Are teams required to run a highmount air intake or is it that much better than intakes in the sidepod that nobody wants to do it?
Do teams not have both sidepod and the highmount intakes? Highmount is good because it avoids dutty air from the wheels and wings, but is probably a bit more draggy. I dont think it's mandated but I think its the sound thing to do.

I believe that's correct. There is no minimum airbox size, but you need a roll hoop so why not make that drag do something.
Same as with the side pods but you need the side impact protection which sticks put and until recently you wanted that to do something for you too.

Renault had awful reliability and Jolyon Palmer for most of the year. They were also in a bit of a rebuilding phase last year. Williams this year should face much tougher competition, despite Lowe and De Beer working on the car. Stroll is hit and miss, and Sirotkin seems quick, but is still a rookie. Force India are a bit behind on car development, as they had to build a new chasis to accomodate the halo.

Williams on track for a massive ~50 point haul total on the driver standings. Which puts them in 7-8th. McLaren are moving up which bounces them down more.
Haas continue to improve bouncing them down again. Williams, Sauber, STR bottom 3 seems about right. Haas, Renault, McLaren, FI midfield seems about right. Same old top 3 seem about right..
