Of to a great start to my first season in the championships, just how fucked will I eventually get?

Attached: start of season.png (1916x1080, 241K)

Mid-season fucked.

@mikeSI I don't get how one can win pre-seasons against Alfreton, Parkgate and Stocksbridge, then lose against Derby.

well rest of the league BTFO in the first month

buying 2018 while it's on special lads

haven't played FM since 2012, what am I in for?

>buying 2018
>what am I in for?
A mistake.

;_;

Play the demo. Don't buy until you've played the demo. There are no sliders.

it's too late my friend

I am an impulse buyer

Refun- oh well, why would I prevent people from parting away with their money when they don't care.

I did the same thing as you, FM18 is definitely not one of the better games but it's fun with all the new features etc compared to FM12 at least

Capable match engine, horrendous UI.

just like real life

I don't know how I want to play with my team

Like you do with your kids.

No thank you

>13-0
2bh, I would've used the hairdryer, or at least the "Son I am disappoint" talk. It's soul wrecking, no matter how strong the other side is.

I never lost 13-0?

Nah, once you told me your kids got slapped five ways to Sunday by a team two divisions higher.

12-1 yes.

How do you even deal with that stuff?

Is Andromeda the best skin in 18?

Yes I am asking a dull question like this

Considering that we were champions last season and did that every week to other teams I took it in a positive way and said: "now you know how it feels". Most of them had worked their ass of, we had 2 kids that were 11 in our team that had to fill up which got completely destroyed of course. What do you want me to do scream at them for not being at that level yet? It was a friendly.

And results like that aren't uncommon at a low level like this. I have 2 guys that don't even know how to receive a pass.

I suppose I'm completely underestimating how utterly terrible the football must be.

I mean it's at a village with 500 inhabitants, the level between players varies massively.

18 is one of the better modern releases of fm

Just like you're a notorious disingenuous shitposter, get off your shortbus.

I didnt know EA was involved with FM?

Bought EHM lads
What am I in for?

FM but with hockey. Really.

Well It's 1.99 so I thought what's the worst that could happen you know, Don't have the money for OOTPB19 as of right now so that will be in a few weeks time, really enjoying these types of games

You're in for fun. But also the fact that the superstars of today ( Crosby, Ovechkin ) will be playing 1st or 2nd line line duty until they're 39 or so, because technical attribute decline is very slow and physical decline sets in pretty late.

It was very satisfying though to finally draft a GOAT Calder winner in the first round though after so many busts.

Alright so I'm the guy who bought 18 last night.
Played 3 months of 15, but have essentially been playing 13 for about 5 years.

Am I right in thinking the tactics/match engine hasn't changed, and that they've just 'hidden' the sliders underneath layers upon layers of buttons? They've also hidden the individual instructions by making them part of the roles, by the looks of things.

Is there no way to just revert the tictac creator to 'classic' mode?

>Am I right in thinking the tactics/match engine hasn't changed, and that they've just 'hidden' the sliders underneath layers upon layers of buttons?

Pretty much

I love him because he was always consistent. And unlike any current Sharks player in real life he was a wrecking ball who would throw out hits after hits in every game while being relied opon to score 25+ goals a season. But being assigned the role of power forward does hinder him alittle bit unfortunately since that distributes his stats away from skating. Kind of wish he was a two-war forward or whatever instead so his attributes were more balanced. Despite his shortcomings he was rated as the best right winger in the NHL.

Awesome addition, Miles. Great.

>dangerously
How many leagues does one have to run in order for it to run dangerously?

Do tactics evolve in this game? Like, for example, what happened when Conte came to the league viz. lots of teams going to a back three. Or the general trend away from 4-4-2 and now the general trend back towards it?

God I fucking hate Miles so fucking much.
Every fucking time anyone points out problems with this buggy fucking shitty series his excuse is 'B-B-B-B-UT IT SOMETIMES HAPPENS IN REAL LIFE', even when it happens CONSTANTLY on the fucking game.

