My Chinese name would supposedly be used as my middle name on research papers etc. (I have a Christian name, then my surname, then my Chinese name). That's what happened to one of my HS teachers at least.
I really just want to remove my chink name and put in a self-selected middle name.
Every slav has a paternal name.

those are just second names, they can be whatever.
Those are second names, they aren't inherited after family members. Actually we often have three names - main (at the baptism), second (registered in the "civil acts", this one may be useful when one has common given name and surname) and another one from the confirmation we choose as teenagers. Still, none of them is similar to Russian "otchestvo".
