At the end of the book, the last Christian and the last whites of Europe retake Notre-Dame for few hours and take it down after celebrating a Mass.

You’re French but you’re in Berlin, fighting for the wrong side… the losing side. The glorious days of the 33rd Waffen-SS Charlemagne Division are over now. You wonder how History will judge you and the other French volunteers. You were enrolled at 16, maybe they will be merciful on you.
You remember the battle of Belgrad: arrogant soviet tankists blowing communist songs on their speaker, boasting on how easy it will be to take back the town if the French are defending it. Then the sheer look of terror on their faces as they realizes they are stuck in a landmine, at the mercy of the Division’s Panzefausts. A melancholic smile flits across your face at the memory of their retreat, T34 crews abandoning their vehicle only to face the raging fire of their political commissars.
Another explosion suddenly drags you out of your reverie. The ceiling of the subway station crumbles. You pull your Panzerfaust tighter against your body. You look at your friends, around 300 survivors of the once 8000 French unit. What went wrong? You were supposed to be heroes.
Guarding the exit stairs, Augustin old enough to be your father, solid as a rock, he doesn’t even flinch under the red army artillery barrage. He has been fighting the communist since forever, in 1917 with the French expeditionary corpse to help the tsarists, in 1936 to repel the reds from Spain.
Facing the dark of the tunnel armed with a machine gun, there is François around the same age as you. He was affected on the Atlantic Wall to stop the Ally landing. Since June 1944 he thinks he is responsible for the mess they are in right now, maybe he is trying to prove something.
In a corner of the station, three guys who were once in the French branch of the NKSS logistic organization are smoking. You never fully understood what they did before, when asked they simply answers their role was to “transport people”, but they are definitely the most nervous for the upcoming defeat.

Henri pointed his finger at the other end of the station, toward the unguarded part of the tunnel. Everybody knew to what person he was referring. And everybody knew as well that with just a little more time, a secure transport will take out of Germany. A clicking noise slowly rises from the dark, echoing from the Chancelly Bunker to the subway station. Joy lights the soldiers face only to be replaced by a doubtful look when hearing a ironical handclapping, followed by a familiar voice in perfect French.

Fighting to wait for the Ally to take you first won’t get you anywhere… The new French government will make an exemple of you! Any single one of you will have his own public trial; your families will be shamed forever.”

They were later sent to Allied prison where a Free French General asked them why they wore a German uniform, to which one of them replied by asking the General why he wore an American one.

Regardless of that, I see potential in this. I'll pitch it to some buddies I know, if they give the go, then I'll start acquiring assets for the film. I'll most likely have to get in contact with some low end French actors and translators, but I don't see that being too hard. If you want an estimate on how long this would take, I'd give it a good 2-3 years since I've already got other films in the queue
If you honestly want a result quicker, start pitching this idea to those higher up. Get some connections in the industry and you'll be golden
