lmao who

he was the only one trying to drag Britbong football into the Enlightened Age until Wenger turned up

Tbh most of his United sides were pretty shit compared to rest of Europes big teams. He just made them play consistently good in the league

He failed when it came to adapting his tactics in Europe. One of his wins came with a pretty English/easy road and the other was luck

le last minute goal and penalty shoot out mannager.

The current state of United is the biggest testament to Ferguson's capability.

Ferguson is the greatest manager of all time because he made United a decent team. not a great team, a decent team.

United. the worst team of all time. was okay-ish.

because of Fergie.

>first CL win with two lucky late goals in the final
>second CL win against another English club, on penalties

Can't help but feel sometimes that the CL is just a shit metric for the 'best club' in Europe. Chelsea's win in 2012 devalued the trophy by an especially bad degree.

>le plays 4-4-2 against Barca and gets destroyed man

lmfao stay assmad barca bitch

fact is that you couldn't beat a 10 man Chelsea with penalties even

here's your (You)

the english era was 50 years ago
he managed to win it in the italian/spanish era

None of you seem to appreciate the state that United (and English football) were in when he arrived. He singlehandedly dragged it out of the mire. He picked up Man Utd when they were second bottom of the table, without a title win in 20 years. After when Liverpool fans did, no English team had the capacity to win the Champions League in the early and mid 90s. His arrival in England is the reason the premier league is now the most watched league in the world. No one won more CL titles during his time at United than he did. He competed in an era when the trophy wasn't just shared between 3 super powers, and when managers didn't just bounce around a few choice clubs. These days if you get the opportunity to manage Real Madrid or Barcelona, you've got a very good chance of winning the CL by default.

He played a 433 and a 4231 against Barca.

It is. Casuals have placed too much importance on it without seeing that these type of tournaments are flawed since a lot of it is luck and whether you happen to be on form at the right time
True dominance is measured by dominant consistency
For example it's an absolute disgrace that halal only has two league titles in almost a decade and zero trebles

>No one won more CL titles during his time at United than he did.

Milan won 5, Real won 3, Barca won 4 during 1986-2013

Go man for man against THAT Barca with Ji Sung Park, Giggs, and Rooney.

>luck into class of 92
>FA do everything to help them win because it helped the league expand internationally
>bought up all the best players when needed
He knows what he's doing not returning, he'd fail miserably
He's lucky Bayern spilled the entire pot of spaghetti that last minute after dominating the match.
Stupid Germans

Not as good as zidane that's for sure. Did he shout VAMOS even once in his career?

No manager won more.

>an American pretending to know what he's talking about

Fergie was taking on and beating Bayern before he even arrived at United.

He would be a nobody without CR7. Cristiano literally made United what it is and won them all their trophies.

If anything that goes to show how essentially worthless a top flight manager is if even the grestest of all time can't win the biggest prize more than twice over a 20 year period

>27 attempts
But that's wrong you fucking retard.

>that goes to show how essentially worthless a top flight manager is

Have you had a look at how United have been doing since he was there?

Found the Virginia fan

Ferguson made Cristiano. Their weird work ethics made them the perfect mentor/student.

Good post

I think the most any manager has won is 3. It's an extremely difficult competition to win even for massive clubs.

the thing is how he managed to keep things together for 26 years

>Ferguson won 2 CLs in 20 years with consistently the best team in England
>Ancelotti won 2 CLs in 7 years with the 4th best team in Italy
>Mourinho won 2 CLs with 2 clubs during 2 year stays
>Di Matteo won 1 CL in half a season with >torres
>Benitez won a CL with Riise, Smicer, Harry Kewell and Baros as 1st team regulars
>Van Gaal won 1 with Ajax

The whole tournament is weird as fuck desu, especially when you factor in that the advertising revenue for the late stages are what decides whether UEFA make a profit or not that year.

I'm giving the benefit of the doubt you were alive at least
btw no one cares about Aberdeen or Scotland in general

I'd say it has more to do with the retirements of Howard Webb, Mark Clattenburg and co.
United used to get at least 15 points per season thanks to corrupted referees.
Also Fergie did a Bayern by outspending every other club and taking the best players from the league.

