You're a young guy just getting into movies, hence the group of great but disparate entry-level films

I'm actually 27 and these are just my top go-tos and ones that are special to me

>great but entry-level

entry-level doesn't mean anything. it doesn't mean a movie is bad, and it doesn't mean it's great because it's a "classic" either

>can you give me a quick rundwon on those?
Local Hero is about an American working for an oil company going to a seaside town in Scotland where they want to build a refinery, it's really funny.

Shane is about a gunfighter who meets a family but is pulled back into his old killing ways.

Pretty good. Though, I don't like Pink Flamingos.

>The Master/There Will Be Blood
why? Specifically The Master.

The Master can be about the Freudian psyche with Joaquin being the ID, Hoffman the ego and Adams the superego, but I also really like the development of the characters and their arcs, specially Phoenix's and Hoffman's characters.

What development and what arcs? They basically stay the same. At the end of the film Joaquin is still an animal and Hoffman is a conman.

Annie Hall
The Cranes Are Flying
L’Eclisse
Mirror
Casablanca
The Exterminating Angel
Days of Heaven
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
Citizen Kane
Wake in Fright

It's more about their relationship, the characters don't need to change, if the relationship itself is interesting. The arcs are pretty obvious, it's what you've watched.

1. A tale of two sisters
2. Let the right one in
3. Outrage and beyond outrage
4. Plague dogs
5. The Thing
6. Christine
7. Anthropoid
8. Paul
9. Joe Dirt
10. Requiem for a Dream

My nine favorite films.

I like your taste. Not familiar with Wake in Fright, but loving the Antonioni, Bunuel and Demy.

1/2. Three Colors: Red
1/2. Mulholland Dr.
3. 12 Angry Men
4. Stalker
5. The Tree of Life
6. Carol
7. Son of Saul
8. Before Sunset
9. Lost Highway
10. American Psycho

1. Swiss Army Man
2. Inside Man
3. Alien
4. Avatar
5. District 9
6. Steve Jobs
7. South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut
8. Goodfellas
9. American Psycho
10. Prisoners
Is my list /kino/?

1) Wings of Desire (Wenders, 1987)
2) Last Year at Marienbad (Resnais, 1961)
3) Brazil (Gilliam, 1985)

8) Forbidden Games (Clement, 1952)