In real life teams play better with 10 men sometimes. On this game it happens every time

In real life some teams struggle to beat weaker teams and play well against good teams. On this game every player controlled team is like that

The game is broken and he knows it but he uses the 'real life examples' bullshit to selectively prove his fucking stupid and retarded point. Imagine if Miles Jacobson decided to make a fucking peanut eating simulator. And every fucking 5 peanuts your character would suddenly develop a fucking severe peanut allergy, go into shock and die, and you'd complain and Miles would link to medical journals detailing the rare cases of people developing a sudden peanut allergy and say 'HAH HAPPENS IN REAL LIFE MATE YOU DUMMY NO BUG HERE'. Imagine Miles Jacobson making a fucking gay bumming simulator and every 5 or 6 thrusts your characters penis literally snaps in half and he'd just link to a fucking gay porn of some guys cock snapping and say 'HAHA HAPPENS ALL THE TIME BRO REALISM HERE WE COCKBUMMING INTERACTIVE GUYS ON POINT'.

Fuck this egotistical cunt. He thinks because weird things happen sometimes in reality that them happening all the time due to bugs is justified. Well fans don't murder game devs in real life often but when I fucking slit his fat throat my excuse will be 'HAH HAPPENS ALL THE TIME BROS' fucking gay prick. I am coming for him.

Calm down lad. Maybe go get a drink or something.

Well, you will find that some iterations of the game are certainly biased towards certain tactics, as 4-4-2 during Leicester's winning season or a similar reaction Chelsea's success with 3-5-2 and 3-4-3. But no such "development" in any one game itself, if that's what you mean. The AI doesn't pick tactics in that way.
You are right.

Your typical Huddersfield born and bred surname.

Attached: 20180323165051_1.jpg (1366x705, 177K)

The LeStrange family is quite famous in Norfolk. Not quite Huddersfield.

>But no such "development" in any one game itself, if that's what you mean. The AI doesn't pick tactics in that way.
Yeah, that is what I mean. Pity, it should work like that. It would be cool if players became 'obsolete' too because managers' ideas on the game changed.

(Assertive) You need to calm down.

So it is quite random what formation a manager chooses, but as you will see in their profiles, they have preferred formation, defensive, and attacking formation, which they pick depending on the reputation of the team they meet. You will also see that some managers (if you look somewhere in their history) change preferred formations for example when going to another team. But all in all, what formation will work depends on the MEs bias towards certain structures, the current availability of players that will do a good job in such a formation, and so on. From the start of the game, this is of course designed to make sense and mimic real life trends, but as time progresses, they tend to buy "random" players that are surplus or unfit for certain tactics, and do other stupid shit. So no real sense of making rational tactical decisions other than selecting certain tactics in relation to the opposition's reputation. And some managers will have preferences to make a lot of tactical changes during matches (AMR and AML on rotation, for example), or a lot of mentality changes between attacking, contain, standard, etc. As far as I can see, it is no kind of "reason" to it, other than them being programmed to make random changes.

>In real life teams play better with 10 men sometimes. On this game it happens every time
This is so true on some versions, holy shit. There's nothing more comfy than getting a red card after already being up a goal

>tfw getting flashbacks to my first lyn save
>key player was out with cancer for 2 years
>kicked him to the curb since we had promoted and he was garbage when he was off chemo

Must be quite a few game installments ago since that garbo team was in a playable league.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Lyn in fm16? I thought not. It's not a story a leaf will tell you.

It's a FM legend, Lyn in 2016 was in a dark place, in the first half of their season they got 2 points in the first half of their season, then sacked their coach after which they would get one of the biggest point tallies of the league.

But alas it was not enough, and on the final day they won 9-2 only to be relegated on goal difference after their rivals vĂ¥lerenga 2 lost (not on purpose, promise) to the team that survived. Thus eliminating lyn from playable leagues.

Give it a rest Norbro mate, ffs.

If they had only learned to do finances properly that wouldn't have happened.

The worst part was they got raped by the FA after dominating the league the season after, but since the league was restructured they didnt get promoted...

Last year the FA tried to fix it by giving them a laughable punishment by only docking one point after they played a game with a suspended player, but they managed to bottle the lead by drawing in the final round failing to get promoted by one point.

Hope they can promote this year.

I suppose I shouldn't be too mean. After all, watching Brann beat Lyn in the 2004 cup final is one of my most treasured football memories. So I can't say they didn't give me anything.

>tfw no off the ball movement for the last 10 or so years

hows your managing career panning out? Tapped up by ajax yet?

we just started this season, second game of this season is tomorrow, we lost the first one 6-3 away.

no, I will when I don't think they are working hard enough.

It's half-managing and half-babysitting considering what Tungsten said about it, so you can also try to pat their back.

But it's realistic. Check out how Cavani doesn't move an inch there. None of the PSG strikers made moves in such gap during the whole match!
