What do you think of this band and their political views? I think they're leftist ideologues, except for "muh Armenian genocide", in which case they are nationalist.

>we wish we were Faith No More
They fucking suck.

armenians are such a hodgebodge of genetic diversity. it looks like a mexican standing next to a fag standing next to a jew standing next to a white guy

They're ethnics so they're allowed to be patriotic and left wing at the same time.

Every band should wish they were Faith No More.

Armenians are original jews.

Wish in one hand, shit in the other (or in this case, be SOAD).
See which fills up faster.

haha!
no kidding.
exactly!
true, lol

It's basically what you said, OP. They are leftwing as hell except for the Armenian Genocide.
>We're all living in a fascist nation
>Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?
>You and me will all go down in history with a...generation that didn't agree
>etc.

However, this user gives them a pass because their music is fucking great.

>"We all live in a fascist nation"
Daron Malakian needs to shut the fuck up and learn what true fascism is. The USA under GW Bush was not even close. The word has lost its meaning.

>"Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor"
Yet, not a peep from Serj Tankian about Obama's warmongering.

bretty gud

Listened to it a lot in college. It was anti-Bush like Jon Stewart built his popularity on at the time, but not explicitly left or right wing as far as I could tell. Probably more libertarian.

Yeah, dude. I completely agree. "Fascism" has literally lost all meaning.

I wonder how Serj is taking the fact that Trump is pretty much the anti-war candidate, lol

Maybe they're still holding out hope.

their music is very bad/extremely plebby/11-12 year oldish imo

I never liked them. Found it annoying to listen to.

Used to like them when i was younger, but they are too leftist/juvenile for me now, but goddamn, last year i went to a metal festival and they closed it and they where a bomb live, pure energy without much shit inbetween 10/10 would reccomend

fuckin hell looks how much that cunt has aged

Terrible music don't care about their politics either way. The early to mid 2000's is historic for the low quality of popular music that was big at the time

>>we wish we were Faith No More
said no one ever

>Why don't presidents fight the war, why do they always send the poor

Really makes you think.

he looks better now, tho

Maximum normie core around here. Or at least it used to be.

what the fuck kind of a band name is that?

makes no sense. system of an up? system of a down?

even system of a dawn makes more sense.
fucking immigrant shits

its from a poem

Their first album cover is the symbol of the Communist Party of Germany. Blue-pilled as fuck or what?

One of my very favourite bands, I own all their albums from when I used to buy music. Still listen to them to this day. They sound like shit live though. As for their politics, their problems seem far away and are small concern of mine.

it was based on a poem, the original being named 'victims of a down' (reference to the armenian genocide probably)

thanks bulgarbro. Now I know why I hate poems

they have literal highschool-tier opinions

Commercializing gommunism is the most capitalist thing ever and therefore redpilled

they are literal hippie leftists that happen to play heavier music than usual

Honestly, After Rage they were my favorite "Angry" Band. a lot of their more cerebral stuff still stands out.
>Spiders
>O-i-a-a-io
>Ariels
>Roulette
>Chop Suey
>Toxicity
All still solid songs while their Anti- War/Bush stuff is good if you really want to get in to that early to mid 2000's vibe but over all forgettable to chringy now.

Serj is still one of my favorite vocalists but damn I wish he could more Artistic shit then political ramblings

and highschool-tier lyrics

>BOUNCE pogo pogo pogo pogo pogo
>selling ass for heroin
>banana banana banana terracotta terracotta pie

I like that they trigger Turks about "muh armenian genocide"

I don't like their pandering to plebs. Here is one of their "lyrics"

>WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOR
>WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOR
>WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOR

Cause they are fucking expendable you retard. Why the hell would you send your most valuable people to die? Good way to lose.

Mein nigger

"Why don't presidents fight the war why do they always send the poor" is literally one of the stupidest, most childish lyrics I have ever heard before and something a 14 year old would say

As an Armenian, I never understood the fascination with them. Yeah, cool, Armenian guys in a band but their lyrics were just so dumb and left wing, even as a high schooler it was obvious. Melodically, not bad but ugh. Armenians in American media are just not how I wish we were represented but the majority of my people here in LA have swallowed some type of dark blue pill and have become super-SJW with the exception of the beamer guys. I'm American first, Armenian second :^(

>Why the hell would you send your most valuable people to die?
Leftists believe that all people are equal, so to them, no one is expendable.

I don't think they /are/ communists though.

>As an Armenian
flag looks American to me

I used to listen to them in high school but I didn't pay any attention to the lyrics. I saw them at Ozzfest in 2006 and they put on a pretty good show.

Any band that expresses political views and is able to go mainstream has leftist views for sure.

Pretentious as fuck, loathe them and their ilk, and people who would say yeah man "angels deserve to die" as if it's some sort of cathartic and life changing thought. I can see why the Armenian genocide occurred. Still, I will listen to that song just to reminisce about the toxic hell that was early-mid 2000s music thanks to bands like them and the likes of Limp Bizkit.

