Monarchies: Good or Bad?

Monarchies: Good or Bad?

good

/thread

americans romanticize them from watching too much game of thrones while in reality some of the most cucked european countries have monarchies

...

depends on the people, pretty dated fro western societies. shitskin islanders and africans probably do OK with monarchy

>americans romanticize them
Do you know how America was founded?

>succession crises every so often
>no promise you won't get a slobbering retard like Charles II of Spain
>monarchs care more for their dynasties than the people of the country
>strongly linked to the Church
>relies on cult of personality too much

No thanks. Off with their heads, all of them.

As a half breed with Dutch blood, god save the king.

Go away evel dogger

do you know why the office of President exists?

to manage executive authority while being limited by the checks and balances of the federal government

Both. It depends whos the monarch.

The benefit of monarchy is that if the monarch goes ham you could always have mobs of angry people kill everyone.

In our system, people express their anger by yelling about it on the internet and doing protest votes. Nothing changes and people are more likely to be complacent. Less likely to get mad enough to run the streets.

Bad, but Sup Forums will obsess over them because Sup Forums will vouch for anything seen as traditionalism simply because it's traditionalism.

Pretty much the same retardation from the left that supports anything progressive simply because it's progressivism.

Republic is best we have, honestly. Pure democracy is shit, but concentration of power into a monarchy almost always results in 99% of the population's lives being shit.

>take an arbitrary family
>shower them with wealth, attention, treat their decisions as divine statute
>hope they don't become r-selected over time

How retarded can you get, really.

Usually bad but man tends to romanticize things like loyalty and honor so submission to a King/greater purpose seems beautiful in a way.

>Give people power to vote for regular people to represent them
>Hope the representatives actually does their job
>Hope people are intelligent enough to know who has their interests at heart

>Representatives do nothing but support oligarchy
>Foster the illusion of control by having elections
>Force people to choose between a noose or a gun

>Another terrible person that doesn't care about their interests continues to lie in their face and nothing changes
>People have no power

>Start it all over again next election cycle
>rinse and repeat

How pathetic can you get, really.

Monarchies are redpill, but it needs to be relevant in some way and not just ceremonial.

The royal family shares an ethnic and cultural bond with the population. As a result the royals need the demographics in the nation to remain consistent in order to maintain any sort of relevance/legitimacy.

Just look at what happened to France's demographics after they slaughtered their monarchy and went full liberal. The politicians in those systems have no long term loyalty to the people. This leaves a nation open to abuse immigration to re-shape a nation from the outside in order to secure long-term political power, as we have seen with left wing parties all over the West.

Go away Evil Dogger

well yes the office serves that function, but a lot of people wanted a monarch figure at the time the constitution was being drafted, that's why the office was created.

Representatives stay in long enough to cause further damage but not long enough to cause beneficial change. Too short of a time to gain enough support from the people. Not enough time for the representatives to care. No real consequence for doing a bad job other than people hating you but many will still like you anyway because people are dumb.

Bad thing about monarchies is they could have total control and cause serious damage and can do pretty terrible things to the people. The good thing is the loyalty you mention. There is actual consequences for a king that isn't worth the peoples loyalty. They can be killed by anyone at any moment.

I'm not religious so no. Unless the king was legitimately a god, it'd just be medieval garbage.

The image the king has is far more important than whether or not he's a God.

The image represents the high ideals of the people. He represents the soul of their nation. The living embodiment of their values.

Better than democracy

I think a constitutional monarchist government built from the ground up for a modern nation could be neat. Something where the monarch has considerable power, but not absolute with rules keeping dynastic shit out of politics and devolved local authority to elected representitives.
