small population (compared to its size), not enough babies, mafia stealing all the money

Brazil is the country of the future, and will always be.

Canada is already richer than Russia.

The only reason why russia can push its agenda is because of their huge military budget. They spend way more than countries like canada.

The Russian economy will continue to degrade with time, and this will make things even worse.

Russia's glory days are gone.

Russia has:
>small birthrate
>poor living conditions
>stagnant, mineral and fossil fuel based economy
>economic freedom seriously restricted by extensive corruption
>extremely dysfunctional democracy dominated by oligarchic interests

Russia is a gas station

America

America has not only a strong power,
there are many friends(Japan, and the UK, and France etc) in the United States.

Russia's economy is growing again and will continue to grow in the future, just at a much slower pace than in the 2000s (close to 2% annually)

I anticipate a tripolar world order structured around centers of power in China, Germany/EU, and USA

Also Russia's GDP would grow by 40% if they would get rid of the black market. The lack of law enforcement is holding them down

One fourth of Russians don't even have indoor plumbing. It's a paper tiger held together by suffering and blini.

China and EU.

Possibly India but they have a huge mountain to climb.

Russia, Latin America, Africa and muslim countries lack in mentality even if they have the resources and population to be great.

Brazil is a fucking dumpster shithole

>this OP
>no indian in the thread
i call bullshit

why are japs so retarded? maybe its only a language thing but they still should be able to get it

He's trying why do you gotta give the guy shit about it? Aren't americans supposed to do that?

Those 4 countries are way to divided by race and culture.

It's time to let a sensible and homogeneous collection of countries take over.

brazil will never be a superpower. their geography is just fucked up.

There are no superpowers left in the world. The only country that might have the capability to be one, the United States, is no longer interested in playing that role.

lol Brazil is always the next superpower

China

India 2070-2100.

But this is wrong. Since 2010 or so there are no superpowers and there will be no more.

The USA can’t make everyone do its bidding anymore, and power is much more multipolar now than ever before.

indian superpoower by 2020

Having allies has very little meaning for total power.

If China wanted it could have dozens of allies. But then they’d all leach off of it and get China involved in meaningless wars.

Huh. Almost reminds me of some nation?

India already is a superpoower.

Well China is only interested about economy, not imperialism. That's why I mentioned economy in the starting post. It will be very important in the future.

China is an effectively constrained power. It's bordered on all sides by countries that, if not outright hostile, are at least aloof towards them. They also have massive demographic and financial crises brewing at the same time (earlier this week, several large Chinese companies ran out of money to even pay their employees) and the country itself has roughly the same amount of arable land as Mexico (about 15% the US's) so it can't feed its current population without imports.

Oh, and that's not even getting into the heavy dependence on Middle Eastern oil.

China is going back to the being a low value-added economic engine (the Middle Kingdom) like it was prior to European colonialism. It simply doesn't have the geography to be a world-spanning behemoth like the USA.

I would agree. Even more so than today.

>effectively constrained power
Define this
>bordered by outright hostile or aloof nations
Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, and North Korea are either allies or friends of China. That’s 90% of their border.
>massive demographic crisis
Far overblown. They have 1.6-1.7 kids per woman since 1995 and before 1995 they had 3-4 per woman. Their population expands by 10 million each year. UN demographers just raised their peak population prediction to 1.5 billion in 2045. By that point demographics will be even less meaningful (robots, automation, drones).
>financial crisis
No such thing. Public and private indicators in China show continued confidence and economic expansion. Consumer confidence hit three consecutive record highs over the last three quarters.
>a few companies ran out of money to pay employees
This happens every fucking day in the USA (and every nation). That’s called bankruptcy. That’s part of the free market process.
>same amount of arable land as Mexico
[Citation needed]
The North China Plain alone is as big as Mexico.
>heavy dependence on Middle Eastern oil.
Actually, the share of Middle East oil to China is at a record low. Russia and Africa provide most of the oil now. Update your memes.
>going back to being a low value economy
Except the opposite is happening. There’s a reason China’s economy grows by $2 trillion yearly.

tl;dr you are wrong

>Canada (richer than Russia)
it was always.
>Stagnant and degrading economy
See the graph, in overall the Russian economy has grown from 4 times (PPP) to 10 times (nominal), the sanctions where horseshit in comparison to the 2008 economomical crisis.
>Small Birth rate
Increasing

The problem is people think that China will try to grow itself like the US did. That's not the case. They ride with agreements and economy. Their plan is not to inferfere other countries' political systems. And speaking of crisis in China is just hysterical. Of course medias want us to think China is the source of problems, when in fact we created our own economical problems.

I'm gonna go way off the board. Qatar

>Goldman Sachs
Why aren't these guys a meme yet? They predicted the field BRICS and just lost 400 Millions dollars in Venezuela this year

Exactly. China will continue to grow quickly and get more powerful.

We are seeing a new USA develop in China. Expecting that to collapse is like those European naysayers who claimed we would collapse in on ourselves during the civil war while our economy was too “low value” and agricultural.

Well, by 1890 we were the biggest economy. By 1910 we were the most powerful industrial nation. By 1940 we had the strongest military. By 1950 we were the most politically powerful. By 1990 we were the superpower with no competitors.

But keep expecting a nation of 1.4 billion hard working people to fail.

they also pretty much caused the 2007 recession

america will be the only superpower for at least 50-70 years more

I think India has a chance.