I thought armenians integrated really well, like indians.
>inb4 poo in loo memes

>As an Armenian
Do you feel like SOAD spreading awareness of the Armenian Genocide is speaking/standing up for your people?
>Armenians in American media are just not how I wish we were represented
I can imagine. I wouldn't want people like the Kardashian family representing my ethnic group in the media, either.

You mean I e a o a I o

especially considering a lot of generals and war heroes became presidents or ran for president, and the fact that they always send whoever wants to sign up, not just "the poor"

They're shitskins with money, what do you expect?

Best system.

maybe not, but they're against "fascism", whatever that means.

The Armenian genocide makes me very sad, but it doesn't do anything. We're not white to white people, but were white to everyone else. So nothing Armenian really matters; the genocide is almost a meme at this point. Obama lied to Armenians (not that I ever bought it, it was clearly lip service and anyone who believes him is a moron who was a bernout anyway) about genocide acceptance and cares more about their relationship with turkey, which i could understand bc our country is not what it used to be. I enjoy having my culture, but I'm saddened by my people (for lack of a better word, I guess) because of the radical extremes they both take. My mainly makes fun of my mom and I, calling us French Jews, because we just love America so much and can't identify with the villager mentality a lot of Armenians here have

Going further on my previous post, here are more reasons why it irks me.

>WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOR
>WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOR
>WHY DO THEY ALWAYS SEND THE POOR

1: for most of history we already sent the rich to war. The Romans had to have huge reforms to allow poor fags and normies into service.

2:My point in my last post, poor people are EXACTLY the people you want to die in a war.

3: Poor people benefit the most from being sent to war. If they survive there is decreased job competition, so higher wages. Also, it allows increase in social mobility, and you end up with a populace they knows how to defend itself.

>Faith No More

Who?

I agree their use of fascism is retarded.
Fascism is a buzzword now.

He looks more Arab. Of course you like that in Canada.

HE WAS NEVER MIXED
HE WAS A FUCKING ARAB ALL ALONG
HOW COULD I NEVER SEE THIS?

>they always send whoever wants to sign up
...which happens to be poor, patriotic rednecks who have nothing else going for them in life. Yet leftists hate them for being nationalist and "racist". It doesn't make sense.

youtube.com/watch?v=i9_hCjcFNO0

I read on some website that the members of SOAD all went to some high school for Armenians in SoCal that was basically an indoctrination mill for "muh genocide". Is that true? If so, it really makes them less original than I thought they were.

I never knew they were left wing until today.

In fact I completely forgot they existed but I enjoyed their music back in the day without understanding jack about their lyrics.

I can still enjoy their music even if they are blue pilled as hell but I find them bearable unlike what happened with Andrew Jackson Jihad.

youtube.com/watch?v=sLg5POTvVzs

They became so blue pilled they changed their name to just AJJ because "Jihad" would be cultural appropiation apparently.

I agree man, when they're not getting all over George W's dick, they tend to talk about fairly interesting things in their lyrics; Hypnotize is a good example of this imo.

MFW Armenians (and Ethiopians and some fuckheads in Syria) are the original Christians.

>GET UP COME ON GET DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS

what did they mean by this?

>I never knew they were left wing until today.
How could you not tell? If you couldn't tell, read their lyrics.
>They became so blue pilled they changed their name to just AJJ because "Jihad" would be cultural appropriation apparently.
They went full SJW.

By the way, instead of copying Faith No More, wouldn't you think they were copying Mr. Bungle, Mike Patton's other band, more? For instance this song:
youtube.com/watch?v=tcQrOG7BJq8

David Draiman walked in on his girlfriend killing herself

I see what you did there :P
The original Christians were Jesus' disciples, weren't they?

I liked the "I PUSH MY FINGERS INTO MY..." song.

Nice b8

See my flag.

I never bothered to check their lyrics until I discovered this thread. I am dead serious. My English Ear wasn't as well trained as it is today so I enjoyed their music on melody and rhythm alone when songs like Toxicity and the like were popular. I never became very into their stuff either so, yeah.

And even when I started to learn English I never used any of their songs as a learning tool. That and I was extremely apolitical back in the day. So any political songs back in the day went right above my head.

I wouldn't know if they are trying to copy Mike Patton's style because I haven't listened to any of their recent stuff but I adore Patton.

A lot of their lyrics could be interpreted as nationalist tbhfam

goddamn i clicked that link and I wish I hadn't. Literally regurgitated MSM talking points in "music" form. What a fucking joke music has become. Having something that isn't shit.

youtube.com/watch?v=Yu4KObwynSc

What other musical groups do you like despite having the opposite views politically? I like a lot of lefty anti-government rap.

The Flobots are preachy as fuck in all their songs, but they inspire a sense of authoritarianism in me whenever I hear one.

The worst part? I was really getting into the band when I first discovered them. Then I listened to that, and any fascination I had for them plummeted hardcore. I still enjoy them but I am glad I never bought any of their shit, fuck them.

