So many people believe this is the greatest remake ever...

so many people believe this is the greatest remake ever, they think it's on the same level with the original and some people even think it was better. Wow, literally how?

Who praises it? I've heard people call it all right, but I never see anyone claim it's better than the original.

I was okay with the fact that they expanded on the family's situation that was addressed in the 1974 script but excised from the filmed version, yet they fucked up Leatherface himself. It seemed so wrong to have him sneak around and search for Biel.

Friday the 13th is the true GOAT 2000s horror remake. Halloween 2 is pretty awesome, but barring the opening, it's a remake in name only.

Wrong, Dawn of the Dead is best remake

Snyder's Dawn of the Dead didn't blow the original film out of the water like the F13 remake did. While the bar is considerably higher for Dawn of the Dead, I think that should count for something. It was a decent zombie flick, but being a remake didn't really serve it -- it could've been called anything, while F13 used its slasher template to its advantage.

I don't understand why people think the original is good. Maybe it was ballsy/gritty at the time, but I don't know what's so special about it nowadays.

>Who praises it? I've heard people call it all right, but I never see anyone claim it's better than the original.
/r/horror, people's youtube comments on the remake's videos, people's comments on every review of this film ANYWHERE. believe me it has many fans and they love it so much. they think "it's scarier", "darker and more gory and gritty", "leatherface was scarier, original leatheface looked like an idiot", "it had a great atmosphere", "the protagonist was better than the original's she actually cut leatherface's arm" etc etc etc

Literally nobody says or thinks this

You have retardation user sorry

Best TCM coming through

Those people are idiots. The 74 film was made for under a million, pioneered a form of horror and introduced a new level of grotesque for horror films. The remake is big-budget popcorn entertainment that's occasionally effective. It's difficult to compare the two, but I'd say the original bests the remake on being both original and more influential.

I wish more fans of the original liked this. Seems like it still gets shit, even from "real horror films". I think it definitely gives the original a run for its money and deserves to be in the conversation for best sequel ever made.

It's like the comedy Hooper wanted to make back in 74, yet it's somehow darker than the original. Great stuff.

I meant "real horror fans" btw

some god tier shit

A few months ago I watched it with a room of loud college students who laughed at random moments for the first 20 or so minutes. But when Leatherface first appeared, you could've heard a pin drop in the room. Marilyn Burns's constant screams in the last part of the film made people noticeably uncomfortable. Calling something "good....for its time" is a total copout to pretend you understand a film you really don't...and it's not even true, in many cases.

god that scene is uncomfortable. Hooper is a good director, but somehow any time he made a TCM movie, he kicked things to another level.

I hate the ending so much though.

And when you're competing with Godfather Part 2 and Empire Strikes Back and Temple of Doom and Air Bud 2: Golden Reciever well you're just not going to make the list of best sequels.

I'd argue TCM2 is actually a better film than any of the ones you mentioned (maybe not Air Bud, but still), but I understand why many would disagree.

Who's hyped for the new Teenage Leatherface movie this October?

Lick my plate, ya dog dick

Best sequel ever made is Crank 2 tho

wut

>Friday the 13th
>Dawn of the Dead
>Halloween
Holy fuck, have you people lost your mind? Dawn of the Dead probably gets my vote for the absolute worst remake.

I'm weirdly kind of excited for another big franchise horror film, as we haven't really gotten one since the last TCM film in 2013 (which I missed in theaters). It's probably gonna suck, but if anything, I know it'll have some good old fashioned killing instead of just paranormal bullshit.

Fuck you,

Rob Zombie is an acquired taste. I was lukewarm on it until I gave the director's cut a couple watches. It's not perfect, but it is pretty damn special. The fact that something this oppressive and relentlessly grim got made by a big studio is amazing.

And I liked Friday the 13th for the exact reason that so many didn't, that it sorta pisses on the whole "horror purist" thing by taking a classic and making the most loud and fun version of it, while at the same time staying true to the series' original intentions...they've always been teen movies. I understand the hate for it, I just think it's wrong.

Watch 31

Zombie is a fucking hack

...

Now I'm hyped

I don't think it was better than the original one but I did like it.

Good argument. I saw it; it was probably his worst film, but there were still many good things about it.

fake.

this. the first appearance of leatherface is easily one of if not the most disturbing horror movie scene of all time. you have to watch everything leading up to it though, not just a youtube clip.

As decent as this sounds like it has the potential to be, am I the only person who's sick to fucking death of origin stories?

I've seen the film countless times and I still hold my breath during that part. And the forest chase scene with Leatherface still genuinely terrifies me a little. Hooper is the devil.

What did he mean by this?

Michael's origin story was goat.

Meh ... You hafta check both a remake & an original of "I Spit On Your Grave". That is what I call the remake doing a lot better than the original on its every level. Of all titles of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", The one by Tobe Hooper is still the best effort there is.

Are you talking about the one by Rob Zombie???

Yeah, as much as the trailer looks cool, the thoughts coming on to me that this is going to be an another turture porn piece. I want Damn good story that have those turture shine even greater.

Yeah, I kind of am.

Yeah, the trailer looks cool, if only it was the real Leatherface trailer. It's actually "Escape from Cannibal Farm", just a little TCM ripoff.

Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, chopping up bodies baby

WTF !!!!

Right on, user!!!

The Hills Have Eyes is the best horror remake imo.

Fuck's sake people.
It's good as far as REMAKES go; it shouldn't be taken too serious.

Dennis Hopper is great in this.

Love TCM2.

He looks like the Joker.

This last Halloween I had it playing when my buddy came home with his girl. She was all 'eww why are we watching this' 'this isn't scary' and laughing until about the same part. Then it was head down on her phone all night literally too scared to look at the screen. Shut up real good.

This, Hills Have eyes and Hostel are really the only 2000s horror movies I like. I enjoy this remake alot, especially because of R Lee Ermy

first Wrong Turn was pretty good imo.
