NBC Picks Up DC Comics Comedy "Powerless," Releases First Image

"Powerless" is a go at NBC, as the DC Comics workplace comedy starring Vanessa Hudgens, Alan Tudyk and Danny Pudi has been ordered to series.

According to Variety, "Grease Live" star Vanessa Hudgens will play Emily, a "spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes."

The official synopsis is as follows:

>When Emily stands up to one of these larger-than-life figures that she accidentally becomes a cult “hero” in her own right — even if it’s just to her group of lovably quirky co-workers. Now, while she navigates her normal, everyday life against an explosive backdrop, Emily might just discover that being a hero doesn’t always require superpowers.

Okay. I admit. I'm a marvel fan and I've never watched any DC shows but I might pick this up cause of the cast
No other reason

oh boy does this sound insufferable.

Sure NBC, after canceling Constantine I'll watch DC The Office.

her grin is the cutest thing in the world, I'm sold.

...

...

Crimson Fox

>mfw when Hudgens has to do the "leaked nude pictures of a superheroine" episode

Gay. I'll never watch a single episode.

Sure, why not.

...

not sure about this but

>Alan Tudyk

i've major homocrush on him, so i'll check out the pilot

>Damage Control got scooped

yah blew Mahvel

what's wrong with her face

Vanessa Hudgens?
Huh. I thought Disney channel executed all of their stars if they failed to become pop stars.

what do i do now Sup Forums disagrees on a given work how do i know whether or not i will be accepted by my peers by consuming it

Can't wait.

The concept of this show sounds pretty lame but I'll give it a shot because I do like Danny Pudi and Alan Tudyk a whole lot.

Just decide when the Talkback tread happens

>quirky co-workers
Kill me

screencrush.com/nbc-powerless-dc-crimson-fox-marvin-wendy/

so Big Belly Burger will be in this. Flash crossover when

You can watch whatever you want dude I'm just not into "quirky office defies those dumb heroes!!!!".

Maybe I'll be wrong, it happens.

cant wait for the porn parody to come out so i can see how much better the costume is.

Ah, they dragged poor Abed into this

* two -- to repeat -- TWO lead actresses on DC shows have had their private nudes leaked in weird ways (that is, not through the Fappening)

* Vanessa's stuff was hacked multiple before the Fappening and when she was jailbait

* and Melissa's stuff was really high quality. Like, a professional photographer actually took pictures of her having sex.

Bizarre shit like this is why I'll always love DC, through thick and thin.

>im a (1 of big 2) fan

Kys then leave

So wait is Abed or Tudyk not-Ted Kord?

>This is all happening in Abed's Dreamatorium .

It's hard to find work when Hydra is your reference.

>I'm a marvel fan so I don't watch DC
lol you fell for the company wars meme? You know Marvel won't actually pay you for this haha

Tudyk

But the dean still has a job asking for money

>supergirl nudes
thank you Sup Forumsmrade

Go drink bleach

>Tudyk playing ted
That would be a dream come true.

Only if we get Fillion as Booster Gold.

She was nude in Homeland too.

...

And adam baldwin as captain atom.

Some of the jokes from the pilot script leak were okay.

Like her job being at Retcon Insurance.

Also if one of the main cast doesn't become or isn't already a superhero I'll eat my hat.

Didn't the character descriptions already hint that Tudyks character is?

>stands up to one of these larger than life figures
>stand up to a superhero
What is this, the boys?

He's nobody in particular.

I'm cautiously optimistic but even if it's amazing NBC will find some way to fuck it up.

At the very least the live threads will be fun with you faggots

>fan service: the show, starring Alan Tudyk

I'm on this like flies on shit.

He draws futa on shota porn?

Whose nudes are they gonna be?

This is another reason I'm excited, I'm a sucker for live action costumes and this show looks like it's gonna be packed with heroes who we've never seen in live action before.

It's like a proving ground for DC's other movies and shows.

Yeah I'm not sure about the exact synopsis for Damage Control, but "comedy that has normies dealing with the damage heroes do" seems to be as close as it gets.
It's both an uninspired move by NBC/DC to steal the idea and a blunder from Marvel to have taken so much time to make it happen while disclosing basically the premise.

So one of the girls has Aquaman beefcake plastered all over her walls.
But which Aquaman will it be?

Being a fan of one thing doesn't mean you have to exclusively watch that one thing you fucking sheep

Fillion has at least a cameo in GotG 2 as Wonder Man, so not right now.

