Is this a reference to an unreleased xxx marvel parody I don't know about?

The Tau vs Venom?

For those of you who aren't fa/tg/uys.

Somebody please find this artist's home and smash all of his computers. The guy's clearly a good painter, but he shits everything up with awful CG.

Fucker didn't even change color scheme.

/tg/ here.

We're having a ball waiting to see if GW and the Mouse go at it.

Hahaha, what the fuck?

This is super fucking blatant.

I don't understand why he undersized parts of them like the drones and the doors though, that doesn't make sense to me. Its not like it disguises what they are ripped off from in any notable way.

But it begs the question... can Symbiotes be brought to understand and serve The Greater Good?

They must surely understand the necessity of cooperating with other organisms...

New symbiotes are shit

How would you deal with Griffith, Annihilus, and friends all riding double ED-209's?

Who's the artist?

its so fucking blatent

it will be weird to actually be supporting games workshop in a copyright matter for once

I think there should be a complete moratorium on swiping tech designs. For fucks' sake, concept artists are hardworking people, and if you can't design your own tech, you shouldn't be making scifi comics in the first place.

Didn't something like this happen in Midnighter too? Like, in 12 Midnighter has "sonic pistol" that is totally just a Mass Effect gun.

It's not always bad... it was kind of fun to see Deadpool in the future in that one X-Force comic using dirtied-up but recognizable Halo guns.

Why would this gun need a magazine? It's clearly muzzle-loaded.

Uh... propellant canisters maybe?

Symbiotes would become new standard for Tau troops. All troops would be merged with symbiotes, allowing them to go toe-to-toe with spess marinns. Tau win.

I remember that Mickey Mouse comic where a villain had this army of bank robbing robots which were blatantly based on Kirby.

Isn't the triangle thing at the top propellant? I mean, that's how CO2 cartridges are mounted on some pneumatic weapons.

Look, I don't know what the fuck the gun is even supposed to do, so your guess is as good as mine.

Nah, Tau are still a shit babby empire that can't match any of the main races since they are so insignificant in scale.

Plus flamers everywhere, and symbiote tau are still only passable in melee

That's not Griffith and Annihilus, that's Deadlock and Blackblood of the ABC Warriors!

Tbh I could tell they weren't original without looking, they're too out of place. They look like they're not even traced from Poser, they look like it's an actual render. Like, lines on the hull have this characteristic blurry quality that I usually see on painterly textures in CG art.

My point is that if artist removed the magazine, people probably wouldn't even notice it's a bolter pistol (since mag is pretty iconic part of it).

I'm just saying, if you trace and copy, at least do it smart.

Those are some great names.

It would take the tau millenia to grow in size and strength enough to topple the Imperium, even assuming everybody isn't Tyranid food by then. Or orc food. Or Chaos food. Look, it's a hungry galaxy, is all I'm saying.

Don't you know? Symbiotes (actually, their name is Klyntar) are galactic benevolent peacekeeping organization.

Aren't symbiotes now just super duper benevolent green lantern knockoffs (which Marvel already had in the Nova Corps?) and it was also retconned that instead of Venom being the one symbiote who actually wanted to bond with its host instead of draining them dry and moving onto the next he's now the one bad apple that gave symbiotes a bad name.

If that's from current, shitty Guardians of the Galaxy, I'm gonna piss in your next cup of coffee. See if I don't. You'll forget all about this, but the next cup of coffee you drink, bam, "This tastes funny, wait, oh my god, holy shit, no!"

Other line-ups have included Mad Ronn, Hitaki, Morrigun, Zippo, Terr-1, Ro-Jaws and MEK QUAKE

something like that, yeah
The symbiotes just latch onto guys and then they get messages from THE COSMOS to go do good deeds.
And Venom is giving them a really, really bad name right now
I miss old tacticool venom. I miss when symbiotes where just space monster parasites. I miss when people didn't shout Klyntar every page.

Quick look at marvel wiki, Liz has only one supervillain steprother - Mark Raxton, Molten Man. His most recent appearance as a villain was in 581. Quick check online, and one, this issue was drawn by one Mike McKone, and two, apparently it's a futuristic needlegun to give deliver antidote to Molten Man. That ballista missile is apparently adamantium tipped tranq. Personally I don't see how anyone could survive getting shot with this shit. And there is absolutely zero ackonwledgement of how it works, other than "experimental delivery system", so we will never learn - to be honest probably only purpose of the top container is to have somewhere to write "Oscorp" on.

Also, it is something that Harry just lugged in his car for apparently weeks or months for this exact occasion, and noone in his family questioned that. Did it fit in the glovebox?

And three, climax of the issue includes Spidey saying "chillax" to Molten Man. At least it's acknowledged in-universe as cringy.

>I love how in this age I can find out exact context for a page in less than half an hour.

So basically it's a terribly inappropriate choice of a design to even steal on every level. A bad swipe on top of being a swipe in the first place.

Pic related. Also a goof, that's issue 582 because it's part 2 of a story arc.

Also, this issue had a filler artist for exactly one page, so probably something happened and Mike McKone couldn't keep up with deadlines, so stealing bolter design was most likely a crutch to make things faster.

Actually now that I look at this illustration, I am 100% certain he just stole someone else's model of a bolter and added some shit to it in 3D studio, and called the render "pencils". I mean, fucking look at it. If he hand-traced it, it would looks at least SOMEWHAT organic.

You don't, you're fucked.

I was right. Reposted from /tg/ thread:
Clearly a render just pasted onto the page.

>still has the fucking tau logo

Also:

the vast majority of symbiotes who venture into space go evil because they have zero tolerance for mental contamination. they accumulate the hate rage and crazy of their hosts, and pass it all on to their offspring.

