The battle of Moscow(Битвa зa Mocквy) drom 1985. An epic 6 hour long movie that depitcs the first 6 months of the Great Patriotic War.

Yojimbo

100% seriously

The fact that this movie was made in 1931 blows my mind every time I watch it.

Excellent choice, but Rashomon may be superior.

I guess Drive or Raging Bull. I want to get into French/Italian film some day though.

Harakiri is dope too

Back to the future

I don't watch movies.

I haven't watched a movie in years. Hate em

this film looks fantastic. I can't believe I haven't heard of it before. hopefully there is an English subtitled version somewhere

Night of the demon 1957, is one of my best horror movie

I haven't watched a western movie in years.wasting around an hour or two of my time watching something i could have read in 30 mins is unproductive and plain stupid

not the same kind of horror, but good too

Seventh Seal
Fanny & Alexander

Toss up between Dr. Strangelove and Blade Runner.
Can pretty much recite the lines along with both.

Excellent choise user, I think it's in my top five, however Alien is my favorite film:

-an original story with a classic theme, but which made that theme "serious" and not hokey as in years past
-fun spaceships and monsters
-great sets and practical effects, things that were actually built and filmed
-led to Sigourney's career in sci-fi, lots of fun pictures around this
-suspense. Long periods of the film just taking its time.
-the best opening credits sequence in film history, also one of the best-remembered taglines in film history
-a highly original creature which now stands alongside the old hollywood monsters as emblems of fear in the movies
-Academy award winner specifically for the artistic contribution of the creator of that creature
-selected for preservation due to cultural merit
-so far, the main cast members are dying in the order that they died in the film

I can talk endlessly about Alien. The older I get, the more I know about it, and the more I love it as a film.

probably goodfellas. everytime I watch it I'm locked in for the full duration. pretty much any scorsese film.

as far as foreign films go. I really like french new wave stuff, fellini, kurosawa, and tarkovsky. out of all foreign films I've seen I'd have to pick la dolce vita.

i cried when i saw the end of prometheus sequel

I always felt like the italian neo realism movement was boring. I guess I never really had a vested interest in the ordinary lives of the italian people of that time. I much prefer everything fellini did right after that movement. 8 1/2, la dolce vita, juliet of the spirits-- just great films.

Samurai film is good, and Samourai is bon as well.

Speaking of Alien, Prometheus reminds me of this quote " The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts"
Gang movies are full of masterpieces. Calito's Way is also noice

Lionheart.

I still listen to the soundtrack

My go to "Feel Good Film" is Kiki's Delivery Service (In English).

It's probably not my favourite film, but it's the one I could watch again and again.

Paths of Glory.
Surprised it hasn't been cited tbqh.

>Surprised it hasn't been cited tbqh.
I haven't actually seen that one, but I have seen all of the other kubrick films.

I'm surprised to see no hitchcock here, but now that I'm here uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
vertigo and rear window and near perfect films.

It's hard to beat Breakfast at Tiffany's for nostalgia. It's my favourite classic film.

NOOOOOOOOOO Cunt for the old man, good film in recent years

The Virgin Spring is another great one from Bergman.

The assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford

> Italian Films
> No Cinema Paradiso

Come on user

Alfredo~ Alfredo~
Toto~

Need to watch, he's done so many movies.

Coens are so great. Cold yet funny movies.

I've never seen Coens' films other than that lol. Recommendations?

Big Lebowski
Fargo
Inside Llewyn Davis
O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Thx Greek san! What's your favorite film?

Either Dr. Stranglelove, Lost in Translation or L.A. Confidential.

I haven't seen L.A Confidential, but watched the rest

A Serious Man, Burn After Reading also great

what about aliens? i think it has much more memorable moments and characters, a sequel that plays its cards right.
RIP Hudson

...

Certainly has great moments but it's pretty silly at times. Liked it more as a kid

There will be blood

It is my fav movie too. Have you read some of the books? are they good?

Korean films >>>>>>>>>>>> Japanese """"""""films""""""""

Give me some Korean films, especially war films.

Homoerotic drama full of sexual tension with Omar Sharif set in WW1 is unironically is the best film in history of cinematography
Peter O'Toole is a fucking ugly neanderthal tho, worst choice

Starship Troopers

>Peter O'Toole is a fucking ugly neanderthal tho, worst choice
He is more handsome than any other actor throughout the film history

what do you guys think of city of god? Man i really enjoyed that movie, really miss those times where movies are great source of entertainment and knowledge. I can't believe im living in a world of capeshit and cgi-pasta. I'm aslo glad BR 2049 came as a beacon of hope

No he's not he look's like a white nigger
but then he's irish so i guess he is nigger

not war, but Oldboy is holyshit nutsack amazing

Watched it many times.

I watched it :D Korean film industry is N1 unlike heap of shit in Japan. See this literal shit
It seems interesting

I liked that movie. I think it is on my top 10 movies. The thing is ive watched it so many times ive kinda lost the love for it. If you are looking for something similar id recommend Elite squad

Ive watched BR in cinema, it was pretty different since it wasnt an usual action movie or a capeshit as you have said. Even though ive watched the first movie, I went to the cinema expecting too much action. But it was a good movie nevertheless imho

not war movie but goksunk from 2016 is a masterpiece

Reading Wikipedia's outline is enough to attract me. In Japan, rampant commercialism produces incredibly shitty films. As far as I can see, the intention of producers and the quality of films seem to be esteemed as much as possible.

i loved those school gang movies released some years ago, cant remember name but it was good entertainment, also first battle royal was excellent.
too bad japan keep producing anime based live movies.

Film industry in Japan commited a suicide. TRISTE!

oh its not only japan, hollywood and french cinema are also fucked.. we really live in the world of idiocracy movie lol

thanks. ill put it on my must watch list! i've watched God of war umpteen times too and its definitely a top 10
i watched BR in the cinema first time and i was astounded and blown away by its cinematography, it was a slow and meticulous 3hr journey, came out felt bewildered at some parts but it still felt enjoyable and gratifying from the norm of today's blockbusters where it felt like bubblegum (chew and throwaway) . My friends who didnt manage to catch the first didn't really get the whole replicant and human relation saga and thus it was an A-OK experience.

can't wait to get my hands on the many cuts bluray of BR2049
nah, you guys are the best at good animated movies like Spirited away, GITS, metropolis, paprika and my all time favorite Akira

Fucking Stalker. Tarkovsky is a genius.

of course, too many good movies to name them all, russian version of war and peace is dope too

The Thing or Alien
