Stage kino

Has anyone watched Miss Saigon?
The 25th anniversary performance is outstanding.
What are you favorite musicals?

pic related was also terrific

I think filmed stage productions are better than film adaptations, although I like Rent.

Who's your favourite character?

The Engineer does not count

.....TELEVISION and FILM

Just caught Camelot, which wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be.

My top musical is Les Miserables, pleb pick though it may be.

I went to a production of some musical about the Revolutionary War when I was a kid but I can't seem to figure out what musical it was. It wasn't 1776. There was a scene where a washing woman gets her shirt ripped off.

it's on BluRay user

1. Engineer
2. Kim
3. John
4. Chris
5. Gigi
6. Ellen

forgot Thuy, put him between Chris and Gigi

>SHUT UP AND GET YOUR HOT PANTS ON!

Awesome musical. My favorite musical is Chicago, though.

Oh, I wish I was in the land of cotton,
Old times there are not forgotten!
Look away,
Look away,
Look away...

I met the engineer from that performance after the show in Atlanta. Nice guy glad to see he made it

Jon Jon Briones joined the London cast in 2014, and the show just moved to Broadway in March 2017.

When did you see it in Atlanta? I saw it at the Fox around 2002 I think.

Fuck I remembered it wrong. The engineer didnt go on to broadway but one of the female leads did. @ serenbe playhouse they had an outdoor performance where there was a real helicopter and shit. This was last summer

holy shit, I'm sorry I missed that performance, sounds fantastic.

Dallas, GA here

Nice, suwanee here

Fuck that fucking bullshit show. The "gritty north east" as written and performed by a bunch of posh londoners and champagne socialists.

The part where they suddenly have every single policeman be an evil Tory was so dumb and on the nose I lost all interest in what it was trying to do. Also, there was so much padding for time.

Any non-Georgians ITT? I'm getting tired of the Georgians' exclusivity and Georgian attitude. I like R.E.M. and peaches but Georgians are best in small doses.

I didn't know about all that, as an American.

It did feel somewhat padded and dragged out in the second act. Could have been 20 minutes shorter I thought. Regardless, I enjoyed the hell out of the filmed stage performance.

Just don't make any conclusions about the politics of the time from that show, it's entirely misrepresentative. Though I suppose I'd probably have enjoyed it more if I saw it not knowing that.

Sadly, a deep knowledge of politics can ruin one's enjoyment of lots of things.

t. anti-Georgite

Best Miss Saigon song:

The American Dream

But what's the 2nd best?

this is such a fucking sad musical

i dont see how georgians are here making whimsical posts about it

i cant stop tears welling up when i just think about any of the songs or characters and here georgians neutrally discussing it as if it were a specimen for dissection

I'm a Georgian and the show has the same effect on me.

Movie in My Mind and I'd Give My Life for You especially, but also the Fall of Saigon all get emotional reactions out of me.

It was a laugh riot.

I agree, the film is pretty good though

t. county durham

Movie in My Mind is stupid garbage and the worst part of the show, makes sense a Georgian would love it.

i have no idea what this is but how can a stage ptroduction last 25 years. that seems boring
