Days like this are why I still read comics.
Justice League 50 was kind of a mess and Darkseid War as a whole was a disappointment but holy hell Rebirth was fantastic.
I haven't read DC comics since like mid-Brightest Day and reading Rebirth has intrigued me.
Is there anything I should read to catch up?
you'll be fine
>“Rebirth is about focusing in on the core of the character and their respective universe,” says writer and DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns. “It brings back what has been lost: the legacy of the characters, the love and the hope of the DCU!”
We wuz just trollan you niggas with all the dark and edgy shit, you didn't really LIKE that stuff, did ya?"
Wally made me cry ;_;
Nope, if anything being familiar with the New 52 might make it harder to get into.
You'll probably cry the next time a Flash dies, and again when they bring one back.
You are kind've a faggot that way.
>Johns favorited a tweet of mine about Rebirth on Twitter
Woah I just realized I was here for the entirety of the New 52. For ten years Dr. Manhattan controlled what I was reading?! How the fuck is this even-
>blue explosion
>tfw love dark and edgy and bright and hopeful
No dualities only symmetries, nigga.
Rebirth is legit the best thing DC has put out in years.
The question is if DC can keep it up and use it as the foundation for the DCU going forward. If they can, it'll could very well be a dawn of a new age for the company.
It would be great if DC could recapture the almost 50/50 market share of the past. Both Marvel and DC had better output when they had a true quasi rival relationship.
Thank you based DC, good work on beating the fuck out of Marvel on this glorious day
For the first time in a long time, I'm legitimately optimistic about the future of DC comics.
Hope burns bright.
>mfw I first started reading monthly series as they came out with the New 52
We were played like a goddamn fiddle
You've swam through so much shit, decent comics now seem like a Godsend!
I saw Manhattan coming but him being in cahoots with Ozy is fucking unbelievable.
I cry every time they kill Barry, Wally, Barry's mom, Wally's mom, Barry's dog......
>Being loyal to a company
Go back to Sup Forums
Liking Steve Rogers: Hydra Agent, so far?
So wait, Dr. Manhattan created the DCU? A lot of the his stuff in before watchmen makes sense now.
I just liked the feel of Rebirth, reading it felt like reading a lot of the older storylines I really like.
I thought he stole ten years from the DCU
As a fan of New 52 Superman, I wouldn't really call today my day. Superman #52 was shit, unceremoniously killed off Superman just so post-crisis Superman could be the One True Superman and Rebirth is basically a big middle finger to anyone who actually liked the New 52.
Good to see Wally back at least.
>Marvel eternally BTFO
>marvel just wrapped up standoff
>better than most modern evens
>dc finally pumped out a mess of and ending for darksid war
>it was a mess
>when marvel made nextwave cannon people loved it
>when dc made watchmen cannon people hated it
I get that you're still insecure about BvS, but come on.
At best this was DC having a good day and Marvel having a normal one, and this is far from BTFO.
>Steve Rogers: Hydra Agent
This is a thing!?
No, while reality was getting reset back to how it was at the end of Flashpoint, Dr. Manhattan stole 10 years from the DCU which caused the whole timeline to get fucked up.
There have been at least 2 threads since the story time.
Haha what this is the dumbest fucking post I read all day.
JL 50 was a mess, but it had moments I absolutely loved.
Rebirth gave me feels a comic hasn't been able to illicit out out me in years.
Even Superman and Grayson were enjoyable today. Unlike the day JL 1 was released, I find myself legitimately, unreservedly hyped for and interested in where the DCU goes from here.
SquirrelGirl
...
Grayson had that Digimon 02 moment where Every version of Dick gets to kick the villain to a curb.
I kinda of wish New 52 Superman could have survived in some sort of Ultimate style universe.
Post-crisis Supes is always going to be the "real" Superman to me, but the new guy had grown on me.
>he laughs as every DC character's backstory becomes more convoluted
>to explain the history of Jim Gordon, you now need to talk about cosmic level events
>Hawkman just got even worse
When he was in t-shirt and jeans mode were his best stories.
there's a good chance he's revealed to be Kal-L The power set/save for the Flare, matches up.
>Johns taking over the DCEU;
>Rebirth series up to a good start;
>Half of the Rebirth line-up looking pretty good;
>Hanna-Barbera titles;
>Way's DC (YOU)ng Animals;
>That Kamandi collaborative thing;
>Morrison working on Multiversity Too, E1 WW vol.2&3 and Batman: Black & White;
>Hickman working on something still unannounced (most likely taking over the JLA title, LoSH or both);
>Upcoming Milestone Comics revival;
What a great time to be alive.
>Hawkman just got even worse
Eventually Hawkman's continuity will be come so convoluted and contradictory that half of it will perfectly cancel out the other half and bring him back down to a simple straightforward origin.
>at least 2
By my count, there's been closer to a dozen.
He'll wake in the shower; it was all a dream
And he looks just like Michael Keaton
>there's a good chance he's revealed to be Kal-L The power set/save for the Flare, matches up.
