Twin Peaks

Anyone else missing the comfyness of the original show?

I like Lynch movies but 18 hours of Inland Empire-esque dark stuff seems a bit long, should have mixed up the formula a bit.

we're not very far into the story yet

i do remember them saying it was going to start with getting back to twin peaks, just like we're all kind of coming back to it as well 25 years after

A soft reboot would have been interesting for maybe 10 minutes.
Be glad Lynch didn't make Fan Service: The Show

It's just starting man, give it time.

this

The colors are all different, as is the tone without Coop's positive attitude. I'm not complaining but I don't see the comfiness returning, even though early S1 is very different from the rest of the series too.

We already have a Twin Peaks General going

So, it's pretty obvious when the Log Lady said there's something missing about Dale Cooper tied to Hawk's heritage, she's obviously referring to the fact Cooper's soul is missing from his body (Dougie Jones) and is still trapped within the body of Evil Cooper, right?

This would explain the fact Dougie Jones is acting braindead and Evil Cooper still holds all of Coopers memories

CALL

>Implying the dream-like atmosphere isn't comfy

That could be it, but I really don't think they'll be getting out there to help him, seems more like Coop has to rediscover himself and then get back.

No.

No, as I'm enjoying the comfiness of the new show.

I think it'll come back. There's been more lighthearted moments towards the end. Coop sitting at the breakfast table, Michael Cera's rambling speech. (My favorite moment so far.)

I suspect once/if Coop gets his identity back, the show will become more like it was...

It's clearly not 18 hours of Inland Empire or Lost Highway type darkness. Episode 3 and 4 featured some downright goofy comedy.

>komfy nostalgia for unremembered 90s

underage &b

>the colors are all different
Lynch doesn't shoot with film anymore, he's on the digital bandwagon. It's the right call ultimately, and it makes for easy color correction later.

That said, not very many of the scenes called for the stifling warmth of the Great Northern yet. The scene in Ben Horne's office felt different on purpose I think, potentially to account for it needing to feel like Ben is a changed man. His office was completely new, and the natural light coming into the windows helped it feel less surly in there. I do think the Sherriff's station had the right temperature fwiw, it felt more or less the same but with more clarity in the image.

>muh comfy
>muh 90's soap opera parody

I love how hard Lynch is giving you the middle finger with this new season

that said, it'd be nice if Lynch added some light vignetting to scenes that aren't "Lost Highway car shot #197"

We got cop drama NCIS parody instead.

what in the fuck does that have to do with Indians

>NCIS
it's Fargo ya dingus

That would explain the accent, cheers

accent, matey?

it just clearly borrows themes from Fargo. accent has nothing to do with it

Lynch's style has always been about subverting the audience's expectations and disarming them. It makes perfect sense that he would approach the new season like this, and I love it.

Generals are fucking cancer kill yourself reddit

normies getting btfo

The show is goofy as fuck. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be as goofy and campy as it is. Maybe that still isn't comfy but it's definitely not the same atmosphere of Inland Empire.

Implying the James is still cool bar scene was grimdark.

Episode 4 seems much more in the vein of the series but I'm still liking the new creepiness. All the Dougie and Wally Brando stuff feels ripped straight out of the original series too.

My hope is that it doesn't spend 16 of those 18 episodes trying to merge the two Coops.

That would be such a drag, because it's like you sit there waiting for something you know is going to happen, happen - as sloowly as possible.

HELLLOOOOOOOOO

are you talking about season 3?

The biggest difference is the complete lack of music in the new season. The scenes at the sheriff station would have been like original TP with Badalamenti's music in the background.

Yes. You really need to rematch the first 4 episodes of this season if you think it's all grimdark serious business stuff.

episode 1 and 2 weren't, and if you've watched the fist two seasons or anything by David Lynch then you really shouldn't be surprised at the campy humour

> Inland Empire-esque dark stuff
TP3 is shit. Not even dark low quality shit

There's quite a lot to do with Indians & Twin Peaks in Mark Frost's book

isnt it hawks heritage because coop was in a casino and indians run casinos?

It's like inland empire?
I actually want to watch it if so

parts of it are

Yup, but don't ever say that, lest the insufferable faggots that inhabit this board accuse you of being a pleb, #LYNCHED, etc.

Not really. People are only saying that because they consider both "weird". Season 3 so far is a lot more structured than Inland Empire but has a lot more out there concepts and more overtly supernatural things. It's also a lot sillier. The parallel storylines remind me more of Mulholland Drive and there's actually quite a bit of things that feel straight out of Eraserhead but overall I think it feels like it's own thing mostly and not something that Lynch has done before.

So just like my animes but with more adult characters, rape and drugs.

it was comfy as fuck though, it had the silent hill combo of being cathartic but also dread-inducing and weird.

>18 hours of Inland Empire-esque dark stuff seems a bit long
Have you seen all 18 hours? Does your uncle work for Showtime?

Fucking dreadful comeback. Who the fuck am I supposed to cosplay as at Twin Peaks cons now? Disgrace.

You guys are ruining everything. Fucking fanboys will never get enough of the same crap. I watched the premiere and it was very fine, didn't get bored. The old serie had way too much filler and comfyness. Fucking dumbasses want the worse of Twin Peaks, people hanging out at bars drinking coffee and eating donuts. That was just painful, I'm glad they cut this crap.

Dougie stuff is way more creepy than the original series tbqh.

All of it so far is multiple people ignoring someone showing symptoms of a severe neurological disorder like they couldn't give a fuck. Feels like watching those liveleak clips where some chink gets gruesomely killed in accident but no one around cares because they're chinks and emapthy doesn't fit through the slanty eyes.
