Depends on how much of the trotting about the Pacific islands chatting with gods stuff has remained intact from the early art.

Given Disney's recent track record, it will probably be decent at worst.

I have no expectations beyond that, but I had no expectations for Zootopia, either.

...

HOL UP

THICC

My biggest disappointment is the lack of thicc-ness. I was hoping for at least Nani tier.

Subtle

Why is Roadhog not wearing his mask and why is junkrat suddenly turned in to Alejandra?

Doesn't have the artist who's really into thick women.

Also I think the Animation department spent all their load getting Giantess Fetish the Movie Green Lit.

>that loss reference

subtle

>that awesome lava deity

gee, CGI version will look so much better!

Piggy companion is a QT

>Doesn't have the artist who's really into thick women.

Chris Sanders will never work for Disney again after what they did to him over Bolt.

>looks more black than pacific islander

Can I have a irl comparison for reference?

Last thing I want is shitposters using the WE WUZ MOAI BUILDERS N SHIET

...

I remember years ago it was rumoured that they were going to try out that Paperman technique for this movie but then they decided to make it full CGI... The character models apart from the pig look so shit but everything else looks great. Trailer when?

>gee, CGI version will look so much better!

Actually, given Disney Animation's current CG track record, I expect it'll look pretty damn good.

I do lament the move away from 2D, though. The designs never have quite the same amount of uniqueness as they do in the concept art.

Least as long as Lasseter is in charge since he's the one that scrapped the original plan for Bolt.

>that model
>shit

come on man

Unfortunately, Googling for Hawaiian/Maori/Polynesian women gets you a lot of "Island Beauties" which aren't exactly representative of the populace any more than Miss America is representative of the U.S.

Pic related is what I feel they're going for.

>pig has a more attractive face than the grill

To be fair, American Dog looked like shit.

And, of course, this is supposed to take place in antiquity, a mythological age. So really, the best examples would be from early contact with Europeans...

ho, a non collar nick. byron loved colars, it almost costed it him a movie.

...

Music Group Disney had performing at D23

Really hope they stick to using them for the whole Soundtrack.

Absolutely agreed, but the point remains that he won't work for Disney because of it. Not that it matters; How to Train Your Dragon was better than anything Disney was putting out at the time.

Why? What happened with Bolt?

and that animal she holds up aint bad either.

had to be kiddified.

Basically, Sanders had this concept for a movie called American Dog which had some of the same plot elements (dog thinks he has powers) as Bolt does today. He was in development with the movie with Disney, slated to direct, when Lasseter stepped in and said, "Look, this isn't working. The movie's a mess. The plot doesn't make sense and it doesn't feel like a Disney product. Here's the changes you need to make." Which is what Lasseter does.

Sanders refused.

They bumped him off the movie, replaced him with directors who would listen to what they were told, and the movie became Bolt.

Also Croods.

It started of as American Dog with him being a straight up actor and getting dumped in the desert and having a Jackrabbit and Cat as companions while he makes it back.

Was going to be Traditionally animated. But that was trashed and the project Fast Tracked as they wanted Princess and the Frog to be Disney's big reintroduction to Traditional Animation.

vimeo.com/91895271

And then came the script changes and everything went downhill.

Here's a description of the movie that could have been, plus some early art. It's VERY Sanders, which is a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you feel about his art and stories.

lostmedia.wikia.com/wiki/American_Dog_(Incomplete_2007_Disney_Film)

Chris Sanders thinks Disney is too inflexible when it comes to the creative process and risk taking in story telling. He's been a critic since the late 80s and actually did a neat little critique known as the "Big Bear Aircraft Company."

Enjoy.

Not interested

>Chris Sanders thinks Disney is too inflexible when it comes to the creative process and risk taking in story telling

hes just salty his original pitch sucked dick

Sup Forums will only give this any attention because hurr muh brown gurl fetish. They'll talk about it for about a week or two and then move on.

>gee, CGI version will look so much better!
It literally will.

I'm at a loss for words.

O wow I thought it was fake but its true the chest tattoo is a well known meme

He's right. You still see that mentality in networks as with CBS kicking Supergirl out and passing on their Nancy Drew show because it would have made the network "too female" leaning and outside the demographic they are assured watches them (old grandpas)

its not actually.

piggy is the plot twist villain.

If this is australia or new zwaland they are right.

Oceania was the first land colonized Outside of africa

Same directors as Aladdin and Hercules

I just think it's cool they got the Rock. It's at least guaranteed to make it's money back now. Plus I actually like him so I am looking forward to seeing how he does in it.

I don't care, as long as there's porn of the big guy.

I've heard theories that some oceanic peoples (from the eastern parts) are actually decended from people from the Pacific Northwest

meant to quote

If they go with a "Trustworthy character is actually the villain" twist again they've gone too far.

didn't some major publication actually publish this edited version?

>What are your thoughts on Moana Sup Forums?
Outside of porn fanart, I really don't expect much.
Visually gorgeous, sure, same Disney brand of family friendly writing that served them well going on 90 years, right?

