What is supposed to be funny about this character?

He was hilarious. If you didn't like him, you're most likely one of numale fags that he shits on.

DUDE BACON IS FRIKIN EPIC

No i'm closer to the caricature he portrays poorly

He's an exaggeration of an archetype that people can relate to. While he's sort of "set in his ways", he's still very endearing.

Reddit

He was a conservative libertarian working in a system he hated. The jokes wrote themselves, he became iconic, and later, as ""pointed out"", flanderized.

what archetype? never met a person like this in my life. My brother had a problem eating vegetables. thankfully he grew out of it with my assistance.

libertarians aren't ancap though. If anything he should be proud to help his local government.

you raped your brother?

>portrays poorly
you're a faggot numale

Man Leslie was so THICC. I want her to wrap her legs around my naked and afraid body and constrict the life out of me like a beautiful anaconda.

damn what a hot argument. like how you strengthen it with KoTH to make it seem like you are a real conservative.

Does your pussy hurt user?

OP, you may just be too autistic to understand why others might find the character funny. Most normal people can find things unfunny, but have an understanding what other people find funny about it.

The actor is incredibly liberal and the writing is mocking libertarians from the point of view of liberals.

You are fucking pathetic thinking this was a huge fuck you to nu-males.

>exaggeration
Take a known type, then blow it out of proportion.

your mom's does after I got done with her last night.

Who /Jean Ralphio/ here

It isn't making fun of libertarians. He's one of the most loved and endearing characters on the show.

It's just that this new generation of youngsters get triggered at everything and upset at television shows and video games, no matter where they lie on the political spectrum.

I'm 29 and triggered I still have to see his unfunny act on FB clips that normies post all the time.

I think they view everything as if it is secretly shitting on source material etc.

Afraid to trust things.

Have you ever been to Indiana? There are conservative libertarians like this all over the place. Also, the show makes fun of all the characters, not just Ron.

The show makes a point of portraying him to be one of the most endearing and smartest characters.

If you think his character was just a parody for bashing right-wingers or libertarians, you are insecure as fuck.

His standup is shit, but his character on P&R was great.

I live in Texas and AM a conservative libertarian who supported Ron Paul. I guess this is what I seem like to out of touch champagne socialists.

The only thing that was weird to me was when the show would get super weird to me was with Aziz's Tom character. Not that there's someone of Indian descent, but how he finds these weird almost Californian type joints that I can't imagine in Indiana. MAYBE broad ripple, but like the place with the weird alcohol... that does really fit anywhere in Indiana at all.

In case you're not aware, Indiana is not Texas. Met a bunch of Texans while in the military, and you don't really see their types.

Swanson's a huge exaggeration, but his type exists in the state.

Indiana is a nonstate no one gives a fuck about or know exists. Tell me about the rhode island libertarians too

The show takes place in Indiana, you idiot.

He contrasted with the other characters in the show.

Get out. This is officially a heartland flyover state thread now.

You see these stupid pseudo-californian places fucking everywhere these days.
I'm gonna shoot myself if they build another "gastronomy pub" near my office.

Texas has their own military? what do they do?

>now
This thread is about a show that takes place in a heartland flyover state. Getting asspained because it "doesn't properly represent" archetypes in other states is Millennial SJW-tumblr-level whining.

get ready for the inevitable secession

...United States military takes in people from all states.

this

>Getting asspained because it "doesn't properly represent" archetypes in other states
I never said that, you are arguing with the wrong guy.

Swanson intentionally exaggerated his bitter crotchety libertarianism because he didn't like people viewing him as a nice guy.

The extent in which he played up the stereotype was really beyond how he was actually like. He liked trolling people in the office.

The least political people in the office were april and andy and he liked them the most.

iiiiiii got hit by a LEX-US

The archetype that Texans are too stupid to understand shit outside of their own state DOES exist, though

Surprisingly common and often proven to be true, too

That's because you're a faggot who lives in a bubble on Sup Forums

Is anne perkins a top tier waifu?

more like states outside of texas are irrelevant and not worth getting to know

Is Texas the US of states?

I preferred her when she was doing the data-thon where she dated like 40 guys in quick succession. She was a decent straightman.

>You enjoyed the shadenfreude of april taking and keeping andy from anne

Female competition can be fun.

hes a WHITE MAN L O L

>It's another whiny Sup Forumstards crave victimization so much that they insecurely perceive a character that was, if anything, a compliment to right-wingers to be a parody making fun of them episode

Time to change the channel

Never found him or the show funny tbqh. Also Offerman is a huge cuck in real life.

>bacon and beer so manly xD

Reddit: the Character

Pretty much, yeah.
Everyone else in the United States looks at Texans in the same way the rest of the world looks at the stereotype of Americans.

Imagine the stereotypical loud, obnoxoius American who thinks too highly of themselves simply because they're American, and amplify it tenfold. That's a Texan. But with belt buckles.

It's not even a real victimization thing. Ron is shown to be hardworking and actually cares about people, despite his hard demeanor.

There's an episode where he is worried about Andy and April's dangerous exposed wires and shit in their house, and goes around repairing everything. Another character that he didn't care for previously wants to learn how to self-repair, and he respects that she's hardworking and wants to "do it herself" as well.

He's not an insult to the archetype at all.

It's called a militia my guy. Most states have them besides the national guard

That was halloween party episode. "Shock shower"

He fixed faucets, fixtures and replaced wiring in bathroom, kitchen and a few other things.

>The archetype that Texans are too stupid to understand shit outside of their own state DOES exist

Not really any more so than the average American I would say. It's ironic that Californians are probably the ones who most often propagate "LOL TEXANS ARE STOOPID", when Texas has pretty middle of the road test scores relative to the entire US while California has some of the worst high school test scores in the nation.

It's not just Californians that look at Texas all weird.

Though to be fair, most of the nation looks at California pretty weirdly too, and they seem to be in denial about it.

Yes bacon tastes great. What's your point?

HEY MAN WATCH YOUR MOUTH THAT IS MY SISTER!
Naaaah I'm just kidding she's the worssssst

Texans certainly have a unique weird culture, and I don't think anyone even in Texas would deny that. I was only making a criticism of the idea that they are stupid, which given the population size and demographics in Texas, they actually abnormally outperform expectations in most socio-economic metrics.

Oh, I'd definitely agree with that. Coastal states looking down on others is sort of on all states, though.

>I only hang out with snowflake commies but I Know this is what you are
>you love meat and bacon that is what libertarians are all about

Ron Swanson is based as fuck

...

Epic bacon post good sir. Keep it classy!

wow caitlyn jenner looks like that?!

>I still have to see his unfunny act on FB clips that normies post all the time
You're on Facebook and you have the gall to call others normies? Unless you're madthad, you can go fuck yourself with a pike.

Not , but facebook is pretty great once you filter all the liberal crap out.

>actor is incredibly liberal

his stand up special was basically a youth group sermon
