Just a good scouse lad

Old enough to know he was far better than Beckham for halal

Lads is that Gavin Harris?

-agging Spanish women in sunny Madrid and you can't stop it

Based Macca

Who are other successful England players abroad? Is it just him and Lineker?

MacManaman didn't succeed abroad, tho. Spent 90% of his career at Madrid injured. Like, literally.

Literally won the CL for them.

Yeah, but Madrid liked him anyway because he worked hard, ran fast, and was satisfied with coming off the bench. Just like Jonathan Woodgate desu.

sh-it

with an offside goal

That was Woodgate, you mong. McManaman was a regular in the starting XI.

Why did clubs give everyone a one size fits all shirt back then. Never understood this. It's like playing Sunday league and did so to save costs or something

Never understood why we brought in Beckham and dumped McManaman. Macca was fucking great.

>Florentino's Galacticos fever phase

>this is considered offside in boludolandia

You look like a Farcant to me. Shouldn't you be drinking sprite and practising your diving?

Forgot pic...

kinny

Fake news. He was treated like shit by the scum that run that club. Still he left the club a legend adored by the fans

wrong player you spastic

Mark Hateley had a few decent seasons with Milan and Monaco in the '80s.

waddle was the world transfer record when he went to marseille, back when they were relevant. still a hero with their fanbase apparently.

Also we both missed the most obvious one; Kevin Keegan with Hamburg.

always liked the look of baggy shirts t b h

True.

Thing is, Florentino's victory in the 2000 elections over Lorenzo Sanz, then the President and the guy that built that team was a shocking surprise. Florentino campaign was hyped by the media and big business as to "modernize" Real Madrid (i.e. make it a goy corporation with the aroma of a murrican sport superfranchise). Internationalize it, make it a marketing product, attract moneys, media attention, collect customers from around the world, sell kits to the chinaman and etc. That kind of shit. It all started back then.

Still, it was an unexpected victory, because Lorenzo Sanz' Real Madrid was doing fucking great, had just won the CL and another one in '98. The relationship between the President, the staff and the players was great.

When Florentino took over, the relationship with the team, especially with several iconic players of the team like Hierro and Redondo was tense. They also left bitterly through the backdoor. Even though they were too adored by the fans, Florentino managed to wash it all out with his publicity stunts, media presence and new spicy signings like that of Figo, and later Zidane, and all within an atmosphere of "grandeur" propping up his pharaonic vision and project of an "international club" comprised of mega stars, which in those years for him it meant being a big selling celebrity (Beckham) over a more logical approach to building a competitive team. Then Makelele left because Florentino didn't consider him a superstar neither a celebrity and we all know how that fucking Galacticos project ended...

>English players do not play abroad because they hate continental Europe
>You will have to travel to England if you want to watch the likes of Kane or Vardy play in situ

"legend" and "adored" is a little much

Gazza left lazio pretty well liked and very well fed from what I remember.
