Terrible character designers

...

The first two can work if the character is supposed to look obnoxiously colorful, but you need a very grounded cast to contrast it.

While the artist lacks the skill to understand things like proportionality and consistency, the basic design of this werewolf CAN work.

Too bad every other design she makes is shit and she doesn't even use the damn werewolf.

She should've cashed in with Jiji instead but she got hung up over her not being a porn OC any more.
That said, I'd still hit it.

I won't deny that most people would read for the fapbait, but werewolf-chan could easily support her own comic...and would honestly be a huge improvement over the comic she currently puts out.

You've got a character that's at least mildly aesthetically pleasing as the protagonist and werewolves and college life is a good juxtaposition that allows for fun, creative scenarios. The story would end up actually being focused if it only had a single, central protagonist and even though she would totally botch the concept the character art would at least end up more consistent since she'd be unable to constantly abandon major characters for months at a time.

I can't think of another situation where pandering to furries would actually make a story better, this shit is fascinating.

Well it's furry shit, and all furry shit is terrible.

She plastered Jiji all over her Patreon to draw interest after her K$sha animation and she hasn't appeared yet and probably won't for a long time. What she has now is a comic with too many characters that get too little time to themselves and thus nobody ends up caring about them. You're probably right that just winding in her desire to show everyone everything else first before getting to what most of them came to see is her best bet for keeping the comic afloat.

OP's sister.

>She plastered Jiji all over her Patreon
Holy shit, you're not kidding. That's a bit much.
I'd say maybe she's held off on it since it wasn't originally "her" character, but seeing that makes me think she's keeping it as a trump card in case she ever stops raking in cash.

But even beyond what you said, this dumb sparkledog has more going for it than her other characters anyway just by virtue of being a semi-human character. Shit, she makes for a better fit for the comic's whole shtick than the not-so-protagonist.

Kinda sucks that she makes more than I do just by drawing thoughtlessly. Wonder if she'd try to sue me if I lifted the character concept and made my own comic.

My main problem with her art in general is that a lot of the stuff she designs isn't complemented by her art style at all.
Most of her characters are a chore to look at because her art style is extremely awkward, and her abuse of the bright pink/peachy yellow color pallette is tiring as fuck.

Maybe it'd be bearable if the characters had limbs that weren't toothpicks?

I don't see how Jojo would fit any better.

eleven feet tall

Head-sized breasts.

Rebecca Sugar

Her right leg doesn't make sence here. It's completely straight?

i think it's weird because it's clearly a plantigrade leg while the other is digitigrade

Only good thing to come out of all of this.

Trying to look at these designs hurts my eyes.

Too much is going on. It's like she threw shit at a wall, and let everything stick.

They're the same, it's just extended forward more than normal, which looks weird for that foot type.

It's supposed to be like a dog's leg right? But it is straight and arched instead or bent. That's a human leg rather than a caninine's back leg.

She looks like a T. rex

>giant
>werewolf

Those are both good. And my fetishes. But being a sparkle dog is a bit of a turn off.

No, the clothed leg is humanoid for some reason.

The blue fur/hair + red overalls design is alright. Nothing too harsh on the eyes and a reasonably limited palette.

>not 11ft tall
why even bother

1st dog is ok get rid of the exess colors in her hair. Change the color of the dress so it doesn't blend with the stocking or whatever. Less shit in her ears. Heart is unnecessary so is the feather.
Second verse same as the first except the hair is fine here.
Third just needs to stop existing.
Last is just the ear.
The first dog looks the best out of these changes.

Ironically, some kind of weird giantess process fanart that pops up really fast on google image search simplified the character to non-sparkledog levels and into just dumb furshit.

Terrible character designs are the furry "meta," so to speak. Tons of piercings, hipster haircuts, overloaded and painful color pallets, all that jazz. Usually it's best just to stick with established characters from cartoons or video games than to delve into original characters.

You're like 7 years late to realizing this.

This thread's gonna die soon anyway, Zoophobia is such a fucking vapid comic that there's nothing to say about it except "I want to FUCK that werewolf!"

sadly, this
I do want to be that werewolf's little spoon, though

That werewolf doesn't even exist in her own continuity, user. She's just a Ke$ha stand-in in a bad music video, like those lame Scooby Doo rejects from the Mystery Skulls videos.