Venom was a sort of genetic throwback that failed to inherit anything from its ancestors, and since all his relatives had zero time for someone that wasn't as evil as they were, he got locked up.

then Peter finds him, and Venom gets contaminated by Peter's rage and frustration, and particularly the anger Peter felt towards it in that final struggle at the bell tower.

Then it finds Eddie, and gets more anger from him, as well as his victim complex and psychosis. they end up in a feedback loop where Venom is making Eddie crazier and Eddie is making Venom crazier. to the point of craving brains and chocolate.

then they split up, it goes to Angelo, who gets rejected in a matter of hours, and it seeks out Mac Gargan. Mac gets hit with the cumulative psychosis of Peter and Eddie all at once, and then a psychic attack drives Mac completely insane. which makes Venom even worse.

cue more shenanigans and cannibalism, the symbiote gets snatched from Mac, pumped full of enough tranquilizers and suppressants that its too busy tripping balls to think straight. It does manage to influence Flash enough that he goes AWOL.

Since Flash is a recovered alchoholic, that rubs off on the symbiote and it manages to get over its brains addiction. now that its no longer doped up 24/7 they manage to forge a true partnership.

Later, in some corner of space, they run into a symbiote colony that has remained pure. its able to flush out all of the bad stuff the symbiote inherited from its hosts over the years returning it to the stable state it was in when Peter first found it. The colony sends Venom on missions to help bring peace to that corner of the galaxy.

Then in a mission, the symbiote spends time bonded to an alien warlord. This causes it to 'fall off the wagon' so to speak, and start craving bad vibes. The colony senses this, and sends out an agent. It turns out the colony has only remained pure for so long thanks to a strict 'one second chance' policy. Every symbiote that blows that second chance gets executed, and they offer to provide Flash with a new, better symbiote. Flash says fuck that, this is my partner, but the symbiote is so pissed off it steals Flash's ship and escapes.

this is the current continuity of the Venom symbiote. the bottom line being that the majority of symbiotes are still evil, and the Klyntar colony ones are actually dicks

Why is that tank completely hollow?

Please never write anything again.

... I'm pretty sure that is recap of what actually happened, user.

That's the fun with CG models! Basically, all models are actually empty on the inside. Without textures, they wouldn't be just transparent - they would be see-through. If there is a missing texture in a model, insides are completely invisible through it, and you can see through the "hole" even if it is technically "covered" from the other side. Basically, all models are invisible from the inside.

So almost certainly, the hatch was probably a separate model (since /tg/ says those are stolen Dawn of War game assets, probably because hatch is either animated or something) and it wasn't included in that Poser model pack that the artist used.

Because when the "artist" scaled up the tank model he didn't scale up the door or guns too so you're seeing inside the model.

OHH! You're correct, that tiny thing with the Tau logo is the hatch in the wrong size! Duh!
So yeah, what I said and what this guy said

Correct. The hatch comes off when the unit is destroyed IIRC, but you don't get much besides.

>yfw when Tau got completely purged by symbiotes
>yfw when even Marvel view them as incompetent tiny '''''''empire'''''''

...

I wonder what would happen if the symbiote genetic structure got absorbed into the Tyranid Hive Mind? Tyranids already exhibit ludicrous amounts of symbiotic relationships, and they can do some of the spontaneous mutation thing Marvel ones can do.

I refuse to acknowledge this shitty retcon

>MEK QUAKE
BIG JOBS!

better camoflague and ability to infect others. not much else

That's more easter egg/reference than plagiarism

Hmm, maybe but I really think this goes beyond the usual fair usage situations of homage/references.
If GW really wanted to (and they are famously litigious) they could make a real stink

But user, you can't plagiarize from persons who aren't US companies.

When does it become plagiarism?

I could give that reason for the bolt pistol in the Spidey comic, but that's because they added all kinds of gizmos and useless bits to it.

The Venom one is a one for one copy/paste.

this goes far beyond an homage user

You're a retarded if you think the OP comic is an 'easter egg', its literally a model taken and used instead of actual art, but the hack couldn't even do that right so bits like the doors are undersized the armoured units appear hollow.

This is like Land tracing from porn but even dumber.

This would be like Land literally just using photos of porn instead of tracing over it.

>Plagiarism general.

god I love 2000AD

That looks more like an in-joke than downright plagarism, the angle is different and it has a ton of other shit added on to it.

He just shoved the fucker on top because drawing all the mechanical shit on the middle would have been hard. The guns or whatever they are are even clipping though the helicopter.

>the angle is different
Deodato is one of those "artists" who use poser and other 3d modeling software and then just paste the renders into the comic. Given that you can see the clipping (look at the gun barrels) I highly HIGHLY doubt that he actually modeled the speeder himself: looks like he just imported it from somewhere like Turbosquid:

turbosquid.com/Search/Index.cfm?keyword=lego snow speeder

Is this a video game or did someone actually make an official comic with 3D models?

if it's used consistentyl is plagiarism, if it was used only in this shot but then shows other veichles that are the actual army vehicles, then is an easter egg

I can't believe you're this stupid.

The background reminds me of the 3D Ironman comic.

It's from the current Venom run

Is that Venom 3d too?

He sure looks like it.

>Google image Mike Deodato
I'm getting a gay porn feel...

Plagiarism is when you use the work of another human as your own. To avoid plagiarism in a paper for instance you should clearly mark a quote from another human in your work and give the original source for it.

so yes that is plagiarism

...

That's an Eldar Falcon Grav Tank without the top turret and an engine on the troop hold, for anyone playing along at home. It's also in Dawn of War, just like the Tau tank.

Fucking good catch user!