I hope this is true. That or he's Superboy Prime.
If you think it's bad now, just wait till DC eventually changes his ethnicity and yet have him be the same person.
>What a great time to be alive.
I'll do you one better. What a great time to be a DC fan. Today in particular, and last week to a lesser degree, have me feeling like pic related, except switch out year for decade.
Is anyone else just feeling "meh" over the whole thing?
I mean, i thought everyone was in on the hypercrisis so everything was already part of the same story. New 52 was always just another timeline that we were focusing on now to me. I think it's just the inclusion of the watchmen that will be okay, and even then, i don't see them beating manhattan in a fist fight and dragging it out as they challenge his world views. It's going to be Volthoom 2.0 except gay
>If you think it's bad now, just wait till DC eventually changes his ethnicity and yet have him be the same person.
>Black Hawkman
>Somehow have to link him into the Blackhawks too
>Rebirth is basically a big middle finger to anyone who actually liked the New 52.
And a well-deserved one, who the fuck actually liked the new 52?
Praise the Cereal King
Cereal for the Cereal Throne
Honestly, it doesn't take a lot to beat Marvel when they're putting out the trash they have been putting out.
Still, good stuff so far.
Here's your (you)
Gwenpool.
I'm optimistic but at the same worried if they're going to make a huge mess of this, trying to reconcile both continuities
>Hickman working on something still unannounced
Has this been confirmed?
I enjoyed the Rebirth issue, but more than that holy hell am I happy with Omega Men.
>even the goddamned logo is gone
>Dr. Manhattan stole 10 years from the DCU which caused the whole timeline to get fucked up.
Dr. Manhattan confirmed to be Steven Seagal stealing everybody fuckin' birthday
It's my honest opinion, I haven't touched anything from the big two for a good six months because it's gotten so shitty, but DC managed to interest me with Rebirth, while Marvel has only drawn me away with shit like Gwenpool, Civil War 2, and Capitan America being HYDRA all along.
Here's YOUR (You).
watchman movie 2009.
New 52. 2011.
I'm really hearing a lot of praise for this. Should I pick it up?
What happened today besides Rebirth #1
Now imagine how flashpoint made everyone else feel.
They wouldn't shut the fuck up for 5 years until we got this.
It wasn't even bad, no one took away the old stories, they just couldn't handle a simple timeline change.
No one cares about the stories, they just want THEIR characters back. But hopefully we do get good stories, and a cleaner history because shit was ridiculous before flashpoint.
Celebrate DC Friends, the real winner will be shown once the Sales Chart is posted later next month, then you'll see how jackshit everyone actually cares about this crap.
Yes, definitely.
>Transrace Hawkman
Mite be cool.
Feels good Sup Forums. Cried like a little bitch reading Rebirth.
Drax
Victory
You should, it was a nice comic and you get 80 pages of comic and covers and shit for only 2.99 USD.
It had some decent books, even if the delivery system was the best.
Captain America
Steve Rogers
is a nazi now
He teased it on twitter:
twitter.com
He dies, gets reborn, and is a different race.
Honestly, the Hawks are the easiest folks to pull that off with.
>People go up in arms about Supes in MoS being a gloomy person.
>But when Cap becomes lolHydra, it's now acceptable
Marvelshills, everyone.
Rebirth was not a good comic, it was a desperate disjointed advertisement written by a hypocritical hack who is immediately abandoning the comics he supposedly loves so much.
he always trolls on twitter, it's probably a lie
cry more quesada
B8
Marvel did win though.
People are infinitely more pissed about the Captain America thing and it's getting more awareness than Rebirth is, just like Marvel wanted.
Will the sales for Rebirth be a killing?
Source.
I like the Marvel movies but I haven't touched any of their comics since for ever because they only have retards writing their stuff.
Don't get me wrong, Cap being HYDRA all along is scraping the bottom of the barrel as much as Watchmen being brought into the DC universe, but at least DC isn't spitting on their reader's faces.
Not him but i'm seeing normie facebook friends upset about it
People who don't read comics
>disjointed advertisement
While I did enjoy Rebirth, it did feel a bit weird having moments like the "Gotham" people who are highly likely just going to be antagonists for one or two Batman arcs and then forgotten.
>the day is ours
>Captain America is trending
yes
the complete trade comes out in August, I think
Yeah, because they want people to make him gay. Checkmate.
Today's been nuts. My phones been glued to my hand.
It's the Hydra thing and you know it, Mr. Damage Control.
this. These normies don't even read the actual Comics, they only care about MCU cap.
...
that's basically what he was in The Golden Age
>h-hey Carter nice ancient Egyptian costume you got there
AHAHHAAH
Great stuff keep it up DC, new 52 was all right but the Classics from the 90s are BACK, now let´s have fun! I wish Wally West would stay :-(
People aren't really accepting it though.
the movies is the only thing Marvel have going for it
Are you saying he was kings n shit?
this. once that dries up, (Phase 4 will wear it thin, because I don't think they'll ever recover from losing both RDJ and Evans) they're back to being non-factors.
