shieeet
Which shows are not gonna make it?

Anything not in the can now. Why do writers have a union anyway? Fuck unions; they are anti business

Good, hire some good writers for once

I dont think studios can. The Union controls all the writers and can black ball line crossers. Fucking Unions have no purpose anymore.

>we're going to see another era of TV like Heroes season 2 and Lost season 3

I don't know how Hollywood works but this seems pretty fucked up

So then hire a bunch of nonunion ones like last time

and people say antisemitism isn't rampant in america

Looks like American Gladiators is back on the menu, boys!

What happened to that VA strike in vidya? Had no effect at all. What a bunch of pussies

Still going. They want fucking royalties for voice acting, they're never going to win

Great.

More reality TV.

Last time the strike killed lots of shows.

Checked. Even reality TV needs a room full of hymies to hash out what drama the goyim will engage in this week.

They can get an intern walking by with coffee to decide which "adventure" the "star" can go on.

>If you want to use our Union workers, you can't use nonunion workers

Nope, they're fucked.

Unions are cancer.

I don't really get this one. The original strike was caused by how blatantly writers were getting fucked over with the rise of internet video, not getting paid when their shows were put online etc. If this is just about wages in general I don't get how a strike will fix it.

This

Its about streaming video and, like everything in america, their healthcare.

>Retards on Sup Forums upset that other people have unions to collectively bargain for better pay and working conditions.
You know, cutting one another's throats in a race to the bottom helps nobody but the share holders.

>If I shill hard enough for management, maybe they'll let some wealth "trickle down."

> Businesses should be held hostage
Fucking liberals

Good these generally mark a change in hollywood

>When companies sign contracts between one another to specify the terms, conditions, and pay for a service provided, it's good business.
>When individuals do it, it's holding them hostage.
This has nothing to do with conservative or liberal.

>takes a job for X amount a month
>"hey fuck you I want more now!"
>goes on strike
If the bosses just fired the fuckers it would deter the unions.

These writers pushed an internationalist agenda that exported millions of blue collar union jobs and expect anyone to care when they get fucked?

>Agents of Shield is why I don't have a job!

Will this be the second renaissance of Late Night Kino?

Nope. All those shows have a bunch of writers for them as well.

Underage

Yeah, but Conan actually became better during the last strike, sans writers.

What are you talking about? The last time there was a writers' strike even the late night shows went on a hiatus.

>be the backbone of the industry
>get treated like shit
>entitled assholes like OP call you "Lazy" and "Greedy"

top kek motherfucker do something meaningful with your life then get back to me

>unions suck

Unions protect the employee
Why the fuck are you dickriding the employer so hard?

user if they can't pigeonhole everything into their realm of false equivalence they get uncomfortable.

> Unions protect the worker
And kill companies. My state went right to work and took several manufacturing plants from union states. How is running away employers protecting them?

>killing hollywood studios is bad
Good goy

>And kill companies

The practices of companies kill companies, not the actions of the workers.

Gosh. I don't know. Last strike almost killed TV and its still in recovery now. And now that TV is facing serious challenge from internet.

I have a bad feeling that this would kill TV totally.

>2017
>support anti-union

>Unions protect the employee
WRONG, unions strangle business and rob workers with high dues that go to fund lavish union leader lifestyles

>He doesn't know that "right to work" really means "right to work for less."

My union job gets me paid more than $20 an hour more than a non-unionized worker. All for about $115 a month in dues.

But the unions killed the jobs and tbose people now make nothing whereas right to work states have jobs.
Its almost like extortion isnt sustainable in a free market

This post is incorrect. Bad unions hurt business and employees. Good unions benefit both parties by protecting them.

>Cutting my fellow workers throats in a race to the bottom is a sustainable business model.
Look at yourself. You're pathetic.

Why shouldnt someone else be free to compete agianst you? If you make 20 whats wrong with allowing a new guy to work for $10? Thats freedom.

>But the unions killed the jobs

The employer removed those jobs, not the union.

He didn't say that. His post reads: "My union job gets me paid more than $20 an hour more than a non-unionized worker. All for about $115 a month in dues."

There's no competition. If I worked for a non-unionized business in the same industry I'd be making like $17 an hour. I work for a unionized workplace that engages in collective bargaining and make $42 an hour. Feel free to go make less than me because you don't want to engage in collective bargaining and let the company pit you against your coworkers.

