He's a really good player, and a better penalty box finisher than a lot of the comparable players, but the most effective players of this type tend to operate between wide and central positions, and he's a little slow and slight for that.
If you think he's up against Silva/Iniesta/Ozil/Isco/Countinho/Erikssen/Koke etc... the competition is tough, and most of those guys succeed by pulling wide or dropping deep. I'm not sure he does either of those things.
