I don't think the problem is that his tactics are outdated. But that he is choosing the wrong tactics given his squad. If he repeated his 2005 tactics, Manchester United would probably work better.
The problem which the current team is that he wants to play with a midfield 2 so that he can have one more attacker. This ends up getting them overrun and being dominated.
At Chelsea, he had Makelele, Essien, Lampard. Right now, he tries to play Matic and Pogba.
Get an "Essien" to partner with Matic and play Pogba in the Lampard position and they will improve.
