
You realize how much work it's going to be, right?
May as well put a modern motor in it.
Oh I know how much work it’s gonna be, I’m gonna do most of that work myself (and before anyone asks yes I know how) everything except any fabrication work and if I bore it out I don’t have the tools or machines for that
I’ve seen tons of 302’s and bored out 302’s 302 boss swaps and 302 strokers, I want something different
