So do they just show a little story about a god and then ditch it or do they establish them for later?

So do they just show a little story about a god and then ditch it or do they establish them for later?

I want to cum inside Laura's barren rotten zombie womb.

>So do they just show a little story about a god and then ditch it or do they establish them for later?

The tv show seems to be following the book fairly well (baring last night's episode) and in the book, we get back-stories about each of the Old Gods and how they came to America and who are all being gathered together by Odin, so odds are the tv show will be doing the same

I was to titty-fuck Audrey

If you're talking about the stories of gods that aren't interacting with Shadow, they're just anecdotes of how they arrived in America.

>your dead friend comes back to life
>literally the greatest miracle in all of human history (to your knowledge)
>cry a little then 5 minutes later just accept that Zombies and with it Life after Death (THE GREATEST FUCKING QUESTION OF ALL TIME) are real
>Don't tell anyone though, give her a ride

This scene was pretty great. We'll acted on both sides.

Shit's surreal

Wouldn't matter too.

Is the show good? I sort of enjoyed the book, or at least the concept. Then it got really uninteresting somewhere in the middle and only got a bit good again at the end with the small snowy town murder mystery that felt really disconnected from the rest.

finally an episode without any cocks

Ffffffff

>tell someone
>they start to think you are going insane
>tell more people
>you get hospitalized for nervous breakdown after husband's death

I mean, depressing or not, that would happen.

Blacked! hehe xD

*BRAAAAAAAAP*

This. Short of kidnapping Laura (which would be impossible due to her super human strength) and showing her off as proof nobody would believe you.

the nig was literally cucked by a white man.

Dude had a huge dick too

>avian bottle

24 .oz, easily.

Last night I crossed the line from being merely disappointed with this show to openly hating it.

Reported

This was easily the worst episode so far. Shadow's wife is a detestable cunt played by a truly unappealing actress. Her character is absolute worthless human garbage.

The scenes of her beating up the thugs who were trying to hang Shadow is one of the dumbest, most laughable moments in tv history.

Out of the CtA stories we've had two get directly involved in the plot (one of them essentially being the whole plot) so it's a safe assumption.

She just wanted the zombie whore to get out of her house, leave Audrey alone.

Latest episode fucking blew holy shit

they're more about setting up how the universe works in the show, the Djinn and Bilquis never shows up in the plot but they exist to show how gods function in this world i.e belief = makes real and blood/sacrifice = power

Jesus what was that episode even trying to do?

Make a junkie cheating whore likeable by giving her muhh stronk women fighter and funny toilet humour moments?

Jesus i genuinely cannot think of a reedemable scene in the entire hour. Compared to last weeks it could be a different fucking show.

This is going to be the 'woman' plotline that plagues every fucking show isn't it? That just drags on and on and on

>Jesus
Please stop using the lord's name in vain

>reddit: the show

she was a cunt in the book too though

bilquis shows up again when she gets btfo. that scene is fairly important to the plot

So yeah, Jesus does pretty good over here. But I met a guy who said he saw him hitchhiking by the side of the road in Afghanistan and nobody was stopping to give him a ride. You know? It all depends on where you are.

It's just following the book, the book is shit mind you - only a cuck could enjoy it.

Actually appropriate onomatopoeia.

Just started watching but god damn already, what was up with that slaveship scene, it felt like a rally for BLMs.

>'and killed by police!'
>fails to mention how they become/remain a bunch of savages who kill themselves by the thousands

Only just seen the first episode
Can somebody please tell me what was up with that interracial sex scene? Why'd the fat white guy get succ'd up?

Hold on a second. So what exactly does Jesus do? I mean, Anubis has the afterlife cornered no matter what you believe in apparently.

think that was added just for the show because well anansi is a trickster god not a war god

She went to anubis because of the egyptian themed casino.

Then he tricks them into sacrificing themselves.

