Why are most esteemed actors of our gen disproportionately male?

It seems like the majority of the top performances of the last 17 years were made by male actors.

Is Hollywood becoming more male centric?

Older people are better at their jobs but older females are not pretty enough for movies and TV.

Women are already putting on an act 24/7 so only males can truly act differently than they do in reality

Women rarely get serious main roles in Hollywood or any English based films. I wonder when we will have a female version of No Country for old Men. Hollywood is quite sexist I think

Once women start writing roles that are about more than being a woman, then we'll have good female actors.

That doesn't make sense

Name an outstanding performance by any woman ever in the history of film

...

Jodie Foster and Natalie Portman have had some good ones but I know what you mean, Meryl Streep for example has zero fucking range whatsoever but she's heralded as amazing.

Michelle Williams is slaying right now.

...

That's not even true.

>Julia Roberts beat that performance for the oscar
what a joke

Females make shit protagonists ergo there are fewer female lead rolls ergo fewer actresses gain noteworthy careers.

...

Not only male, but either British, Scottish, Irish, or Australian. American males have disappeared.

Camera visibly shook because the camera man was crying...

Men are at the top of every field, get over it.

Not hard

NO! Men are inferior and are all rapists!

Any woman in a Robert Altman movie

n-no

This, and im not saying men are superior, its just that for some reason, men have this capability of becoming so fucking obsessed with something that they get godlike at it.

>rapists
Kek. I think you mean
>rapees

I want to say Jodie Foster in Silence of the Lambs the I remember she got outplayed by Hopkins

There's not enough societal pressure on women that would drive them to create artistic marvels. Compound that with the fact that nobody hires female writers or directors (for reasons other than nepotism or PR) and you have a severe lack of female artists.

I really think that women could write, direct, and act as well as any of the male greats in history, but women are in a position where they're treated like children by both conservatives and feminists. Since that's the case, there likely won't be any change for a very very very long time.

Acting can only be as good as the role being played.

Not enough well written female roles

She's such a qt as well and I remember hating her when she was on Dawson's Creek

Never, it's unbelievable.

men are better than women at everything

The problem is that they only want 9+/10 actresses. This highly limits the pool and reduces the amount that can actually act well. There is a similar problem for American actors. The UK / Ireland / Australia seem to still care more about acting talent. If you are 6-7/10 and can act, they will hire you a nutritionist and a personal trainer.

All of the good American actors are Character Actor because they are not considered attractive enough. Steve Buscemi is as good of an actor as anyone on the planet. Ugly as hell though.

What film is this?

Dude nobody thought he was that great of an actor. He only got hyped when he died during filming of TDK. He's so fucking overrated and a drug addicted degenerate.

Women are too self-absorbed to become someone else.

This

He didn't die during filming.
He died way after filming.
He died during the production.

Water is wet

You act like Brokeback Mountain never existed.

Women to have the same pressure as men have, women donĀ“t need to be good at acting to become big stars and earn lots of money, they just need to be hot.

See: Jennifer Lawrence.

his Joker is easily one of the most memorable villains of this century. Easily on par with Hopkin's Hannibal.

Brokeback Mountain is one of the worst movies ever made and it's only faggots like it.

LOL no. All of nolan's batman films are shit. Also James Hardy's Bane was x10 better.

There it is, the bait for the bait sprung.

Requiem for a Dream
not a happy movie

I'll agree with the first statement, but the second one is just retarded. Anthony Hopkin's portrayal of Hannibal Lecter is one for the ages. Also, hat tip to Captain Stottlemeyer for his work as Buffalo Bill.

Hopkins was goofy as fuck though, grandstanding on par with DDL on There Will Be Blood. When will you guys stop being impressed by scenery chewing bullshit in serious, realistic films? You might as well have Jim Carrey doing his comedy bits in No Country For Old Men.

Not really. No warm blooded male will ever watch Brokefag mountain.

Women want optimal offsping, men need to deliver.
->They get good at something.

t. nature

Sharon Stone in Casino
So authentic and infuriatingly believable psycho bitch with daddy issues inb4 she was just playing herself

...

What about Ballet dancing though?

Why are the British so over represented in the arts?

Also this. A lot of European film scenes like French film don't have this problem

Because of the Empire.

I had no idea exploiting third worlders for monetary gain would increase a nations artistic talent pool

Why are you so obsessed with this shit? Go flaunt your inferiority complex elsewhere, cuck.

Claire Foy is beautiful and amazing in both The Crown and Wolf's Hall. Absolutely KINO, imagine if the actress who plays Cersei didn't think she was in a disney cartoon.

But whenever she shares a scene with Damien Lewis or John Lithgow she is hopelessly outclassed......

Because the British don't give roles to girls just for being pretty or developing early....

They take the time to find attractive girls who can actually act.....like hollywood used to do.....

The problem in the US is that the hubs for the best acting education are in New York, but the best place to find acting work is in LA. So you can either go and get the best education while possibly never getting discovered, or you can go to LA and try and get your foot in the door without really being good enough to excel even if you do.

The UK doesn't have that problem. Everything is centred around London and anything that isn't is only a train ride away. Young actors can a great education, work week to week on the stage, and still be located well enough to audition for the odd TV or movie role too.

>Men are even better at being women than women

What privileges do men have again?
