Seriously what went wrong with this season? Did Genndy just not care?

it's a fucking cartoon you manchidlren

back to Sup Forums

Why did Aku not give a shit this season?

The voice actor was a glib facsimile of Mako so they were on thin ice with his character.

>Cartoons are only for children
>It's Ok for Cartoons to lack any semblance of logic and it cannot be criticized for it

>Kills Aku
>Returns home
>Life returns to normal
>Plans wedding
>Gets to the altar
>Ashi walks up the aisle
>'Oh no, the paradox is correcting itself day, even weeks, after it should have. At this most heartbreaking and random of moments'.

Started good, but the last 2 episodes were awful and rushed

why didnt aku just send jack to a time when earth didnt exist?

Yeah, they are and it is. They're intrinsically silly by nature.

They clearly illustrate how Aku just didn't care anymore and didn't even want to think about Jack.

That was the entire point of making him mopey, which they establish episode one of season five.

The wedding scene at the ending was a straight rip off of the ending to Gurren Lagaan. Except done far worse.

She just goes "oh shit I don't actually exist" and goes poof.

why did it take so long for the poofing to occur?

Fucking Time Gal disintegrates the moment she shoots some cavemen.

We don't know how long ago Jack lost his sword. It could've been 50 years or it could've been 2 months.

FFX did it better

That of course depends on the cartoon and who the creators are making it for. Cartoons are meant to be enjoyed by anyone and just because they're age appropriate for children doesn't mean they're only for children.

Look up interviews for Cartoon writers and they'll tell you that the material they write for there cartoons is what they think is good not what Children would think is good.

In fact, cartoons like the Looney Tunes were enjoyed by everyone back then.

This is of course if you're talking about "Cartoons" and not "Animation"

Can we all just agree that given the logic of the time travelling either Ashi should still exist or killing Aku results in the undoing of the future meaning jack can't travel back and therefore Aku still does exist? It's silly.

>just because they're age appropriate for children doesn't mean they're only for children.

This is what manchildren always say to justify their interest in children's entertainment. I bet you read that stupid ass C.S. Lewis quote every day, don't you?

Then I guess The Dark Knight was made specifically for 13 year olds because the film is rated PG-13.

I always find that the same type of people that give shit to other people for watching cartoons are the same people that watch stupid shit like Jersey Shore and Honey Boo Boo.

Although I'm sure that a retarded Frog Poster like you has an amazing taste in media. I'm sure you're in the high position to call anyone else a manchild when you're using a Frog (Which originated from a comic which are usually thought of as being for children btw.)

>Then I guess The Dark Knight was made specifically for 13 year olds

lel, are you actually implying that it wasn't? Have you actually seen the movie? It's tailor made for teenagers.

No? What do you mean the logic of the time traveling? The only time traveling we see in the show is at the start and end of the series. Nothing in Jack going to the future or Jack going to the past contradicts each other. The logic of the show is internally consistent. You're making the same mistake that all plebs in time travel discussions make, you're pulling in rules from other universes and applying it to another setting.

>We have commandeered this Samurai to save you, Samurai.

This was a nice touch

All his friends coming back to rescue him was good, I thought. Except for the rave people who felt out of place.

But what the hell happened with the Guardian's prophecy of old jack using the time portal? They seem to have just abandoned that idea.

Somehow I knew you'd say
>lol, it was meant for edgy and deep teens

Pick whatever PG-13 film that has gore, sex, or Complicated topics. It's the same example.

You still haven't addressed the hypocrisy of unironically using a cartoon frog and calling adults who watch cartoons manchildren.

Aku was bullshitting, his henchmen generally suck

I want to say it was implied that the "rebellion" knocked out his surveillance systems but I don't remember it being explicitly stated.

>You still haven't addressed the hypocrisy of unironically using a cartoon frog and calling adults who watch cartoons manchildren.

lol you're really grasping at straws here.

There's a pretty big difference between posting a popular reaction image that happens to originate from a cartoon and actually watching cartoons and thinking that you aren't a sad manchild.

But it still originated from an art form that's deemed only for children. Cartoons and Comics have a common stigma of being for children.

Of course, despite being one of those children's things in which you appear to be above with your superior taste, you still think posting a Cartoon Frog does not make you a hypocrite in any way just because it's popular.

If you were to show the average person walking down the street a picture of Pepe, they will automatically assume it's from a Children's Cartoon or Comic.

Is your pride really that hurt that you have to keep defending yourself so you can feel like your a superior human being to other people just because of the shitty programs you watch?

Despite that, you're still a pathetic person who's at the bottom barrel of society regardless if you watch cartoons or not. Watching cartoons is inconsequential to how adequate you are in life.

>started good
I knew from episode 3 that it'd be a trainwreck. Maybe it's because they're not used to making a sustained storyline, or maybe this and Genndy didn't give a shit.

>rave people
I never understood why they chose to focus on those cringy rave people. There were a lot of folks that Samurai Jack saved who were much better done than the ravers. Maybe they wanted to garner the SJW audience?

You're a moron, my man

>if I reject what I deem childish I'll be an adult!

you'll never be an adult

FOOLISH SAMURAI

>it's okay for me to keep myself lock in childhood even when I was supposed to grow up and become an adult a long time ago. Being a manchild makes me a REAL adult!

>straight rip off of the ending to Gurren Lagaan
I'm not autistic and don't watch weebshit so I don't care.

Nice Counter Argument, Just what I was expecting from someone with the mental capacity of a cockroach.

samurai jack was an adult swim, it was supposed to be an adult cartoon even though it just proved to the world genndy can only write kids shows.

