So why is this guy considered to be one of the major Avengers on par with Captain America and Thor? He just shoots arrows.

Moxie.

He shows up.

He's not. Only in movies really

Can you shoot arrows? Have you ever seen Cap or Thor shoot arrows with any skill? It's hard.

I want Sup Forums to leave.

And captain america is just a guy who has a special shield and martial arts skills(well, outside the movies, anyway). Avengers aren't exactly very picky when it comes to how useful people are.

>Loyalty
>Courage
>Determination
>Soul of the Team
>Appears in a great number of its iterations
>Even led the West Coast and Secret Avengers
>Arrows are cool

Take your pick.

He's basically an even better Bullseye, and keep in mind that Bullseye is one of the few people who can take down the Hulk in one strike. He's also been trained by Cap so he's easily one of Earth's top fighters despite not having any powers.

Why does everyone jump to Hawkeye as the "useless" Avenger and not Black Widow? At least Hawkeye has superhuman marksmanship.

Because Black Widow does have a superpower: she has a vagina

Hawkeye is poor and GAY.

Having an expert infiltrator on the team is at least theoretically useful(if something they hardly ever take advantage of) and it's something most of the team aren't very good at. Meanwhile, the team is full of people who can take on superpowered threats with one arm tied behind their back, so another combat-focused character who has to work hard just to function on a tier below most everyone else just isn't that impressive, even if he does have a somewhat niche specialization.

Hawkeye and Widow are both cool because of what their personalities add to the team.

Also people underestimating skill based heroes and what nasty gadgets can do in a fight.

Hawkeye especially is a stronger character WITHOUT overwhelming powers because it makes his sheer attitude that much more inexplicable.

>bullseye could take out hulk
????????

Having Black Widow fight on the front lines with the other Avengers is like having a doctor fight on the front lines with them.

So why is this guy considered to be one of the major Avengers on par with Captain America and Thor? He just wears armor

>Hawkeye and Widow are both cool because of what their personalities add to the team.
This. They're both former villains who are more aware of street-level stuff than any of the others. Because they don't have any powers they have to out-think their opponents as much as they out-fight them, i.e. Hawkeye using corrosive acid arrows on Iron Man, Black Widow always going for the sneaky rogue attack rather than a frontal-fight.

Saying that non-powered superheroes in a superhero team are useless is ridiculous. People don't say that Batman is useless because he doesn't have any powers compared to the rest of the JL. Major villains like Dark Seid or Ultron will always underestimate the members without any powers, and that's what non-powered characters are meant to take advantage of. New York's supervillains are more scared of the Punisher than Spider-Man because they know Frank won't just toss 'em in jail, he doesn't have to pull any punches unlike some characters with super strength do.

Because he's a playboy philanthropist

Because everyone can see she's a woman

I really miss Hawkeye constantly talking shit and bragging like he was the most powerful guy in the room.

Black Widow's a woman and therefore exempt from being seen as weak in any way. Plus it's the whole "archery is dumb lol" meme that somehow makes out that shooting exploding arrows is less useful than shooting two babby glocks.

You're worse than moviefags, Hawkeye's been a staple Avenger since the kooky quartet. He only fell out of prominence when Bendis took over

He's fun to have around, which the movies miss big time.

I like Ronin Clint

Because the team isn't supposed to just be whoever has the strongest power, different abilities work better in different situations, not every problem is solved by having super strength and flying.

Something a lot of people are forgetting is the power creep that happens with comics. Hawkeye is somewhat immune to this, so while Ironmans armors get more ridiculous or Captain America's peak human powers begin to resemble metahuman, Hawkeye can't keep up.

Back when the avengers were first formed he wasn't that far behind Ironman or even the Hulk, because they were a lot more tame power-wise back then.

He never misses.

>Back when the avengers were first formed he wasn't that far behind Ironman or even the Hulk, because they were a lot more tame power-wise back then.
t. someone who's never read a comic in their lives

Hulk was juggling elephants and Iron Man was fighting alien invasions single handedly when Hawkeye made his debut in the Avengers. Stan Lee talks about this in one of the documentaries they did about him. He said he put Hawkeye in the Avengers to have a more relatable character for readers.

Hulk juggling elephants is nothing compared to what he can do now a days.

...

Because he shoots arrows better than anyone else.

People are the same with Aquaman and Namor. Yes, on the surface, commanding the creatures of the sea by sheer will alone does seem fairly useless. But think of how many things are in the sea like bacteria, sharks, sperm whales and even all the otherworldly terrors that lurk below the rim of absolute blackness that is the farthest and most unexplored reaches of the sea.

I actually liked when Namor could imitate shit fish could do. It made him stand out from Aquaman.

Because he was in the original team. Being a founder always gives you privileged status even if you are mediocre.

Could Aquaman/Namor command Godzilla then? The surface world would be so fucked.

So why is this guy considered to be one of the major Justice League members on par with Superman and Wonder Woman? He just has a belt.

Hes rich.

His snarky comments are pointier than his arrows. You need a guy who wins combats verbally.

Captain America throws a metal Frisbee.

And runs at 60 mph, lifts a ton, and is a tactical genius. btw, his frisbee is indestructible and can literally parry any attack reducing the incoming force to zero.

No he wasn't.
The original team was Ironman, Thor, The Hulk, Ant-man and Wasp. Captain America wasn't even in the original team.

As for why he's treated as an equal, its because he pulls his weight. He's saved the team plenty of times and even led it. Also he is popular because of his lovable arsehole personality. In terms of raw power no ones equal to the Hulk or Thor, in terms of contributing to the team everyone's pretty useful.

>Even led the West Coast Team
Congratulations, Clint is barely a step above Night Thrasher.

I honestly forgot the Hulk was a founding member since he left the team immediately after and only rejoined when the movie came out

He's easy to forget, especially since the teams original purpose was to take him down so he was basically the villain for the first half of the first issue and then he left in the second. Still credit where its due I suppose...

This is an easy to answer question.
