Some people just like Star Wars, watch the movies and enjoy it, to greater or lesser extent but do not obsess over it.
The reason why people can't remember the characters in Rogue one is because its so fucking poorly written and because the characters are utterly unmemorable, except for the blind monk who does exactly one cool thing, but no one knows the name of.

Then he carried over the idea of an extremist Rebel to The Clone Wars, where Saw is shown rebelling against the Seperatists on a planet with no Republic aid.

Forest Whitaker loved the character and was happy to play him in a movie.

Forest reprised the role in the Rebels show, effectively bridging the gap between the young TCW Saw, and the old withered unstable man we see in the movie.

The shows are very good.

The Clone Wars is often cited as being "so good, it redeems the prequels".

Lucas was pumping a stupidly large budget into it because he wanted to bring movie-quality animation to the small screen. It has a hard time finding its place in the earlier seasons, but it genuinely becomes some of the most engaging and mature content in the entire franchise. Pretty heavy stuff in there, some of which was censored for tv.

Rebels is very much a follow-up to TCW. It's on a lower budget thanks to Lucas leaving things, but it is by the same creative team. If you like TCW, the Rebels will likely grow on you too. Rebels has the much anticipated return of James Earl Jones' Vader in action, as well as other fan favorites, like Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Honestly, if you like Star Wars, then watch these shows. It's literally just more of what you like.
