As an employer, would you rather an employee who smokes weed in their off time, or who drinks alcohol?

Alcohol, look at how much more proactive drunk is.

Weed, as that can actually make some people more creative/productive, isn't physically addictive, and the side effects of getting high aren't as severe. Recreational drugs have no place in the workplace anyways, so this is all hypothetical.

>weed
>relaxed

Shit gave me panic attacks after a while. Stopped because of it.

Def drinks. I know a decent amount of alcoholics that are hard working but just have a problem with alcohol. I also know a bunch of pot heads and druggies who are useless on an infinite number of levels and every day I hope they OD on something hard.

Reefer madness is real. Not when a pothead is stoned, but when he runs out.

>that can actually make some people more creative/productive

It effects people differently. I actually prefer weed over alcohol, since it's less inhibiting and more enjoyable for me.
I actually haven't smoked in a few months since I just got a major surgery and don't know if it'll fuck up my recovery.

Same here. I was smoking a small pipe bowl 3-5 times a week for a few months and I just started getting paranoid about the dumbest shit while high.

I would argue that weed is physically addictive when used habitually.

It's only addictive if you're weak willed.

I own a small chain of liquor stores, I prohibit both for my full time staff. Part time staff are all local college children and that's to be expected. I don't care if they do stupid shit with their free time. No one with keys or managerial capacities is under 30 years of age, black/yellow/brown/native, or female.

It's psychologically addicting. Which is not physically, but regardless it is a "real" (as real as psychology is) addiction.

Also checked, off by one.

no its addictive because it feels good and is better than participating in reality. nice try trying to >imply superiority.

alcohol. drunks dont go around claiming it cures cancer

marijuana

so i can fire that degenerate without having to deal with the ridiculous laws protecting alcoholics

Do you still smoke?

i try not to but if its offered at a friends house and all im going to be doing is watching tv ill do it.

No. See
Also it just gets expensive after a while.

Same can be said about Sup Forums, porn, vidya, etc.

Protip: learn restraint and master your impulses or else shit will hit the fan in the blink of an eye.

I wouldn't give a shit what they do on their own time, as long as it doesn't effect job performance.

>Weed - Dude...man...like...man...dude...man...*smokes another 3 bowls* Dude like...*insert retarded LibSocDem pseudo-intellectual dumbshit taught to them by their LibSocDem college professors*

>Alcohol - Shit George, I have to pull a double shift in the morning, slide me one last long neck before I call it a night and get home to the old lady.

Call me old fashion, but I prefer the hard-working blue-collar type that knocks off of work and grabs a couple of beers at a bar as opposed to the hippie-shit faggots that sit around and do dick-nothing while smoking pot.

Escapism is also psychologically addicting, so?

I would argue the same.

Have you ever seen a long term heavy use pothead go without smoking for a few days? They cannot function.

Forgot to mention I live in Virginia, and fro what I've heard prices are ridiculous compared to every other state.

>everyone who smokes bud is a hippy
you fell for the meme

Alcohol, you can sometimes pay drunks in beer for various jobs.

>everyone who smokes weed is a stoner hippy fuck
>everyone who drinks is responsible and classy about it
Yah nah, fuck off. There's just as many people who smoke like you described drinking, and people who drink like you described smoking.

>Call me old fashion
i call you a faggot for spouting that 1930 cliche retarded ass bullshit
>going to bars
trying to find your father?

Do you know any potheads that abuse their famjly after a bowl?

if youre one of those guys who goes through life constantly high the first couple days are always annoying. give it a week and you wont care until you get bored.

Marijuana.
It's hard for a frequent drinker to not be degenerate. Bottom of the barrel, cheap drug.

yeah chatting up your friends at a gay bar is really productive compared to smoking weed

ayy lmao

>1 post by this ID
Goddammit.

Smart man

I used to be a pothead for a while and liked it. Now when I get high lately I get bad thoughs and anxiety so I don't like it anymore.
I prefer alcohol a lot more now

with alcohol he wouldn't even be functional

And I base this on absolutely nothing

Oh, but, I wouldn't hire someone who smokes, anything at all.

>Virginia, weed expensive
>Richmond is the hippy capitol of the east coast

It really isn't, if you're into that kinda stuff, move to Richmond.

Considering most of the stoners I know have been productive people and the few alcoholics I've met have been asshats, I'd beg to differ with your generalization.

so its either work or a beer in the evening, not both?

>$20 for a g
>not overpriced
Also there's way too many blacks in Richmond.

Stoner by far.

Alcoholics can't function without alcohol and its addictive. Meanwhile you can function without weed because there are no physical withdrawal symptoms.

You might mentally crave it but you wont get sick or feel weak without it.

Source I have been smoking weed on and off for years. If I take a job that randomly drug test then I quit. Applying for a new job that demands a drug test and I quit until I pass.

The only side effect I have ever had was "damn wish I could smoke a pipe right now" and then went on about my day.

>Violence
>Rape
>With alcohol

When I drink, I get really giggly and affectionate, but who knows, maybe I'm just weird.

>where did the last 3 years of my life go?

>drink beer
>watch movies and they're awesome
>listen to music and it's awesome
>eat food and it's awesome
>be /comfy/ as fuck

A full blown alcoholic compared to someone who smokes weed occasionally isn't really a fair comparison.

I work with two people who cannot function without being high 24/7, fuck up simple tasks because they're so fucking high, and when they're not high they're throwing childish tantrums, ranting about how their life sucks and taking breaks every five minutes. All while fucking up simple tasks and outright refusing others. How they're still hired, I don't know, but full blown stoners are just as bad as full blown alcoholics.

