Managers and companies may not fear collective bargaining in itself, but they do fear the courts. And it's a lot easier for a collection of workers to put attorneys on retainer than it is for an individual.
People say that unions are an institution of the past, but as wages continue to stagnate against increasing costs, less people are possessing a marketable blue-collar skill set, and more and more laws are passed to protect corporations and their lobbyists, then I think that unions are still a vital necessity.

Hahahaha the past three employers I have worked for-- all companies held in very high regard among the general public-- lecture us on the first day about how if we join a union we are basically jeopardizing ourselves out of ever moving up/having job security in the case of layoffs. Then there is typically a 30 minute film on how evil unions are.

I read up on them. Apparently, the lender on the reservation would provide the loan and then sell it to some other agency that wasn't on the reservation. It's almost like off-shore betting services.
