Lesser Known Horrors

Let's have a thread about lesser known but good horrors regardless of subgenre. Preferably made this millenium but anything goes. Stuff like:

Session 9
Vinyan
Resolution

and the like.

The void. Not a masterpiece but rather good. Too bad its medicore after the half.

It's completely awful don't post in this thread any more please.

>being an elitist on a medicore genre for movies
do you have anything to contribute or are you only here to shitpost?

also Dagon, its a rather faithful lovecraft adaptation.

Dagon is okay, but The Void is just static, poseur bullcrap that's not worth watching save for that hilarious stroboscope meat whacking scene.

As for Lovecraftian movies there never was a good one unless you count The Thing.

>lesser known
>Session 9 - 45,000 votes
>Vinyan - 5,000 votes
>Resolution - 8,000 votes

Settled on 10,000 max.

Wasn't crazy about Vinyan, but liked the other two quite a bit.

Yellow Brick Road
Marebito
Calvaire
The baby's room
Altered
Abstentia
Hell House LLC
Reincarnation
Whistle and I'll come to you
The changeling
The Objecive
Vargtimmen
The Black Door
A Horrible Way To Die
A warning To The Curious
The Signalman

is anything from this list any good?

Session 9 and Resolution
Especially Session 9

I remember it being shilled here a while ago but i didnt mind the border lands

It's sorted by my ratings

Any good home invasion horrors?

yellow brick road was a real trip, id recomend that one out of all of these

I thought Session 9 was absolute shit and I really don't understand why people jack off over it so much. Nothing scary happens, there's a creepy voice, and a you were the demons all along ending. Shit.

you're fucking retarded lol

If you liked all those Nigel Kneale TV shorts, check out the "Murrain" episode of Against the Crowd (1975). It's one of my favorite witch horrors.

Necronomicon(its total shit save for Jeffery Combs hamming it up as hp lovecraft)

Lovely Molly
Spring
Seventh Moon (haven't seen it myself)

I saw seventh moon a while back, it was alright from what I remember but don't take my word for it.

Lovely Molly is a very unsettling film. Very underrated.

can someone help me remember the name of this indie drama sci fi horror movie? it was like a schrodingers cat type deal where people at a dinner party get tossed up in alternate realitys and shit

Coherence

>As for Lovecraftian movies there never was a good one unless you count The Thing.
Re-animator, Castle Freak, From Beyond, and Die Farbe are good. Definitely better than Dagon

Session 9 is awesome as long as you can deal with the low production quality

>low production quality
>one of the best settings in any horror movie

you need to understand what production quality means

Dude, I love the movie, but it looks like absolute shit.

Starry Eyes. Probably the best horror in the past 5 years (including VVitch), yet hasn't even been mentioned ITT.

Literally lesser known horror. I'm gonna start spamming this shit in horror threads because it needs to be rec'd more.

Dolls(1987) is an overlooked little dark fantasy movie.

Ravenous
Shocker
Frankenhooker

You must be having a laugh

You again?
Thought we already discussed this..

>Ravenous

One of the best horror soundtracks of all time imo

I still haven't watched The House of the Devil lel I will though.

Lovely Molly is the creepiest fucking movie I've ever seen, and I consider myself to be somebody that's seen a decent amount of horror.

I've never heard of it, but it does not look good at all desu

It's pretty iconic, that's for sure. Other horror ST favorites:

Altered States
It Follows
The Wicker Man (1973)
The Thing (1982)
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Cannibal Holocaust
The Last of Us (the game)
Alien
Valerie and Her Week of Wonders
Upstream Color

>Whistle and I'll come to you
Underrated for atmosphere

Dead Mary. You will not be sorry.

Next 50

It is a good film, especially if you grew up in the 70's.

Session 9 is garbage. Sorry. I liked the directors other work, though.

I agree. I love sci-fi and it was so fucking boring.

80's kid, but I can relate. We were a poor 80's family so most of our shit came from the 70's kek

No, he's right. I mean I had fun watching it, but it's kind of messy. Like there's the one scene where one of the guys grabs the young guy and holds the pick up to his face, and it's supposed to be fucked up, and it is, but that character doesn't do anything untoward for the rest of the movie.

The Attic Expeditions
>because someone took my fave: Session 9

Quartermass & The Pit

meh.

Honestly, thought Kill List was better.

Jacob's Ladder
Lake Mungo
The Borderland/Final Prayer

>decent

Are you familiar with Don't Look Now?

A favorite recent horror comedy that had too many votes to make my list is Grabbers. A lot of fun and holds up to rewatches easily.

Aaand one more bump
