Good answer. Watching that film did actually feel a bit like playing Dark Souls.

Idris Elba

None joke. Also nice Quads.

Mad Max Fury Road

>What is the Dark Souls of cinema?
for some reason i instantly thought Dark City - because of the title similarity - but then i realized they are pretty close, both enveloped in mystery and with a gloomy atmosphere.

Dark Souls is inspired by Berserk

Wt ring you got bithc

Bloodborne/The Void is better

It's got lots of berserk easter eggs. But the two aren't actually that similar other than being 'dark fantasy'.

That image with half of Griffith's face and half of Gwyndolin's is also retarded, as the two characters have little to nothing in common. Glad you didn't post it.

Closest I can think of is Solomon Kane [2009].
Closer to Bloodborne though.

Qualities of Dark Souls

> actually a spiritual successor to something that did everything it did, but 2 years earlier. But most people claim the latter one invented all that stuff
> infamous for being "hardcore" and not easy to get into, despite being significantly more friendly than countless classic games which no one thought twice about
> mind blowingly good beginning and middle, but falls apart in the 3rd act. Final few scenes are great again though
> every single wannabe critic/theorist has done extensive analysis videos on YouTube all coming to basically the same conclusions

Are there any movies like that? Basically something non-original (but everyone thinks it is because the original was obscure), lauded as being super indepth and not normie friendly (but compared to older movies totally is). As well as being actually great for the first 2/3s and then falling apart. And overly analysed by amature critics.

John Wick

>for its time

Which was the industry shitting out nothing but baby tier difficulty games with no substance.