>samurai jack was an adult swim

So were Family Guy and Inuyasha, also examples of mature and sophisticated entertainment for adults

so adults should only watch stuff that only adults watch? anything under R would be off limits, then. No star wars, star trek, titanic, breaking bad... those are all for kids. Real adults only watch horror movies and porn.

Can everyone please remember that Aku got his ass kicked in the very first fucking episode.

Okay? Goodbye. Hush up. shhhhhuuuuut your mout.

>so adults should only watch stuff that only adults watch?
Yes
>anything under R would be off limits, then.
No stupid. The rating itself doesn't matter. Plenty of adult movies are rated PG just like how plenty of movies for kids and teens are rated PG13 or R. Most comic book capeshit movies are rated PG13 and you'd wouldn't dare argue that those are "adult", would you?
>No star wars, star trek, titanic, breaking bad... those are all for kids.
Star Wars literally IS for children.
>Real adults only watch horror movies and porn
Horror has always been primarily aimed at teenagers

Sue me.

What a dumb argument

Because the show would've lasted 1 episode

The REAL question here
Is there gonna be another season?

I said ONLY adults. Any movie under R is enjoyed by kids and teens and therefore is not OK for adults because kids can and do watch them. And I guess porn and horror movies aren't ok either, because teens watch those, so... what is OK to watch? Even seemingly "adult" movies like terminator, fight club, pulp fiction, fear and loathing, are watched by teenagers all the time because they don't suddenly change in quality when you become an adult.

and tell me, mr. mature adult, what movies do you watch?

I wonder if it was intentional or not but the ending scene where ashi disappears REALLY reminded me of the similar scene from tengen toppa gurren lagaan... anyone else notice this?

>Yes yes, well done Jack
>You killed Aku
>However

I'm glad there's still some loose ends.

We could conceivably see Jack traveling the world looking for the guardians portal.

>Travel to moment before Aku is killed.
>Trap him in sword instead
>Place sword in emperors palace where no one can reach it
>Make sweet love to Ashi whilst Dean Martin sings

youtube.com/watch?v=juXgMeb8x5o
it was all kino til the fucktarded ending.

>Not autistic
>Watches cartoons
Nice try

>reddit spacing
posting a reaction image isn't the same as sitting down and watching a childrens show, then going on Sup Forums to complain about inconsistancies. Your argument sucks and you're a fag

>1 waifu from the samurai

the fifth season was meant for people who grew up with the show as a kid, it's for teens and adults, hence why it's on adult swim

It is logically inconsistent
>aku sends jack to futures
>between past and future, aku gits gud, and rules the world
>daughters of Aku are raised as a result
>ashi sends jack back
>jack kills aku
>Aku doesn't git gud due to dead
>no daughters due to no aku
>no ashi
>no ashi made time portal
>no jack going back to the past

>trap him in sword
Yeah because that worked SO well last time

>WHO REMEMBER HOW EBIN CARTOON NETWORK WAS! XD

Fuck off nostalgia fags its shit show.

How to fix the ending:

>Jack kills daughter after pursuit sparing Ashi but he never finds her and goes his own way
>Ashi wakes up and tries to pursue him
>Along the way she encounters everyone he has helped and changes her mind
>She barely catches up to Jack before the Omen kills him, before leaving it warns Jack of his and Ashis fate should he suceed.
>Jack goes to get his sword but can't, Ashi's mother attacks and Jack stops Ashi from killing her.
>The sword returns to him for being purehearted and he's forced to kill her mother.
>Jack finds the guardian to beg him to let him use the portal
>the guardian won't allow him and is revealed as his father, who knows Ashi will not exist if he does.
>Rest goes as per the show, Ashi throws them both into the portal in sacrifice but Jack doesn't understand what it means
>Aku enters the sword and he throws it through the time portal Aku made
>Aku now exists in the future but is trapped in the sword and Ashi lives.

>ashi's mother
How is that in anyway pure hearted? And doesn't it go completely against the reception jack felt if the first thing he does with his sword is kill another human?
>guardian is jacks father
U wot?
>Aku in sword, ashi lives
No Aku means: (a) there would be no one there to worship him, so no daughters of Aku, and (b) no Aku to drop a black load in a cup for mama ashi

>FOOLISH SAMURAI
> YOU THINK YOU CAN IMPRISON NE FOREVER... THERE SHALL COME A DAY WHEN YOUR COURAGE WILL FAIL AND EVIL WILL RULE ONCE AGAIN
> and when that day comes the world will be ready, for I have seen the future and there shall always be warriors prepared to fight for good... warriors like samurai jack

> WHATCHAAACH

See even I coulda come up with a better ending

>genndy didn't think to have aku infest Jack's sword somehow so that the happy ending could feature a cryptic but otherwise pleasant epilogue
Glad I never, and I mean never ever watched this show when it was airing.

I said I was going to be a doctor when I grew up but then I didn't because it was too much work. Why is my life's writer such a hack? Not realistic at all, 2/10.

Ya, I agree, according to the show, Jack still went to and did everything in the future, then a new time portal brought him back to kill aku. If anything, the final episode would be a divergent timeline, but doesn't cancel out the middle timeline, they really didn't do paradox correction properly, or really need to.

>reddit spacing
I spaced it like that since it would make it easier for people of your intellect to properly follow my argument since putting it all together in one paragraph might be difficult for you to process.

And going on Sup Forums and posting reaction images of a cartoon frog somehow makes you less pathetic than someone who watches cartoons? You realize what this image board was originally intended for right?

Your argument is unsubstantial and your an insufferable dumb ass.

Does anybody have a link for the last episode? I really missed out for so fucking long

>what went wrong
that you missed the board

>guardian prophecy
I like to think it was only one possible future for jack if he did everything perfectly. He made too many mistakes and the sudoku ghosts came
