OFFICIAL FA CUP SIXTH ROUND: SWANSEA CITY v TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR MATCH THREAD

The first FA Cup quarter-final of the weekend pits Wales against England and Portugal against Argentina as Carlos Carvalhal's Swans welcome Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs. The last time the Welsh club appeared in the last 4 was in 1964, while their North London opponents could reach the semis for 2 seasons in a row. With the Harry Kane team now without their talisman until April, could mad Carlos and his scrunched up £20 notes pull off another surprise result?

Kick-off at 12:15pm GMT with coverage on BT Sport 1 from 11:45am.

Abertawe: Nordfeldt, Naughton, van der Hoorn, Bartley (c), Mawson, Olsson, Ki, Carroll, Clucas, Dyer, Abraham.
>Subs: Mulder, Roberts, Fernandez, Britton, Byers, Routledge, Narsingh.

Spuds: Vorm, Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen (c), Davies, Dier, Sissoko, Lamela, Eriksen, Moura, Son.
>Subs: Lloris, Aurier, Alderweireld, Foyth, Dembele, Alli, Llorente.

George Byers is class and should have been involved in the first team long before now (rumour is he's been kept out because he's gay).

If Swansea are chasing the game he's the only chance of a goal off that bench. Fucking Routledge lmao.

Where can I find a stream for this?

Is bony dead?

He is.

Hello frens

That's a nice OP, lad.

>Abertawe, Nordfeldt

Who?

Kristoffer Nordfeldt. Swansea signed him a few years ago.

Looks like Fabianski's Swedish twin.

VAR is going to ruin the World Cup. Shame because it Qatar is going to be naturally shit, and after that it'll be a 48-team joke.

Why are away fans always louder than home fans in England?

Just reported you to my local bobby, sunshine

SPurs are just a bigger team, and given how expensive their tickets are getting next year so they're going to want to make all the away games they can

whelp game over

Fuck he's good

NOOOOOOO SAVE US VAR

Ridiculous in front of people like Drinkwater and Shelvey.

KEK IT'S BEEN DISALLOWED BASED VAR

I think I figured out what annoys me about American commentators. It's the blatantly out of place European terms and phrases.

>a moment of class
>equalizer
>pitch

etc.

because the away fans are the actual real fans all concentrated in one place. At home, the actual real fans are often spread around the ground (especially at newer stadiums that have lost their old dynamic) and there are families and kids there etc

tight as fuck. good call in the end

son's head was in front of the line so technically offside

>we don't have cameras that are even close to being in line with the decision

Attached: IMG_4188.jpg (800x450, 69K)

VAR didn't fucking do anything. The linesman already made the call.

you'd need cameras at player level every 5 yards across an entire side of the pitch and even then its still a length shite procedure to call

checked

Attached: 1407133443187.jpg (500x500, 38K)

>smug anime VAR girl
This will inevitably happen in our lifetime.

So if VAR found Son to be onside there, would a goal have been awarded? Because the linesman's flag went up, which affected the behaviour of the defenders. They think the game has stopped because of the flag. If VAR is to be fully implemented, then the role of the flag would have to change. It must become more of an advisory flag rather than a definitive decision. Then it's a question of when and how a referee should stop the game to review the decision. Clusterfuck.

>you'd need cameras at player level every 5 yards across an entire side of the pitch
Sanchez's weekly wages could pay for that for every stadium in the league

>Constantly bitch about UEFA/FIFA for years for not introducing technology in refereering.
>We need technology to stop the corrupt europeans

VAR gets introduced

>lel, technology is destroying football

English media, everyone

Lads, is it really true that Peter Kay is dead?

Lucas is doing his best Townsend impression this game. He's got it all down, from the hairline, to the runs that end with nothing, to the random shot from 30 yards out that goes 30 yards over he bar.

>muh lino

>They think the game has stopped because of the flag.
that's their own fucking fault
the game is only stopped on the ref's whistle

that last one was LAMEla, Lucas hasn't had any long distant shots yet has he?

a flag going up isn't a definitive decision

the ref's whistle is

that's the big issue with using it for offside decisions, desu it should be limited to red cards and penalties since the game has already stopped anyway

>you now remember the 5 minutes when townsend looked like bales replacement

is he garlic bread? GARLIC BREAD? OOOH A TASTE SENSATION

My bad. I looked away for a second and saw the ball sailing over the bar followed by the camera focusing on Lucas. Assumed he was the one who took the shot.

speaking of garlic bread i made a cheese toasty with boursin earlier
