Knew someone years ago who spent ~£20k on loot boxes

België-um is doing goed.

wtf i love belgium now!

I always knew you were OK.

Your roads are still shit, though.

What game?

>Belgium says loot boxes are gambling
okay
>wants them banned
okay
>in an entire continent
lol

Why though?

Because American companies would abuse it to import stuff into Europe through Canada.

And there are worries about Canadian pesticides. And some retarded supranational court system.

>Belgium says
holy shit talking road

fuck leafs

>implying this country has roads

Why should I care about what a french state thinks?

Protectionism

That's actually a good point

Only in EU and they can do that if it gets enough votes in EU parliament.

Belgium, why are your trains so bad? You're rich, flat and small so there's no excuse. Even in Poland and Georgia I took better trains. The only trains I know which are worse than in Belgium are Armenian trains.

>gaming and gambling

Americans don't know the difference. Hence they call Las Vegas the "gaming capital of the world".

Dumb protectionism and anti-Americanism

Exhibit A:

I know, but that's silly. US states make their own gambling laws, so the idea of a multinational parliament representing actual countries ruling on such a thing is ridiculous to me.

Based Belgium, someday I will try your fries

*patat

this is such a dumb post that I can't even formulate an actual non-meme rebuttal to it.

>I can't even formulate an actual non-meme rebuttal to it

Give your best meme and non-meme rebuttal then

meme:
>let me tell you about your language

non-meme:
the usage of the word gaming to describe gambling does not exist anymore outside of old people and the names of some government agencies which regulate gambling. To anybody under 60 gaming refers to video games.

very nice, hopefully other EU nations get behind this as well

>
here I go killing again

Why? Countries have a higher status than states and therefore have more initiative in EU parliament, they would object if they weren't capable of doing this.

Thanks. Didn't expect to learn anything on Sup Forums.

Because we live carse too much, everyone has a company car here because it is better for taxes to the company than a raise. Also the train company is not handling the increased traffic on trains well at all. They were caught completely off guard. But what fid they expect from the country that has become the most confested region in the entire western world? Of course people would eventually get sick of it.

Because we love cars too much*

Does that mean EA is btfo'd?

you mean pommes frites

your roads are also shit mate compared to France/Luxembourg/germany/Netherlands, countries i often drive to.

gambling

EA sales should be banned on EU

Explain why it isn't

no, it is.

>what is federal law

>rich, flat and small
wtf I love Belgium now

Not yet, but at least it's bringing attention to the issue and made the Big Bad Mouse pay attention to what EA is doing with their license

They're getting attacked from all sides so they are in full damage control
Our minister of Justice has said on camera that he is going to move towards banning lootboxes in the EU

Why tho? You literally can't trust people to spend their own money?

It's 'protect the children!!1' moral panick
But honestly the games industry had it coming since they have shown no interest in self-regulation, fuck'em

Based Belgian heroes of the gaming industry know that lootboxes ruin games

Thank God America isn't this stupid

dog bless :'DDDDD

I hope loot boxes cancer gets banned trough out the whole of the EU.

And i also hope this affects all those shit mobile games too.

Worst country in Europe.

>ladyboyland

It's very hard to built and maintain roads on swampland.
t. Louisiana

>what is federalism

>I don't any idea how to respond to that so I just whine and try calling him a meme

GOOOD

Government regulation of loot boxes is not the way to go. It'll either not be strict enough so companies just circumvent the rules or they'll go way too hard and ban them outright and I sure hope no one is cheering over the government deciding how games should be played.
If anything the Battlefront 2 outrage should show that the market is capable of taking care of itself. Even if you disagree at least advocate for independent bodies, not the government.

Stem Vlaams Belang. Geen onzin meer..

Children play these games, they can easily get addicted.

You can gamble when you are 18.

I think outside pressure is necessary, there needs to be a big nanny that shows its ugly head once a company steps out of line to scare the company so it starts acting reasonably again, and sometimes if that isn't enough the corps have to be regulated so that the companies won't just ignore the threat

>be 17 years old in Europe
>bet 5$ on a game of uno
>Get arrested

What's your opinion on trading cards?

What is a lootbox?

Rude. He explained why I was wrong:

uno is serius bizness though

pay for a game and pay extra money for a virtual 'loot box' that you open that draws from a pool of in game items that you can receive

Biggest waste of money I made.

It's not just Belgium who says that. I think France says that too, and I've heard such opinions from the agency that fights gambling over here.

Although
>muh EA

Boo fucking hoo, the EA makes me pay for virtual content. How evil!
First world problems desu baka

>Meme nation wants to enforce a meme law in the meme union
Do your politicians literally have nothing better to do with their time?

>implying this isn't the best way to seem hip to the younger voters
it's all part of the strategy

well yeah, they are 1st world problems, I don't expect you to understand

Why would they legislate against that? It sounds like fun for everyone

He kind of gave a meme explanation, the items you get are randomized with most of them being junk pretty much while the things you really want are the rare items, then you have the situation in china where blizzard was ordered to show drop rates for items on lootboxes but blizzard started using loopholes to get around that order instead, which is a massive red flag.

Based Belgium

We have these bags for sale in lots of stores, they are $3-$5. Mostly they have shitty sweets and kinder surprise-tier toys but sometimes they are filled with nice chocolate bars, sweets, and good toys. I have never seen kids or families become addicted to gambling as a result of these.

hmm, you're not getting mostly useless junk from that bag with some potential gems that you actually want, these things in it are real items too and you don't get them in an enviroment that is designed to subconsciously nudge you to buy these things(like what happens in video games and gambling casinos) you just buy them at a store.

my country is based

Why not ban non-educational gaming entirely?
Also, when is it going to illegal to go outside without wearing a protective coating of bubble-wrap?

You can trade those. Outside of steam you can't trade any items gained from lootboxes

the dutch do it just fine

An argument is that it is a game and all cards are a game in and if themselves so they all have some value, lootboxes where this isn't the case are filled with junk all but in name as the items don't form a game in and of themselves.

If anything being able to trade makes it more like gambling.

Yeah we have no excuse

Begium decided roads didn't need funding.

Really explains it all.

>In games/lootboxes items have real world value and are sold and bought on the market.
>Some items have enormous benefits which will be bought by people who are dumb enough to not realise the complot a game developer makes.
>Other players get discouraged from not being able to win shit due to OP items and will have to buy into the game or quit.
>Idiots with addiction will not realise they are spending thousands of dollars on idiotic items.

did we? Roads are constantly under construction here, it's like they're trying to build goddamned cathedrals with how ling they take.

Soon(TM)

At the end of the day we're still a non country.

Maybe, but at least we are a relevant non-country

based belgium

Because North-American standards are below European ones

bump

That's actually good, video games are degenerate *merican ideological supports that corrupt our youth. I am glad Brussels i doing a good thing for Europe for once. Fuck video games they should be banned completely.

Don't want to say cause it's kind of embarrassing but it was an MMO

fuck off

actually i think wallonia is a peculiar small culture, not good enough to be a country but good enough to be a french region
much like brittany corsica or alsace it would be totally fitting that belgium becomes one of those french regions with it's unique little culture but still french

nope actually everybody in Wallonia will be forced to learn dutch, so u better stay away baguettes
