I've always heard good things about Japan's educational system, and the whole culture in general. I'm a huge anime fan, and I've started studying the language seriously recently.
Recently, I found out Singapore is in PISA's (an international educational test) first places. I did a little bit of research and found out Singapore went from being one of the most dangerous places on Asia, and Earth, to quite an advanced, educated and SAFE nation.
I'm very curious about what makes both nations great, specially Singapore, because of its huge, sudden leap-forward. Could anyone who's been there, or born and raise in the area illuminate me on these matters, please?
South Korea also ranks high in PISA. It actually saddened me to hear it is the #1 suicide nation in the world right now... I'd also like to know about S. Korea, if possible. Thank you.

There is a great variety of it, and usually one school has 15~20 clubs such as football, baseball, basketball, orchestra, manga. oye por cierto te vuelvo a repetir, no te traumes con un país nada más o con una evaluación internacional a gran escala como PISA o con una estadística o con una opinión, siempre tienes que ver el contexto y en este caso, por lo menos de lo que hemos hablado hasta ahora, es que PISA solo nos da información sobre los "estudiantes de 15 años que van a la escuela", si la evaluación se hubiera hecho no sé en señores de cuarenta años por ejemplo, los resultados serían muy diferentes, ve por ejemplo los resultados de PIAAC, PIAAC es otra evaluación a gran escala que al igual que PISA trata de evaluar las competencias de las personas (muy diferente a otras evaluaciones internacionales como TIMSS, PIRLS o LLECE por ejemplo), el marco analítico y la evaluación en sí no es exactamente igual a PISA pero como te digo estas dos evalauciones tratan de evaluar más bien "lo que la gente puede hacer con lo que sabe y no nada más qué sabe", en fin, la población objetivo en PIAAC es "la población no institucionalizada de 16-65 años de edad" y como puedes ver en la imagen aquí Singapur y otros países que recientemente han tenido una gran desarrollo como Corea del Sur ya no salen tan altos mientras que los países con una gran tradición en educar a su población como los países nórdicos, Australia, Japón y Nueva Zelanda les va muy bien en PIAAC, y esto es un punto muy importante porque mucha gente en occidente como otakus, "Asia enthusiasts" y demás, tienden a romantizar a los países del Este de Asia y esto nos impide ver cualquier situación (no nada más la educación) de una manera más objetiva

First I must say it's not a serious problem. The stereotype is extremely exaggerated abroad and often cited as an example of "weird Japan". In every developed countries people have less babies, so is Japan, and some of them still have a sexual relationship with others. When it comes to their personality, dunno why. However, I can say young generation are much more sensitive than older generation. The stereotype is formed by older generation (like millennium generation and boomers in America " back in era, I was working so hard! OK your major is Education, so I will give you some examples. Since your major is Education, I think you already know education in Japan is not good compared to those in Europe, especially Scandinavian (; ;) Especially, English education is shit af as you can see my Anglais. We(East Asian cunts like Japan Korea China and maybe Singapore?) are exposed to a highly stressful exam competition. As a result, students sometimes commit a suicide. I don't say this educational system is a big failure because some statistics show students in East Asia do better at exams than most of students from the rest of the world. However we are said to be " standardized, normalized" compared to other students whose individualities are highly esteemed. So this is where we should change.
