In this ITT thread: post director's cuts that were worse than the original releases. Apocalypse Now Redux is the first movie that springs to mind. The extra scenes added nothing to the movie and ruined its pacing.

The director's cut of Alien 3 is actually worse than the theatrical release because of the stupid CGI Ripley ending and the alien being birthed from an ox rather than the dog.

Why they went with the shitty effects I will never know

>Apocalypse Now Redux is the first movie that springs to mind. The extra scenes added nothing to the movie and ruined its pacing.

oh my lord you're the biggest pleb of all time

If you prefer original cut over redux then you belong to reddit.

>pacing

>Not appreciating how redux carried stronger echos of the pacing and narrative's from Heart of Darkness.
>Not understanding that this fucking of the pacing adds to the reader / viewers exhaustion.
>Not understanding that you are supposed to find those sections of the journey tedious, repulsive, superfluous or intriguing.
>Not understanding that each adds its own layer to the characters in respective ways.
>Wanting your journey into the depths of insanity, barbarism and existential realization of your capacity for violence towards other beings to be a snappy paced flick.

original is just a flick that shows small themes about the descent into madness so that a video game playing child could enjoy it and forget about it later.

redux is cinema. It's pure art. This film doesn't hand hold the observer and repeat "war is bad mkay?". It takes a fucking hammer and smashes it into your skull and basically throws you into the hell which will make you have the full experience of what it means to be mad. It is true pain. It is true suffering and it is pure unadulterated art.

a load pseud drivel tbqh

Your reasoning for Redux's superiority can just as easily be used to argue for the original cut. The Redux takes you out of the journey and interrupts the slow descent into insanity of the original by throwing in the over-indulgent Playboy bunny scene and the bluntly political French plantation scene.

The original wasn't snappily paced, it was perfectly paced. Your argument of the added scenes "increasing the verisimilitude of the dark journey by exhausting you lmao" is a poor justification for the addition of completely superfluous scenes.

I have noticed that the Redux is mostly praised during American hours and mostly hated during European hours

The French plantation scene is probably too "on the nose" for European sensibilities.

Avoid this version at all cost.

nah, it's just shit.

The Two Towers and Return of the King have bad extended editions. It was just more Peter Hackson ignoring the books and making stupid changes.

You clearly did not understand the movie if you think the extra scenes add nothing.

The plantation scene is a huge pleb filter. It is true authenticity that will go over the heads of thousands of Sup Forumsedditors.
Cinema is a slaughter house. This is a medium of suffering in the name of authenticity. This isn't 'fun times "fauxkino buff" clubhouse'.

Are you being ironically pretentious or are you for real?

i guess he is pretentious but thinks it's real

>The Lord of the rings theatrical cut is the directors cut, Jackson thought the extended stuff was to long.

>let's just get these out of the way.

...

why did nobody tried to prevent this
