Watchmen storytime part 1/2

Well, seems like this will be very relevant this week, so let's read the origins of Rebirth's big bad[/Spoiler]
Also a damn good story on its own

...

Best page

...

It is quite literally time.

...

All of the keks

...

...

...

...

Watchmen is still fucking amazing

...

The first time I read it I stood awake until like 4 AM, I literally couldn't put it down.

...

That's the thing when Moore is on point.
Stuff is just completely engrossing.

I still love this zoom out of the covers

...

>Vietnam 51 State
>Pirate
>X-Ships

and Gibbons

...

And Gibbons.
And honestly, even Burrows has become engrossing.

It's when it lines up both the text and artwork both reach the eyes in satisfying ways.

...

...

...

>Russia protests US in Afghanistan

...

why would watchman be relevant? did they announce Watchmen 2:Electric Boogaloo

I never really noticed just how Owl like Dan looks. like look at the middle panel

...

Oh, you sweet innocent child.

...

...

Watchmen already got a sequel series that everyone forgot. But the newest DC reset apparently has Dr. Manhattan behind it all, which is fine, since he is a literal capital g God by the end of Watchmen. Apparently it is because he is the most nihilistic character they could get, which is crazy. He's fatalistic, sure...but nihilistic? If anything, the end of Watchmen is him being pretty damned hopeful/introspective. But whatever.

...

yeah Johns seems to attribute malice to him? instead of just indifference, but maybe once we read it it'll make sense.

i wanna know how he's tied in with Martians now

Before Watchmen was a prequel, not a sequel.

...

I always loved how Rorschach mangled one of the figures

...

...

...

...

...

...

That last panel always makes me think the detective is about to jump out. The red spot on the pavement is too small for me to notice, and the glass shards.. well, I'm just not very observant.

Oh my fucking god this color use.

...

...

...

Hollis was a saint.

>Manhattan reacting to Dan and Laurie's ending in the last panel

It's weird to me how Dan seems genuinely afraid of Rorschach, despite having worked with him for years. I like how Snyder directed the scene in the movie, desu senpai.

...

Wow that sounds retarded.

...

Rorschach is a psycho. I'd be afraid of him too, even if we were colleagues.

He came home to find a lunatic broke into his house and was eating his food.

Crazy people are scary even if you knew them before they went nutso.

...

...

...

>implying i'm gonna read all this shit

Actually, fuck it. I didn't read the back text the first time I read Watchmen, so I might as well now.

...

dat tear

The phantom skull on the other covers still the best though

how are there still people who don't/haven't read the back matter

This is my favorite cover btw

You should, it's actually really fascinating stuff.

who the fuck reads watchmen? do I look like a faggot or something?

...

It's even more of a problem with Providence.

You sure looked like one when you were sucking that tranny's cock.

I only read Chapter 1 but I gave up due to all the text pages. I'm going to buy this but should I also buy killing joke?

Been waiting for the shelf thread to die before I asked this but that doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon.

...

Killing Joke isn't a bad option.
But I say the first Providence HC.

That needs more love.

...

>Implying its gay to suck a woman's cock
Stay salty, roast-kisser

TKJ is overrated. Buy Promethea.

When people freak out about text pieces I feel like it just justifies Wertham's comments that comics are for illiterates

Man, it's nice having an excuse to reread this. I didn't care for it when I first read it, but I was a young kid who only cared about hypermuscle-ized 90s superheroes beating the shit out of each other. The second time I read it was in University for some course where we read lots of comics and "alternate literature" as the Professor put it. Enjoyed it a bit more, but started to hate it because of how pretentious the Professor was and wouldn't listen to anyone but his own voice.

Wasn't until I read it on my own a few years later that I actually really enjoyed and appreciated it. I still don't care for most of Moore's work though

No such thing as a feminine penis. Stop spreading lies, user.

> Buy Promethea.
Or Top 10

>advertise as a comic
>Only contain 80% comic
>"I-its not like it matters that I lied. It's YOUR f-fault for not liking my 6 page essays!"

...

Or Supreme

Have you seen every penis on Earth, user?

...

Image needs to put out some new Supreme collections.

Or Tom Strong

Are we reading Before Watchmen next? :,)

You'd have to get the floppies.
The cheap tpbs were pretty bad.

...

Yeah Checker or whatever the publisher was called. I mean those collections didn't even include the covers

Why on Earth would we do that

Because it's canon of course!

Or the special backmatter to the end of the Darius Dax arc

Dat Manhattan/Laurie background flirting

>captcha is Holland

I mean someone already storytimed the one relevant mini so who gives a shit

>the first time you see Dr Manhattan he takes up two full columns
I love the god damn 3x3 grid.

I will admit to unironically enjoying Minutemen and Silk Spectre tho

...

I didn't care for Silk Spectre...but I really did like reading Minutemen.

Comedian and Dollar Bill.
What a team.
