Grew up with Apoc Now Classic Version 1979.

Slow trickle of rumors about French Plantation scene in film magazines for 20 years. Pre-Internet rumor starvation and then early Internet rumor starvation.

Finally a photo began circulating on early web from 8th-generation black & white xerox of French Plantation scene. Holy SHIT IT'S MOTHERFUCKING REAL.

2 weeks before 9/11: Apoc Now Redux is released. Less than a month later, fucking nation on lockdown. French Plantation scene? Yep. Should've kept that shit under wraps. USA wasn't ready.