Your point falls a bit flat

>Anubis has the afterlife cornered no matter what you believe in apparently.
yeah thats bs non cannon bullshit, no idea why they added that in to Laura's story, they should have just had her climb out of her grave.

gods need belief in order to exist, if you believe you'll see anubis or jesus or a 3 legged pink hamster that eats all your teeth then thats what will happen when you die because your belief made it so, as the quote said, US Jesus isn't the same as afghan Jesus. super mega spoilers for the book epilogue

That's a goddamn weak excuse.

except she never believed in the egyptian gods so its still dumb

Wew lad

I agree it's dumb but that dude, whoever he is, is great in the part. Really got the voice and the look down to a fucking T

I'm still hoping the explanation for Anubis is something different.

His sentence is "The circumstances of your death commit me". Not of her life, her death. So the casino feels wrong.

Personal pet theory is some Odin shenanigans. We'll see.

>Personal pet theory is some Odin shenanigans. We'll see.

This is probably it. Some intervention by Odin is what got her killed at that point to free Shadow up for his use. Anubis, as a fellow old god, gets clean up duty.

there is no overreaching explanation seeing as it's not in the book.

except for the heavy handed use of ravens, really enjoyed the last episode

Just because it's not in the book doesn't mean there hasn't been an attempt at decently incorporating it in a way that makes sense with the rest.

By that token we should just ignore the added upcoming Vulcan bits altogether and dismiss them as senseless since they weren't in the book.

For some reason this was my favorite episode so far. The comedy in it was fucking great

Audrey and Anubis were still good.

we can all agree that ep 4 could have been condensed into like 15-20 minutes and the rest of the time used to furthur the story right?

any episode like this im just gonna drop it till the series is over and just watch it like that through piracy. not gonna waste time waiting for the show all week and giving it views/rating if there gonna shit in my face like this.

there were a few crows following them before the crash

the show is cringy as fuck at times but that doesn't mean it's not an interesting universe to explore, the anubis scenes we're goat t b q h

you're gonna thank the creators for this episode later, mark my words, it was needed.

Tell me they rush through that shitty non-Fargo Montana town as fast as possible

Kissless basement dweller detected.

We know, hence the Odin theory. But the crows are a hint, not a proof.

Without going into spoiler territory; we know Odin most likely engineered most everything from Shadow going to Prison onward. Adding the death of Laura seems a logical ft.

but that was the best part of the book

it pleased your cuck soul or why? it wasn't any more special than other scenes

really dislike the week to week wait, but i can't stop watching it as it comes out.
also, love the intro so much, wish the song were longer

Come on man, this isn't Sup Forums, try harder.

I don't know, the deviations from original story change quite a few things. We'll see if it's for the better.

Anubis did specifically say,
>The circumstances of your death commit me.
And since Odin's birds were about for the crash there's gotta be more to it than there seems. I'm sure he says in the previous episode that he hasn't had anyone in a while until Egypt-studying cat lady comes along.

you should definitely do that

also, you should stop wasting your valuable time here

thanks for sharing

you mean Lakeside? I heard that the second season will be set there mostly

I'm optimistic, but only because Gaiman was at the head of the creator team, I hope they don't fuck it up

Oh cool, brb gonna kill myself

bye

this show is overated edgy garbage, only a child would like this filth

So if studying Anubis gets cat-lady to Anubis, does that mean worshipping Media gets you to TV-heaven to live eternally with your waifu?

new gods seem more parasitic, taking all the belief but othering nothing in return. sure the old gods demand blood and sacrifice but atleast they gave something back in exchange. no one dreams of a tv afterlife so it doesn't exist

>you're gonna thank the creators for this episode later, mark my words, it was needed.

no because it wasnt in the books so theres no way you magically know it was needed. it was filler and a excuse to show more useless sex scenes so theres stories about it.

>no one dreams of a tv afterlife so it doesn't exist
But if someone did is that what they'd get? Because I'm fairly sure at least some have.

>no because it wasnt in the books so theres no way you magically know it was needed

I don't magically know, but Gaiman probably has his reasons. Don't get me wrong, I have my own doubts as well, but I'm optimistic because of Neil. Let's hope it works out well.

>Let's hope it works out well.

true,true.

however im mad next week we are barely getting to the shadow talking to her part. they coulda fit that in this week. so 2 episodes of talking and being no further into the main story.

