He wanted a strong, peaceful galaxy free of the religious interference of the Jedi on the government.
Remember, he was elected democratically and it was the Jedi who tried to assassinate him.
Palpatine was in the right.
Ayden Cook
It was the Jedi who kept causing fights, true.
Leo Watson
Unaccountable extrajudicial killings and a corrupt relationship with aristocrats from certain systems. Where was the oversight? Its "good" because Yoda says so? Please.
He was absolutely correct to get rid of them.
Grayson Sullivan
>Imagine being a citizen and having your democratically elected official threatened and arrested by the Jedi without an order from a judge with the excuse of he being a 'sith'
>What the fuck it is a Sith you say? That enemy the jedi has but hasn't appeared in 1000 years, sounds like a falseflag they created for undermining the power of democracy and prolonging the war.
>Wait, wasn't Dooku, the separatist leader, also a Jedi in his youth?
Ethan Moore
Why didn't the Jedi go through the courts if they believed in the republic?
Jonathan Cook
It doesn't make sense in context of the original trilogy, but OP is right.
I want a series with an crazed sith Lord just casually ruling over parts of the galaxy. This absurdly powerful sith with a massive army who just doesn't care and would rather meditate and lift weights all day. A shadowy figure known for being a benevolent ruler, not because he cares, but because he really doesn't. I dunno, could be top tier amusing.
Blake Bailey
Did you forget the part where they built a fucking weapon that blows populated planets up?
Nicholas Williams
Probably there are no legal grounds for being impeached and proccesed for being a Sith and they couldn't prove either he was controlling both sides of the war because all the people that knew this and could flip on Sheev were dead at that point.
Also Palpatine was revered as the reason they won the war and a hero of the republic while the Jedi were treated like shit after the war and Sheev had many arguments to make it look like they were trying to take over
Brandon Reed
They didn't have proofs to incriminate Sheev.
Joseph Gomez
>free of the religious interference of the Jedi on the government. Right, so another religious body, the Sith, could run the government. Not much of an improvement
Joshua Sanchez
And?
Gavin Long
How many democratically elected chancellors did the Sith attempt to assassinate?
Checkmate.
Jason Jackson
thats bad. Big no no. You cant just blow up planets populated with people, aliens or w.e. And be considered a "good guy" or "in the right"
They fricken blew up Alderaan just to test it out.
Lincoln Morgan
>just to test it out Nope, Alderaan was in a state of rebellion.
Also, >you can't blow up planets >It's ok for religious rebels from the desert to blow up populated space stations the hypocrisy
Kayden Nguyen
Rebels already canonized the Yuuzhan Vong from beyond the Galaxy.
So Sheev is officially the Star Wars hero.
Jason Ramirez
When the space station is basically a military base blowing up entire planets, then I'm pretty sure everyone would agree its okay to do so
Adrian Johnson
>blowing up entire planets Name two planets it blew up.
>I'm pretty sure everyone would agree its okay Evidently not, bantha-brain
Leo Lewis
Alderaan being the most obvious one, and whatever the name of the planet was in Rogue one.
Dominic Richardson
The Empire literally did nothing wrong, 30 years after they were gone the New Republic was so incompetent they allowed a planet destroying weapon to be built and destroy their capital and main fleet
Liam Morales
>Name two planets it blew up. Alderaan is the only planet it outright obliterated, but Jedha and Scarif are almost certainly structurally uninhabitable after being fired upon.
Gabriel Gray
Sure you can, if means the war ends more rapidly with an overall lower net loss of life.
Bentley Reed
The space station was a military target.
Levi Bailey
>lower net loss of life >Blowing up an entire planet
You're not bombing a town, or a country, or a state. You're blowing up the entire planet. People who arent even involved or know what the fuck is going on with any wars are getting killed.
Julian Morgan
The Republic was the EU, the Empire was completely incompetent, and the Rebellion was a bunch of SJWs.
The Confederacy was the only true heroes.
Isaac Hill
Also got rid of the (((banking clans))) Based Sheev did literally nothing wrong