Supergirl

Why does you being gay prevent you from watching a television show?

>he shows up as a normal dude
>everyone suspects he's a superhero and that's just his secret identity
>he's just a normal dude

EMILY LOCKE (Vanessa Hudgens)

>Emily is an kind-hearted, but jaded insurance claims adjuster for RetCon Insurance, who finds herself increasingly exasperated by the disruptive antics of the various superheroes that proliferate in her city, and is unexpectedly thrusted into the role of a "people's champion" by openly challenging resident superheroine Crimson Fox in regards to the property damaged caused by her activities.

Both of them.

Jesus, could you imagine?

Ha. References.

TEDDY (Danni Pudi)
>Emily's best friend and co-worker, Teddy spends his days creating time-wasting pranks as a way to make their office, the "least Super place on earth", just a little less monotone. He secretly harbors feelings for Emily.

DEL (Alan Tuddyk)
>Emily's clumsy, immature, dictatorial new boss, who has just been promoted — not through any merit of his own, but because he’s the owner’s son.

JACKIE (Christine Palmer)
>Del's assistant and Emily's friend who is obsessed with superheroes.

CRIMSON FOX (Ana Mitchell)
>The mighty protector of Charm City, headquarters of RetCon Insurance.

>It's not part of DCEU
Dropped

>RetCon Insurance
Heh.

>Teddy

Will it be canon to the Arrowverse or DCEU?

If not, there's literally no point. A comedy about nobodies in a comic book world without taking place in an established canon is stupid. Gotham works well alone because it IS the canon.

>He secretly harbors feelings for Emily
Yes! Relationship drama

>Gotham works well
>because it IS the canon.
What the fuck are you talking about?

But....Marvel's already making a Damage Control show.

Uh oh...

>Drops Constantine
>Picks this shit up

It films in Vancouver, so it wouldn't be impossible to have Arrowverse heroes to show up.

Gotham isn't some fucking side show. It's a show that would spinoff or crossover elsewhere if it wanted to. This trash having the audacity to be standalone for no reason is stupid. NBC ruining capeshows since 2015.

>modern day prime-time broadcast television
>not expecting relationship drama

>he likes only one
>for free

>weak person stands up to super strong person and develops a cult following
Eh, maybe

It's going to be hilarious when this shit flops

Hopefully fast so Marvel can come back in and do the thing. At least Damage Control will be in the MCU.

>Danny Pudi
>Vanessa Hudgens
That's a surreal combination. What's an A-lister doing with a D-lister?

..Vanessa Hudgens is till an A-lister, right?

>Damage Control has been referenced since Iron Man
It's time

Because it's inline with what the network is used to. You should know how this works by now.

>B-but Grimm!
Is more of a soap opera with fantasy overtones by now.

i almost feel bad. i really do. i think these people do try.

Gotham is very much its own thing and it's better because of it. The farther it stays away from the Arrowverse the better.

Same goes for this show. Not being part of that canon is the best thing for it and any other future show. It not being an Arrow tie-in is part of why I'll give it a shot.

The point of entertainment is to entertain, not to fluff the lore of other entertainment products.

At least it's not being written by David Goyer

I know

Constantine had bad ratings.

Not in my heart

>NBC comedy
either it will die in one season, or survive based on fan love despite low ratings.

but it all is because of multiverse

>52nd IP
IT'S HAPPENING

>either it will die in one season, or survive based on fan love despite low ratings.

You'd think so, but Superstore actually had great ratings (certainly by NBC's standards) and got renewed pretty easily.

I think this actually might have a shot of surviving for 2 seasons.

he's right, though. Gotham takes great pains to fit with comics lore.

>tfw we'll never get that destined movie after Community's 6th season

It's going to die like Constantine did and I guarantee you Constantine is the better show out of both.

>liking reddit the show

or kill yourself.

NBC gave Danny Pudi another show?
That's baffling.

How outrageously French is she going to be on a scale of Un to Dix?

This is cute, and I'm glad she's getting some respectable work after what feels like 3 roles as some whore, but something doesn't add up. Why would someone who makes their business off the wanton destruction want it to stop? I can understand her acting that way for clients but if she's genuinely upset she's in the wrong line of work. She should go into law and get motherfuckers jailed.

She survived a Smilex attack a while back. Part of her tragic backstory.