I'm sure there will be some clickbait fabricated controversy like Ghostbusters to bring all of Sup Forums together in a shitpost tsunami.

I always thought the best things of her.

Alan Tudyk is confirmed to be in the cast so probably.

>smacks lips

It's been said a million times, but I really prefer 2D animation from Disney. I know 3D probably is easier to produce and sells better, but something about the 3D animated Disney movies feels so empty. The stories are still fine, I just feel like the 90s and early 2000s Disney stuff is gorgeous and the newer stuff just doesn't really wow me anymore than something from the average Dreamworks movie.

I agree. I know Princess and the Frog gets swept under the rug a lot, but it has an endearing atmosphere that is directly tied to its animation. It adds a certain richness to the film that is ultimately lost in CG movies.

I have to disagree. I had more fun with Zootopia than any late 90s Disney movie.

Art of her fucking the pig when?

The fact whenever this movie comes up people use the edited picture for the OP fills me with glee.

I just noticed it. It's a stale meme, but that's pretty funny.

Are you implying I didn't know I used a edited picture? I'm sure me and many others purposely use that picture.

really?

He's saying he's glad you use the edited on

I'm implying that whenever i come across discussions about this movie, i forget about the comic edit and when i notice it in the OP image it gives me a chuckle.

God I wish Disney didn't have the same fucking teaser poster for their every new film.

Fuck you, you got me.
I keep thinking how lame that shit is and you fuckers always manage to get get, fuck you.

My mistake, I know loss is beaten to death but subtle versions still kill me.

I enjoyed it too, but it's story is what I enjoyed and not so much it's visuals. I'm speaking on a pure visual level here. I feel like Disney's storytelling is pretty much at the same level it's ever been currently other than them all having the exact same twist.

Ok, give me ~30 minutes

Am I reading John K.?

>All the stupid writers are poopyheads that are messing with my artist ubermensch genius! Stupid dumb "plot" guys messing with my genius visual script, they should have been completely marginalized in any right thinking company in favor of their obvious superiors, the artists!

>I know 3D probably is easier to produce
It's not easier to produce goddamn it, it's much harder and much much more expensive. Why do you think there are practically zero independent/small animators using 3D? Where did this meme come from? Why do people keep fucking spreading it?

People try to justify the switch to 3D and saying that it's because 2d does not make money hurts them. So they come up with that bullshit

I didn't know. That's why I said probably. I just assumed it was the case since that's the only type of animated movies that come out nowadays. It must be that it gets more asses in seats in that case.

...

It does, 3d costs more to produce but it makes so much more money than 2d that it is still more profitable to make a 3d movie.

>Tangled
Rapunzel cries over Finn's dead body and brings him back to life with magic
>Brave
Merida cries over her mother's dead bear body and brings her back to life as well as back to humanity through magic
>Frozen
Elsa cries over Anna's dead frozen (carlos.jpg) body and brings her back to life through magic

Okay Sup Forums. How is the big guy going to die and how will Moana's crying over his body bring him back?

WE WUZ MOAI BUILDERS N SHIET

i dont get it
ggfggge?
so, so, fa, so, so, so, mi?

It wasn't Elsa that brought Anna back, it was Anna that brought herself back. The act of true love was her jumping in the way to save Elsa at the risk of her own life.

What's Roadhog doing in muh Disney film?

More like La, dOh, So, So

It would help increase tourism in the Pacific.

u.pomf.is/uepmpg.png
I should have used concept sketches as ref not 3d, she looks more African than Polynesian... oh well.

I forgot this was coming out. Kinda thought it already had, actually.

I want to fuck that Moana.

They haven't started promoting it yet. Between Star Wars, Jungle Book, Civil War, Jungle Book, Black Panther announcements, Beauty and the Beast teasers, Finding Dory promotion, Queen of Katwe trailers and Dr. Strange set pictures, the only Moana related things I've seen are toys from Hasbro and a Movie Surfers about it.

Eh. Give them a couple of push up bras, hairstylist, and a little makeover and they could be pretty hot.

wew

There is gonna be cannibalism?

I'm at a loss, what will this movie be about?

There was also this.

Creators clashing with what the studio wants isn't exclusive to John K, and it's ruined a lot of media.

It drove half of Marvel's directors away. One even made a movie about it.

My only thought is there had better be some lewds of that delicious brown grill.

Lin Manuel Miranda is writing the score, so I'm cautiously optimistic, even though Hamilton is shit and only a cashgrab. But still, some songs from it go hard as fuck:

They made Maui into a monster!!

He is the hero of all Polynesians and not a fat ugly bastard!!!

Yeah, like a brick.

What a twat. Runs off all snippy about working for Marvel but then comes back for Iron Man 3 in an acting capacity and comes back to direct for Disney's Jungle Book. And all after his little pet project Cowboys vs Aliens fails to garner any interest.

Iwant to like it because polynesian stuff I find interesting, but it will probably be snarky and full of shit like "LOL we're about to do a cliche lets point it out but do it anyway." self awareness.

It will as accurate about Polynesia as they are about medieval Europe.