>You're like 7 years late to realizing this
Posting furries were a bannable offense only a few years ago. People were getting banned for posting the Pandawa and Ecaflip from Wakfu.
I'm surprised Zootopia threads are even allowed, but it shows you how much shit changed after mootykins prepped the bull.

Funny, Sup Forums has the highest concentration of gay scalies on Sup Forums and have "furry" threads all the time.
It's really only the mods and small handful of anons that actually hate furry stuff now. Most of the site is neutral or likes some furry stuff. I agree the fandom idiots are trash, but that's not going to stop me from liking the porn/concept.

it literally only depends on how pissy the currently active mod is feeling
I've seen discussion threads about a show on hiatus get deleted while a TMNT porn thread was up on the first page, and this was at least 5 years ago.

You're either new or don't hang around Sup Forums a lot.
We spawned the horsefucker board, remember?

And Sup Forums spawned /vp/ and /vg/. They don't have room to talk.

Please more semen demon, less discussion.

Oh yeah, I remember this shit. I drew this garbage for one of these threads ages back.

...Shit, I was a terrible artist back then.

show your improvement so I can feel good/bad about myself

I'm so glad moot is gone.

She's going to need significantly thicker hip and leg bones if that's the case. Either that, or her legs are going to snap into a splintered red mess the first time she hops.

MORRRRRRE

maybe she's made of pym particles

Her ass is already pretty fat.

That actually makes me wonder something, if furries are fucking everywhere why don't they just make a furry board and isolate them?

Wait, like, of this character or in general?

because an old meme the mods can't let go

because where the fuck do you stop with something like that? suddenly no videogames with animal characters in, no cartoon discussion with animals in, nothing with anything vaguely talking animal related allowed in its most relevent board?

if it's just the porn, then /trash/ exists for that

This
Furry hate is a meme from Something Awful. In the early days of the internet most furries were kids, like Tumblr is today. They were obnoxious and cliquish, and pissed people off.

Then they grew up like we all did. There are autists, of course, but there are in any group. The problem is that there are tons of people today who still hold onto 90s/2000s SA memes as gospel, and freak out if they see an animal.

That's why, on Sup Forums or Sup Forums and the like, posting animal characters can get you banned- if a mod remembers that SA meme, they try to tell people posting characters from a show to "YIFF IN HELL FURFAG XD." It's embarrassing.

Also note that there were people who insisted that a furry board would result in Sup Forums being raided by furries, when they already posted in Sup Forums. Now they post in /trash/, which happens to be the comfiest board on the site. Yet there's still no mass raid of furry drama.

The anti-furry rule is outdated as fuck, and completely pointless.

Well, in either case, have two quick sketches and something I drew elsewhere on Sup Forums last week.

I think these two sketches serve as a fair comparison for how little I've grown over the past five months, but at least neither of them took over two hours like that piece of shit did.

/trash/ is basically /fur/.

That's pretty shit, m8.

I still don't understand what is so wrong with having an actual /fur/ now that we have a de facto one

Because then anyone who discusses anything with an animal in it in any media will be shitposted to death.

i want to fuck kayla the kangaroo

>tfw not australian

I do, although I want the 'no furry' rule bludgeoned to death.

Actual furry boards are cancer, they encourage discussion of fandom drama and circlejerking egotist artists and commission whores. [I say this as a masochist who lurks them, although I don't use sites like FA where usernames are involved]

The furry fandom is a cesspit of hell, even if individual furries are fine and there's nothing inherently wrong with some furshit.

You do not want the furry version of e-celeb discussions or constant arguments over the morality of yiff.party. /trash/ gives you everything good about a furry board [lots of porn] and Sup Forums or Sup Forums should give you everything else [Sabrina, Katia, that one game that was popular a while ago.]. /fur/ would just be a mess. [while also allowing mods on Sup Forums an excuse to shove-off any comic thread with animal characters because 'it belongs on fur u guise.'

>DO I LOOK LIKE I KNOW WHAT A JPG IS

I gotchu family

Very much agree with this

So... Which of her character designs are the least shitty ones? My money is on Angel, I think he's fun to look at and nothing extravagant goes on in his design or color scheme. I'm actually looking forward to what Viv does with him in Hazbin Hotel, hopefully it can't be worse than Zoophobia.

Possum girl in

this guy gets it. I don't mind her art style and I kind of like it, but I don't get what's up with all the homosexual characters in zoophobia?