I smoked weed for the first time recently. (25, was at a music festival and always said I would when I had stable, good income).

Holy shit, THIS is what people are freaking out about? Look it was nice, and there was a definite effect, but you would have to be fucking retarded to think that shit is as bad as alcohol.

I didn't feel like I was losing control, dizzy, or fucking anything they tell you. It was just a nice, mellow, buzzy feeling with 0 after effects once it wore off.

Seriously what the fuck. I'm definitely not a "420 BLAZE IT" cult nut, but fuck, this shit SHOULD be legal because it's absolutely harmless.

Alcohol without question. Weedsmokers output is far below potential. We screen aggressively to eliminate them.....Weedsmoker / Business Owner

This. You can be a functional alcoholic, but not a functional stoner

>weed
>doesn't fucking shut up about smoking weed
>devotes his entire life to the '420 life' and becomes a huge tool

>alcohol
>social drink that can enhance social situations and be enjoyed moderately without going full drunk

Trying it once is literally nothing
Weed only hits if you haven't smoked in a while/before, it's when everyday you're smoking, before work, after work, have to before bed or to enjoy anything.
It's like anything, too much is the killer

Once and a while it's not bad at all. When you do like I used to do and be extremely stoned 24/7 it becomes a bane to your existence. Looking back I used to be an unmotivated fuck, nevermind the fact that I started voting democrat.

It's true I'm a musician and it is. Like I actually write shit, and I'm an alcoholic. Weed is better but I hardly ever smoke it

The debate is pointless when we don't talk about amounts over time.

>Too much alcohol fucks you up long and short term.
>Too much weed fucks you up long term and short term.

When the questions is: As an employer, my employee doing _____ in their off-time affects he how?

Well, an alcoholic would come in hungover and sloppy. A stoner would maybe seem a little tired. Alcoholics lose.

It doesn't matter what they do, what matters is the performance.

>weed
>makes me paranoid, anxious, mild schizophrenia

>alcohol
>comfy, lulled into a content satisfaction

Used to be a huge pothead and I rarely drink.

>the alcohol is a social drink meme
Don't you just love hangovers?
>implying weed can't be enjoyed moderatly

>Weed is harmless

The evidence is consistent with the view that cannabis increases risk of psychotic outcomes independently of confounding and transient intoxication effects, although evidence for affective outcomes is less strong. The uncertainty about whether cannabis causes psychosis is unlikely to be resolved by further longitudinal studies such as those reviewed here. However, we conclude that there is now sufficient evidence to warn young people that using cannabis could increase their risk of developing a psychotic illness later in life.

thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(07)61162-3/abstract?cc=y=

On an individual level, cannabis use confers an overall twofold increase in the relative risk for later schizophrenia. At the population level, elimination of cannabis use would reduce the incidence of schizophrenia by approximately 8%, assuming a causal relationship. Cannabis use appears to be neither a sufficient nor a necessary cause for psychosis. It is a component cause, part of a complex constellation of factors leading to psychosis.

bjp.rcpsych.org/content/184/2/110.short

An appreciable proportion of cannabis users report short-lived adverse effects, including psychotic states following heavy consumption, and regular users are at risk of dependence. People with major mental illnesses such as schizophrenia are especially vulnerable in that cannabis generally provokes relapse and aggravates existing symptoms. Health workers need to recognise, and respond to, the adverse effects of cannabis on mental health.

This.

They can't do neither while on my dime, and if they do a good job I don't give a fuck what they do before or after their shift

potheads are awful and try to come to work stoned

someone post the comic, you know which one

I'd rather an employee who isn't a degenerate

>"relaxed"

>they can't do neither while on my dime

Well shit, Mexico at its finest

>couple days are always annoying
>give it a week

Yeah, that's called withdrawal.

Alcohol

stoners are bad people

Yes I'm sure that a substance that fucks with your mind by making you trip out has no lasting side effects omitted in the biased OP what so ever.

Are they black? If they are black it dont count. Thats just how they act at work.

Someone who drinks. I've worked with both and very rarely does someone who prefers alcohol over weed drink before during and after their workday

I pref weed because I can control myself.

You don't need to take OP's word for it, there are volumes of scientific literature indicating that cannabis is not really harmful. Certainly it is less harmful than alcohol or tobacco.

Also, no, cannabis doesn't make you trip.

Booze. Pot smokers are fucking brain dead cunts.

alcohol easily
weed has a stink to it that almost never goes away. just chilling in my friends house pretty much infects my clothes, even when he's not smoking
also, any substance on the planet is harmful when consumed irresponsibly. weed included m9

Neither, both are degenerate

1. Neither
2. Alcohol because then they're not breaking the law which has obvious implication

wow so clever outside the box thinking xDDD gj m8 xDDDXDdDDDD
you just
YOU actually LITRALLY
CHOSE AN OPTION

CHOSE A OPTION THAT WASNT INCLUDED .x:XD:D:D:DD
THE ABSOLUTE MADMAN AND MASTER LATERAL THINKER

Schizos beat drunk drivers you fucking nigger

Finnish shitposting is always my favourite

As a DUDE WEED bro, I've gotta say Marijuana. I'm nearly worthless at work when I come in with a hangover from drinking the night before. Whereas if I smoke a lot of weed the night before, at worst I'm a bit groggy for a couple hours.

My employer does drug test though, probably because the HR department are all dumb boomers. I work in an office and these days it's rare for companies to require drug testing, because the majority now realize that weed is harmless when employees aren't in safety sensitive positions (like operating heavy equipment).