Chelseas win was a miracle that would be like current USA winning the World Cup.

It will probably never happen again that a team that was outmatched so much wins a trophy.

Greece in 2004 actually could defend well and had decent set pieces.

Chelsea was fucking awful. They were absolute trash and if they played Bayern another 100 games they would have lost 100 out of them.

>finished fucking 11th TWICE in his first three years

he would unironically be considered >moyes tier if he had to coach today. expectations are way different in this era.

>5 league titles in his final 7 seasons, going up against City and Chelsea

You're a proper mong m8.

Yeah with this type of refballing every week. Also got to manhandle opponents and never get sanctioned

It's objectively correct Manjeet

>hasn't won the premier league in 25 attempts

Is there a more overrated team?

Attached: Capture+_2018-03-17-14-41-12.png (1422x996, 1.13M)

AF's best team was full of players that came from the youth system, mourinho walks into the club and spends 100s of millions. Of-course there's different expectations.

In 99 we had the worst route to the final, so in a way we deserved to win that time

In 08 even without the pens we deserved that one

>AF's best team was full of players that came from the youth system

Was insanely lucky though with a handful of world class players all in the same generation. Not knocking SAF, but I wonder what United would have been if the class of 92 never happened.

Considering Fergie had already won a couple league titles at United before the class of 92 broke through, I'm thinking they would be fine.

wrong
Especially towards the end of his tenure, United often played a 4-3-3 in CL and a staggered 4-4-2 in the PL.
Perhaps some credit is due to his coaching staff, but if you compare the play styles of his sides towards the end of his tenure, they were far more dynamic.
>not changing tactics
This is absolute bullshit, in league and European competition.
You know how smaller sides will change shape or maybe play a player out of position to nullify their opponent?
Ferguson would pull that kind of shit against Aston Villa, et all.
>oh you’ve got a decent player? Let me just put Ji Sung Park in his way, just to fuck with him.
>play John O’Shea literally anywhere just to bully people off the pitch

For many years, sure they had a clear style or strategy. Thus why Veron was the quintessential “right player at the wrong time”. But saying SAF never adapted his tactics is just ignorant.

>that Scholes blooter against Barcelona
Hhhnnnggg

didn't he revamp the youth system making that generation happen?

Refball in the league obviously

Hard to be overrated if youre not rated in the first place m9

>won the scottish league twice in a row with aberdeen
>beat real madrid with aberdeen to win the cup winners cup
>demolished european cup winners hamburg to win the super cup

not even remotely close to being overrated. if anything he's actually underrated because people forget about his miracles in scotland

scotch drinking alcoholic bacon faced cunt
he was shit

genuinely the first good post ive ever seen an american ever make

here's to you tyrone

he's not overrated, the cl is notoriously hard to win. he made all those players, notice how they didn't win shit with england, holland, argentina etc. notice how everything went downhill after he retired. i'm far from being a manure fan, but you're all just soyboi cucks. name me ONE coach that didn't have embarrassing phases in his career, just ONE. zidane doesn't count, he's just started

current cl winner madrid was kicked out of copa by leganes a few weeks ago, big deal

Copa del Rey is just a Spanish community shield; no one gives a shit

United were tight as fuck in the late 00s/early 10s

They sold Ronaldo for £80m and bought Valencia and a well-past it Michael Owen and he still won titles and got to a couple of CL finals.

as if anybody gives a fuck about the cup winners cup lmao

at least you get to face top teams in copa del rey

After Ronaldo he made to to one CL final. In the group stages he faced Valencia, Rangers and Buraspor, then he faced Marseille, Chelsea and Schalke on the way to the final

No one cares who you face on the way. See Real's recent runs to the final

Except Cristiano almost fucked up their 08 run

Madrid had a parade for winning the copa del Rey. Now their bandwagon pretend they don't care about the league either

Yes. It was the first thing he did when he arrived at United. The class of 92 was the result of the changes he made.

>Madrid had a parade for winning the copa del Rey
oh shiet I forgot about that, so sad lol

did the leganes manager win la liga twice in a row, three times in total?

did they beat bayern munich in the europa league final?

did the manager of leganes then move to another country, say england, and win the league the 13 (THIRTEEN) times?

did he also win the Champions League, and reach the final another two times?