USA is already a superpower, not a potential one.

I was a bit harsh, sorry
The thing is that USA is already a superpower and the post was clearly not reffering to them
USA can't become a superpower because it already is one

not india, its overpopulated and wayyy too decentralized to not balkinize before it becomes a superpower

If china can make friends with enough countries to feed them in the future they will be fine
that is, depending on what a recession or other civil disaster looks like, and if they find a way to help their future future massive senior position

russia can be if it finds a way to fight corruption (without a civil war), and maybe breed more
they have unlimited potential because of siberias riches alone, and if they develope space industrialization fast enough then they will be unstoppable
but they always find a way to keep rampant corruption

brazil is not going to be, unless they annex half of south america, and get rid of their corruption problem, not to mention crime
only way they become a superpower is if thhey discover the cure for cancer in the rainforest, and find a way to market it for all the worlds cash

australia or southafrica can could be too if either get more infrastructure development they could be great
south africa once developed, test, and created a small arsonal of nuclear weapons, then gave them up a few decades ago, if they overcome their racial issues they can be great again
and australias main probelm is their small population, but they are pretty much the southern hemisphere's siberia, a huge chunk of land with tons of resources all owned by one nation, that is underdeveloped

usa has that perfect mix of resources and people, so even if we are no longer the leader we will still be great
and we already have a head start (but also public infrastructure that is 70+ years old and about to fail)

India 2020

Why is Russia not as powerful as it once was?

USA is not a superpower anymore. That ended in 2010-2014.

Let me explain why
>GDP share
>Geopolitical events
>Domestic politics
The best examples are Syria, Crimea, Philippines, AIIB, and Trump.

none. the concept of superpowers is going to be relegated to the history books after America collapses and we transition to a multipolar world.

dude, if Brasil is like 10 times more likely to become a superpower than South Africa
(And don't get me wrong, they still have very low chances)

>food

This is retarded. Most industrialized nations have at least a year of canned food saved up for their people. China lone has 3 years because of their autistic fear of embargo in the 1960s-1980s.

Nowadays if you threaten to starve millions of people in a nuclear power you get nuked.

>Increasing
no its not, russians arent having more kid, its tatars and other churkas

>after
Already happened

The multipolar part.
Collapse comes next

loss of land, population, resources
and they havnt gotten rid of bribes or nepotism in their society

None. Superpowers won't be a thing anymore.

Russia suffered greatly in both World War I and the Russian Civil War, and did almost all of the bleeding in the second World War for little gain. additionally they've lost control of Ukraine which would be equivalent to Australia losing all of New South Wales and underwent nearly a century of communism which was directly hostile to the concept of Russian nationalism and empowered minority groups which continues to undermine the unity of the present day Russian Federation as well as leaving behind large amounts of entrenched corruption.

The world isn't multipolar. If you think China can compete with the US anywhere outside of raw economic output you're a fucking retard. People either forget or underestimate how strong our country really is. Iraq had one of the largest militaries in the world and we conquered their country in 3 weeks.

>unless they annex half of south america
???

why would the want, or even win anything from annexing half of south america? they already have access to every resource they need, they just have to pay for them.

>Nowadays if you threaten to starve millions of people in a nuclear power you get nuked.
thats only because the current governments in control of the nukes can produce enough food/water to feed their populace
that wont always be the case

China will be unparalleled. In like 10 years it will surpass USA, and then 10 years after that it will be so much more powerful than every other country that no one will compete. Like USA was in the 90s and early 2000s.

A U S T R A L I A

It's unreasonable to suspect that the country which can't field a working aircraft carrier is going to surpass USA in the next decades.

China will collapse.

India, China, Brazil

>units of "power"

lol

>France
Maybe EU too?

russia is near every important country in this world and theyre shit
how can a country be so shit

>France
>more powerful than China & Russia
wat the fugg

If they kept Alaska they would be on North America too.

russia has a lot of potential
the only problem is its inhabited by Russians

That was different people.

every country has tried to invade you at one point to you have to focus more on keeping your borders secure rather than on the well-being of the citizens
besides that russia still has a better higher hdi than all of its asian neighbors

France is that powerful? Also surprised to see Australia here.

Good post
Newfriend please.

Very good, Vladmir. This makes me laugh.

Russia is not as shit as the memes suggest, more like Argentina tier

...

...

russia is much worse than argentina
hdi is only one measurement
factor in corruption, oligarchic government, AIDS infestation, alcoholism, suicide rates, freedom of the press, etc

>its tatars
They are better russians than russians themselves to be quite honest.

If they kept Alaska the united kingdom would've taken it on the Russian civil war T B H

...

>India not on the list
Memes aside I am shocked that most people don't realize how ridiculously powerful India is.

Canada
Global warming will increase our arable land and climate
Immigration and liberal child tax credits and family programs will boost our population
As water becomes the new oil Canada will rise since 1/5 of all fresh water is here and we have more lakes than every other country combined
With our reputation and soft power we will take control of a willing world glad to hand us the keys rather than slavs, chinks, poos, africans, or yanks

russia could be decent but russians need to be taught democracy and free market principles, but actual ones, not yeltsin style
afaik siberia has a history of some sort of libertarian like attitude, not unlike our pioneers, could be a good place to model

...

>global infrastructure
useless measurement
russia has great railways for transportation of goods and supplies, big woop, how does that affect your average moscow resident again?
