Britons and Aztecs had cool castle units
britons were fun as hell because low skilled players like me couldnt deal with Longbowmen spam, so i could siege castles with just archers. I wanted to like vikings but they have no cav and their elites are honestly not that good, the civ that gets light cavalry that eventually becomes completly free with tech is also fun because you can drown your enemies in a neverending tide of horsemen

I main as Vikings due to being spoiled by the special units regenerating health, but other than that I like the Chinese special unit. African Kingdoms civs are all memes, but the Gbeto unit (the african woman who rapidly throws sabers) is pretty OP if you spam them.

AoE2 has aged fairly well, but the unit management and path-finding is ancient so it can feel clunky compared to modern RTS.
The AI is really predictable too.

Aztecs are awesome, that expansion pack is great.
Great game too, loved the single player campaign.
I played AoE 3 a lot more exactly because of this. Lots of QoL improvements and gameplay is really good too, it's really underrated when compared to its predecessor.
I stopped playing aoe2 online because are retarded turks and subhuman spics like yourself