NO???? he didnt???? Fuck knows why you thoughr that a relevant point to bring up then...

Last season they faced Juventus, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Atletico Madrid

Lel

>impying that wasnt a hard run
>he thinks looking at teams now is a good indication of how strong they were 8 years ago

awwwwwwwwwww. babies first season watching football? cute af, genuinely adorable

Nobody gives a fuck about domestic titles cause you're just beating on 16 garbage teams

People also forget that his best team didn't do well in Europe due to the rules only allowing three foreign players back then, and Ireland/N. Ireland/Wales/Scotland didn't count as English so between his best players (Cantona, Schmeichel, Irwin, Giggs, Keane, and Hughes) he could only pick three of them.

They win the CL easily with that team.

>You know how smaller sides will change shape or maybe play a player out of position to nullify their opponent? Ferguson would pull that kind of shit against Aston Villa, et all.
But Yanited fans today tell me they're too good to have to adapt to any team.

Guise.

Did he even really exist?

none of those teams, except maybe chelsea, would be considered top contenders for the CL that season you fucking retard

Everyone does, especially halal who won them all the time until Messi came along you bandwagoning shitskin

>Arms behind back in a natural position
Don't think thats a handball but i can't remember it desu

>no one cares about the thing you spend all season playing for

oh it's a leaf nvm

Attached: 1511870708033.png (427x436, 121K)

United uniroinically suffered from massive refball in the CL

>le win 2 CLs in as many attempts man
>le mickey mouse trophy per each loss man
why don’t you rate him yet?

Attached: 3705CB27-7D1D-4793-A0FB-AAFF3DBD8FB2.jpg (612x408, 28K)

>valencia who finished 3rd in liga
>rangers who got to the europa league final 2 years previously
>bursaspor who won the turkish league
>marseille who won the french league
>shalke who finshed 2nd 5 points off bayern
>chelsea who won the premier league

wow

genuinely won of the worst, least informed posts i've ever seen. clearly another thick mongo who started watching football in 2015. stop trying to discuss football you never watched.

go watch cross country skiing or some shit you windowlicker

It's from the United-Liverpool game last weekend. Don't know why he brought it up in regards to Fergie.

He's simply not been in the game long enough. He's undoubtedly a good coach. We'll find out if he's great when he eventually leaves Madrid.

Get fucked, OP

Chelsea's win in 2012 just confirmed divergence of wealth ruined it so that it again is in need of reformatting. too bad they only ever format it in favour of the old G14

>muh replays
ebin

>not losing at all in the second half of the season
wow so amaze

Are you implying that isn't amazing?

Winning 18 games in a row is amazing; drawing to Wimbeldon and Blackburn isn't

It's so, so good. I mean that. Really.

You know that winning streak included the FA Cup and Champions League? I can't think of a team in recent memory, in any league, that's managed to avoid defeat in every game of the second half of the season in every competition.

United's hegemony was an FA made story, and so had been the whole premier league before big moneys came, thats the only reason why have United cansistently sucked in CL tgroughout all those years, and this is also no surprise that in 28 years there were two exceptional runs no matter due to luck or just certain players' class... english football in SAF time was a fucking joke, it was proved many times in CL or WC/EC...

Brits please!
We all know what had english football been in that time when fergie took his trebles, when first league players played for fucking food, when literally half of the matches in every round were fixed in order for clubs to somehow make profit, when even big sigar daddies who had invested into leeds or other shithole gave up after fee seasons even if they were succesful, since it was basicly equal for throwing money into a litter can. In that atmosphere, in those GOOD times were Fergie's trebles won, and eventually he came down when money started to flow into the league, since it meant less refball and less fixing would be possible, a nice ending to such a story.

>united consistently spending millions every season when southampton or stockport tier clubs have their players playing paid like factory workers
>villa, newcastle and a couple of other ckubs spend less than united but still a world beyond than all the other clubs so in each season's ending table they are mixed following united
>when in 00's other clubs have also found sugar daddies ready to spend millions, united suddenly started to lose and eventually fergie SUDDENLY decided to leave
Wow what a story, truly underrated
