The reason she was so keen to take in refugees in because Germany has a severe demographic crisis. At this rate. Germany will have lost something like 15% of its population by 2050, and the remaining people will be mostly old retirees, putting immense stress on social security. Ultimately, some amount of cultural clash is acceptable if its necessary to ensure the continued existence of social-democracy and the welfare state. Germany is still very far from reaching RAF levels of terrorism in the 70s and 80s.