>but I don't get what's up with all the homosexual characters in zoophobia?

Look at the art style. Are you really that surprised?

You can pick out which comics have high concentrations of gay characters usually just by the character designs and colors used.

This comic looks like an LGBT parade exploded on a computer screen.

I like pan but his comic is hard to look at.

Furshit is like bizarro land, the majority are bisexual, followed by hard gay/les, then straights are a tiny minority.

Prepped the bull...
Go back to Sup Forums senpai

Pandering to her Tumblr audience and probably herself. It's like a must nowadays, iirc Michelle of ava's Demon went on a hiatus for some time because she received several death/doxxing threats from Tumblr users if she didn't confirm X character was Y sexuality/gender.

>...
>typing a quote manually
>not even greentexting
This is what a newfag looks like.

To be fair, this is from his older, shittier art, it's approved a lot over the years. With that said, I think he still has room for improvement, he has character designs down now he just needs to work on backgrounds.

Furry artists try to make up for poor foundations and design by slapping on as many colors and useless details as they can to camouflage the problem

>Michelle of ava's Demon went on a hiatus for some time because she received several death/doxxing threats from Tumblr users if she didn't confirm X character was Y sexuality/gender.

Wait what, what happened?

When artists have very exaggerated styles, you have to step back and ask if they do that exaggeration because they like to, or because they are insecure when drawing more realistic proportions and anatomy. Often it becomes obvious with artists like the one you posted that they're exaggerating things to try to hide that they have a shoddy understanding of anatomy. They try to push it far enough that they can use the "it's my style" defense, but anyone with a bit of experience with art can tell from the way they handle it that they don't have that core background in fundamentals. An artist with technical skill that is merely choosing to exaggerate vs one with no technical skills doing it out of no other options have a very different look.

A character made a joke/insult about another character being a virgin, which was interpreted by tumblr to be offensive to asexuals.

It's not so much that they can't draw it's just that after a certain level all furries look basically the same so they jazz up their sparkledogs so that they look as Original as the most creative OCs on DA

Well they all look like samey shit regardless, so they're not even succeeding on that point. When everyone is trying to stand out, no one stands out.

Explain

I'm glad we can see eye to eye on this

Its still progress
Keep working at it, some of our most illustrious drawfags started out exactly where you are. 'Draw thread general' is your friend.

and then you'll git gud one day, leave Sup Forums, and start a patreon. Just like all the others.

Personally I think the issue is that so many artists strive for the same proportions which leads to the sameyness.

Sameness isn't really a problem in itself. Like human characters are going to look somewhat the same because humans in real life look somewhat the same. I'd rather have multiple characters that are realistic skin and hair colors than off the wall garbage trying to be unique by giving them retarded features, or clothing/hair that doesn't fit the setting. No one is going to complain that a character looks normal if their setting is normal. Furries are obsessed with standing out so they make their characters look like fucking spergs.

Actually to add to my point, I think it could be summarized like this: characters don't have to be unique, but they should look distinct. IE: in your story, they should not look like a background character. But they don't have to be the only character in the universe with x y z characteristics. Subtly standing out will always be better than the stuff most OCs pull.

>started out
Whoof, harsh man. I've been at this for a while.

Although, maybe I shouldn't be a little bitch and take offense when I offered up quick sketches as examples.

any lewds?

2nd one is nice

Agreed.

>10' tall as a werewolf
>Any of those clothes surviving
>Pretty much unable to reproduce unless your offspring shift back and forth with you, as you'd Holly them.
>Not being a horrifically painful experience every single time your entire anatomy gets a restructuring.

All that said, I wish I had the artistic ability to make the webcomic of my dreams, so I envy her on that.

>most furries were kids
Furries pre-date the internet by decades and the ones who were posting on it back in the day were in their 20's. Sure there were some kids too but the internet in the 90's was full of college aged people and furries were the same age demographics as everyone else.

People hated them because they generated dumb bullshit drama wherever they went and as far as I can tell that hasn't changed.

>Sup Forums
try reading through a dust thread

Body horror is one of the coolest parts about werewolves.

The only difference is furries are slowly becoming popular
There's a bunch of furry grills on Instagram becoming furfags

And then you have "zootopiasonas" exploding on tumblr. And no, they are not different from fursoans other than that they're set in the zootopia world. Disney made making a fursona popular.