Retarded americucks, stay away from any discussion involving workers rights until you get at least 4 weeks of paid vacation every year.

>4 weeks of paid vacation every year

what nonsense is this?

When there was a writer's strike we got the GOAT Conan

Non-shill link

What a socialist hellhole your nation must be.
A month off each year? Fuxk off

You make too much money. If you made less products would be cheaper and everyone would benefit, you selfish prick. You are stra gling innovation

>You make too much money

You are in no position to say what is and isn't an acceptable wage though.

My employer agreed to this wage for us providing our services. It's capitalism at work, my man.

The free markrt should set wages but unions distort it, just like the minimum wage

>Engaging in negotiations and signing contracts is distorting the free market.
You're so deluded.

>The free markrt should set wages

They do already though.
Employer can pay a shitty version of someone $10/hr or they can pay the going rate for a good worker $20 or $30 an hour.

Unions are the best thing to happen for employees and employers since they exist to establish the appropriate equilibrium of supply and demand.

Ea h emplotee should compete against each other for work instead Unions enable lazy, entitled workers a safe haven. I bet the guy working for 10 an hour is hungray and wanting an opportunity so he would work hard

>Ea h emplotee should compete against each other for work

They do though. People are naturally competitive

You can work hard, smart, or both. People coming together to negotiate a better contract collectively have a lot more power than each man trying to negotiate his own pay.

Why should the employer get to have all the power in negotiations?

>I live to work for my like masters

My "masters" pay higher than the going rate for my line of work. If you were employed you'd understand why being paid top dollar for your work is a good thing,

We Postfags will hate their guts if they strike. I'm ok with them authorizing the strike though, as a show of unity and confidence in their leadership.

>I wanna earn money so that I can enjoy my 2 free days a year

Because it is the employers job. He writes the check and makes the decision. An employer should be able to fire anyone at any time for a y reason nit be held hostage by demands from his subordinates

just what i want from a bunch of unemployed neets, discussion about jobs

L O L get a fucking clue you trump-voting cunts. how do you think wages were so good in the 50s and 60s?

So in retaliation you'll strike for better pay.

Everyone wins except for the greedy people at the top.

>2 free days a year

lelel Someone's not gainfully employed.

>tfw I only have a highschool diploma, make $42/hr, have amazing health insurance, 401(k), employee share purchasing with an employer match, company paid $50k life insurance policy, and 20 paid vacation days a year.
Feels good, brah.

>>only HSED
>no sign of college debt

da real mvp

Wages were good during that period because the rest of the planet ruined itself in WW2 and we rebuilt the planet not because some greedy dicks extorted people.

Pimpin' ain't easy, brah. I just make it look that way.

>mock 4 weeks of vacation
>b-b-b-b-but I have more than 2 days

You fucking retard

>not because some greedy dicks extorted people.
Lol what?

Unions are very greedy

I desperately want this to happen

>watch any shitty movie
>6 writers

Why.

Probably never actually had a job in the industry.

>Constantly bitch about studios putting out nothing but crap
>Immediately take the side of the decision makers responsible for that shit when employee dare to ask for better compensation

As expected of a nation that consistently makes decisions against its own selfinterest

Some unions protect workers. Some unions actually hurt workers by creating a whole new level of management.

Also, if Unions were so good, why are they terrified of people being able to work without joining a union?

IS THIS THE TIME FOR /screenwriters/
to get an agent?

29yo LA area....surley theyre gonna need anyone they can get??

shhh, one day they'll realize how uninformed their spicy opinions are when they get real world experience

>good goys
>ever becoming informed

>only write shit
>demand more money

That's right goy!Writers need lower wages, more work and less vacations to write better!

Lost was on season 4.

what's the deal with the writers strike?

>they can't write
>they have yet to deliver a single hit

writers being lazy sounds like the plot of hail Cesar in this bitch

> i demand 6 months paid vacation
> more money than harder working people
> and to only work 1 month and have the other 5 months to watch tv in the office
yeah writers deserve all this

No more late night shows for months!!! yes! yes! yes!

That's a good way to make sure you don't end up working later on.

This here, unions enable laziness and entitlement

>needing a month off of work each year
You're welcome for the Marshall Plan by the way

They want better royalties for streaming, a different payscale for shorter TV seasons, to maintain their pension/healthcare plan, and to be able to work on other TV shows if they are not actively writing scripts for one they are currently staff on.