Doesn't help that is not their only song against white people (The worst offender being the song titled "Fuck White People"). Keep in mind the band is conformed by whites (Pic related).

youtube.com/watch?v=5YdMAC0vXIA

Thanks user, but don’t worry, there is still heroes left in men.

As long as they keep their politics out of their music I couldn’t care less. Then again I simply enjoy their music and ignore their personal life for the most part, but a solid example would be Morrisey; but he is strangely neutral, sometimes blue pilled (Like his comments on masculinity being detrimental for society) and sometimes red pilled (Calling the Chinese Sub Human and criticizing Brittan for losing it’s identity).

>My English Ear wasn't as well trained as it is today so I enjoyed their music on melody and rhythm alone
I see.
>Toxicity
That song in particular is not overtly political, so I'll give you that.
>A lot of their lyrics could be interpreted as nationalist tbhfam
Yeah, Armenian nationalism. Leftist otherwise though

So long as they hate capitalism I will be more than happy to torrent their crappy music.

thepiratebay.se.com/search/system of a down/0/99/0

How did they come up with that name anyways? It *was* Jihad, but then a bunch of terror started happening unironically so they had to add a FUCKING WHITE MALE to the beginning?

According to an interview and a quick google search:
>Ben and I were at work one day, and we were discussing the presidency of Andrew Jackson, and from that conversation, talking about how he was a very interesting historical figure… I’m gonna blame it on Ben. He said, “Let’s call our band Andrew Jackson Jihad.” And at the time that seemed like a decent idea. We didn’t think our band was going to do very much, and so now we’re stuck with just a ridiculous name.

The rest is here: lewisandhisblog.tumblr.com/post/10488345711/interview-andrew-jackson-jihad-92011

From wikipedia (About giving up the name):
>In 2016, the band officially changed their name from "Andrew Jackson Jihad" to AJJ (a moniker that many of their fanbase had been using to refer to them for several years). In a statement on the bands website, Bonnette wrote "1.) We are not Muslims, and as such, it is disrespectful and irresponsible for us to use the word jihad in our band’s name. 2.) We no longer wish to be a living reminder of president Andrew Jackson. Interesting historical figure as he was, he was an odious person and our fascination with him has grown stale

I know it isn't very political. But you have no idea how many lyrics from back in the day went over my head and I become surprised when I read their meaning in recent years.

>youtube.com/watch?v=sLg5POTvVzs
God damn. The music is so shitty and so is the message. It's like they're trying to make it that way. Seriously, some of the worst music I've ever heard.
>the song titled "Fuck White People"). Keep in mind the band is conformed by whites
Now do you see why people on Sup Forums call these types cuckolds? Can you imagine a Mexican band making a song saying "Fuck Mexicans" or "Fuck Latinos/Mestizos"? It's acceptable for whites to hate themselves, but not acceptable for any other race. Even politically charged Mexican bands like Molotov criticize corruption in the government, while still supporting their people. Ex: Gimme the power ("Viva Mexico, Cabrones!)

But Spain has communist shit like Ska P - El Mestizaje.

>(Pic related)
A bunch of hipster faggot nu-males, no surprise there.

lmao!
yes haha!
That's ok man. It's understandable. I heard from many people that English is hard to learn as a second language, and understanding words of a song with metaphors is harder than literal, casual speech, especially when you weren't paying attention to the lyrics.

The thing is that Mexico is very nationalistic.

We might have a civil war at our hands, we have many issues we have yet to solve and we might be a failure at many aspects, but many of us would defend and fight for our country with the skin of our teeth. I’ve only ever seen women being ashamed of being Mexican (As it is to be expected) or thin wristed faggots that were never involved in any hard labor in their life. I’ve had Socialism and Communism being taught in my school but no one took it seriously. And it’s funny because TV is a great tool to brainwash Mexicans yet we remain as conservative and uncucked as ever.

Nah I have no issue with it. Is cute looking back. I still think System of a down has some good melodies politics aside. English wasn’t an issue for me to learn as you can see, is just that I was merely getting started when those bands were peaking.

>I’ve only ever seen women being ashamed of being Mexican
Malinchistas?
>The thing is that Mexico is very nationalistic.
>many of us would defend and fight for our country with the skin of our teeth.
>we remain as conservative and uncucked as ever.
That's awesome and I have seen it with my own eyes. I dated a Mexican national woman for 3 years and have visited Monterrey twice.

Being nationalistic is normal and healthy, but it's considered bad when whites do it.

>we have many issues we have yet to solve
The main one I can tell, based on what my ex-girlfriend told me is that the rich bastards take all the money away from the poor hard working people. My ex works as an English teacher in Monterrey for the equivalent of $5 USD an hour. That is now below minimum wage here, and teachers here make $30,000 USD a year. It's a shame, really.

i don't think they would mind

Holy shit how can anyone like them?
