What are some good Pocky-Lips stories?

I haven't read it myself but Age of Apocalypse is considered one of the best (if not THE best) X-men stories of the 90s.

His first arc in X-Factor was great.
The problem comes from when this super competent big-bad villain get defeated three or four times.
Wolverine: The Jungle Adventure is the best use of Apocalypse and it even has a good reason as to why he is able to be defeated so "easily".

So good. Some one needs to storytime this.

>His first arc in X-Factor was great.
Blue edgy razor winged Angel should have become the character's default status quo the way blue furry Beast became that respective character's

It was for a long time, and I think still is? I saw some pages from 1-2 years ago with Archangel in them.

It was. Archangel was the default for several years until it got undone in Onslaught and then he used it when he was part of the (newish) X-Force

This and Remender's Uncanny X-Force.

Mike Mignola should do more art for cape comics.

>Mike Mignola should do more art for cape comics.

Why? He already escaped that hell, decades ago.

Status QUO

He stayed that way for ten years. That's a hell of a long time for a complete character overhaul to stick.
And he STILL is that way he can just change his look.

I think what PHG is saying is that it's status quo to the point that people just think of him as that version, like regardless of whether he's an ape-thing or a cat odds are you think of Beast as a blue furry animal, whereas most people think of Angel as this blonde model with wings.

He should never not have sick razor metal wings ever

It's good shit, even if it departs heavily from the pottery of a blue haired blue eyed white guy millionaire with feathery angel wings who is codenamed Angel. But the Death costume is the best he's ever had and it requires him to have sickass razor wings and be blue

Because i love his art and want to see him drawing my husbandos and waifus.

That's not what status quo is, though.

>It's good shit

Nah, leave your 90s edginess and your tripcode at the door please.

Ok I'm confuse about the character progression of Angel
He started off as Angel. White guy with feather wings.

Then Apocalyse changes him into Archangel.

Then, somehow, it is revealed that his original wings grew back under the metal wings (which is stupid since the razor wings were retractable ) But his skin was still blue.
At that point I'm lost
At some point either his re-grown feather wings weren't actually organic, they were techno-organic and could shift between feather and razor mode? Did he ever lose the blue skin?
I only remember him reappearing in X-Force and I don't know what happened between the Crimson Dawn thing and X-Force

It's the best version of Angel. He's a shit character otherwise.

Explain what is wrong with the made of edge wings aside from span

Shut up. Making him dangerous and techno-organic was the best thing to happen to the character. He was literally useless and redundant in every way prior to that.

Giving him metal wings doesn't improve his character, at all, it improves his effectiveness in combat only. They tried to give him artificial angst with the wings, it never worked either.

His character already had an arc, brought down from riches to being a freak, and learning to deal with it. Then progressing to be a public mutant figure, learning that he can be more useful as a different kind of ally to the mutant cause.

His fall is good too, but that's where his saga should've ended if you ask me. I like him as a tragic figure, a lighting rod for criticism.

But of course, you idiots want him to be an edgy fighting machine.

Show one Angel look that is as cool as edgy blue man with knife feathers.

I agree with you completely that his arc should go past any angst because X-Men is a weird property in that characters have the possibility to move forward. But the Death look is the single best look the character has ever had as a hero. No X-whatever yellow and blue of his is any good and neither are any of his solos like that ugly red thing with the cut out for the hair and a halo on the front

>my taste is so refined and perfect, maybe one day you'll join me in the euphoria

He lost his blue skin during that stupid manga phase Uncanny went through in the early 2000s.
Some plant mutant sucked the blue out of him...somehow.
That was NuMarvel and I don't remember much of it.

Easy, X-Factor costumes are the best for the original X-Men.

Option two would be the blue/white with the thalo combo. Option three would be a business suit, with his wings proudly displayed.

>BTFO

Shit, that was option 2, here's option 1.

Look at that blue and purple mess, holy shit, he looks like a retarded Spidey 2099.

First of all, the X-Men fight. any other capacity they are given is secondary and beside the point. You 've got a guy who's only ability is to fly, with fragile bones and wings no less, on a team FULL of people who can fly and do other things who aren't nearly as weak.

His character arc was over in the 70s. Rich guy who comes to term with what he is. La-dee-damn-da. At that point he was only useful as an explanation for how the X-Men could afford a jet jet every few months.

X-Factor vol1 suits were the best for everybody.
Why it took so long to put Angel in a suit that was total ass is a mystery.

Kia Asamiya is a bottom tier illustrator

Anything with the exposed hair is dumb and it ruins the whole angel thing. Something without a head/mask would be better, also no gloves. One of the things I like about the Death is the bands around the wrists, but that wouldn't work too hot with a nonblue edgywinged Angel. Exposed hands, but with something around the cuffs would be good

Also only Cyclops has a good X-Factor costume

>His character arc was over in the 70s.

Yeah, dude, that's exactly what I said, congratulations.

Angel's potential is not as a fighter, doesn't mean he shouldn't have been on the original X-Men (it was a school after all), doesn't mean he shouldn't appear in the book regularly.

There's a multitude of ways you can set him up (like in AoA, he was interesting). Giving him a shitty power up and a palette swap is one of the most boring ideas you could apply to him, and yet they did it.

But look on the bright side, your desires are what became reality, he is on the X-Men as a killer Archangel with metal wings. Completely unmemorable, if you ask me, since he is on a team full of people who can kill and do other things, much better than him.

I remember thinking that art was fucking incredible. X-Mena nd manga art!? How is this not awesome!?!?!?

Boy, that does NOT hold up all these years later.

>How is this not awesome!?!?!?
>Boy, that does NOT hold up all these years later.

You answered it yourself

>Also only Cyclops has a good X-Factor costume

I mean, that's completely wrong but OK.

Look at that glorious hair...

Yet you chose to gloss over all the character stuff, exactly what you accuse other people of, simply because those chose to keep him active rather than just a background character with a bank account.

I know. Thinking it was awesome was what I thought about it back then

I was not aware this was a thing...

Luckily there are people to actually draw his designs and make them look decent in the case of Nadesico (even though Yurika and Ruri are the only really good designs). But he's not a very talented man on his own with the bug eyes and big angular noses on everyone and smooshed faces

The hair was and will always be dumb

>austen

I haven't read X-Men much but I know Chuck Austen's run was horrible. Why is that?

Making mutants immune to STDs
Making Nightcrawler become to pope and then killing people with communion wafers
Having Angel fuck a teenager in front of her parents

This book is a must read.

small time

The thing I remember most is the horrible post-millennial, NuMarvel (forgot about that term until today) dialog.

That era was trying rrreally hard to be edgy

His Uncanny team had a character whose power was literally just being a slut

Gross

Literally DeviantArt tier

Most of Remender's X-Force was about Apocalypse and that run is great