Shit ep with a shit character. There is not a single likeable thing about her. The only way this show can redeem itself it that whore suffers for eternity.

I think they cut Lakeside altogether, bless their souls.

it would have to be the majority of people that connect worshipping tv with a tv afterlife. 1 pacifist worshipping a war god isn't going to change that god into a pacifist.

e.g if i say Zeus we all get an image of a white bearded guy throwing lightning bolts and raping women, its a shared meme of what zeus is and over time that image can change into something new

One thing to take into account is that the collective belief will apparently overtake the belief of the individual in the ways interactions with gods are shaped.

You may have a personal interpretation of a god, but it will weight less than the everyone else's on the balance.

>it's just one guy in this thread continually mad that people on Sup Forums enjoy this show and he can't

I don't remember how it worked out in the books, but what if a god kills another god? Is he getting reborn if people still believe in him or is his spirit broken and he starts to fade away? What I mean is, is the human mind - divinity relationship a two way road?

The whore won't suffer for eternity, she'll go to nothing. There will be darkness.

>being no further into the main story

by the end of the second episode, we were already in relatively far in the story (relatively-considering there will be 3 seasons of one book) so I think it's worth it to do some character-centered episodes and not only progressing with the actual plot

Seeing it all from her perspective, especially Shadow as a sidecharacter, was a nice take. Emily Browning is a bretty gud actress desu

Why are there like 8 posts in this thread about how they hated the episode cause they found out that Laura was a huge whore? You didn't get that with the first episode where he finds out she was cheating on him? This episode simply gives more context into their relationship.

The show almost explicitly paints Laura as someone you shouldn't like, it's not some strong womyn rallying cry

You already knew she was a cheating whore. And now she is a walking dead cheating whore. They could have at least picked an interesting character and stop making so many goddamn sex scenes.

It's not subtle, nor I think trying to be, but heavy-handed seem a bit harsh

Not like we had long, repeated, insistent close up shots of the ravens

One pacifist believing a war god should be peaceful is in direct conflict with everybody else believing the war god is a war god. For the TV-afterlife there is no conflict, it's belief vs. lack of belief. If it worked like you're saying then the entire afterlife would be defined by the majority, meaning either there is no afterlife or the afterlife consists solely of Abrahamic heaven and hell, and since Anubis is still roaming pointing out five doors we know that isn't the case.

/r9k/ is still a board user. Honestly, every hero's journey should have a segment where his wife/lover/etc becomes the protagonist. Puts things into perspective. The Odyssey has a real long segment about Penelope and telemachus, Greeks knew their shit.

you spend eternity watching a blooper reel of all your mistakes in life, dubbed with laugh tracks and wilhelm screams

maybe they lose the ability to use the belief people give them or maybe it takes time to pull themselves back together, one god dies in the book but he still hangs around as a 'ghost'

Thank God I studied a lot about Hecate.

I read it a really long time ago, who dies?

i'm taking about the majority of people who believe in that one god, not total majority belief. christians get a christian afterlife, odinists get valhalla, and those that still believe in egyptian gods get Anubis and his scales. there is no collective belief in a tv afterlife so theres no power to create it

Character-centred episodes aren't the problem, it's having entire segments that tell us nothing we don't already know that's a problem. Before the episode I thought,
>Laura's a scummy, cheating, cardboard whore
And after the episode I thought,
>Laura's a scummy, cheating, cardboard whore who worked at a casino
Her backstory does nothing to change anything and could have been skipped, wasn't even interesting on its own. The Coming to America bits for example are character-centred and aren't necessary to furthering the plot, yet it involves actually learning things about the characters and world, and amount to more than a whore looking bored for thirty minutes.

[spoilers]the show has already said[/spoilers]

>we don't get an afterlife
>those weirdos from Sup Forums and Sup Forums do

Fuck. Wait, our afterlife would be us being thrown out of a plane by CIA, right?

>there are people on Sup Forums this retarded that think character's are defined by their actions and not their motivation

that scene repeating forever is my idea of heaven and let's face it we've practically already willed cia and co into being gods
