I know I'm the minority with Ultron but honestly I left that movie feeling like it was everything I never thought a comic book movie would dare to be. When that city started flying I was just thinking 'holy fuck this really is a super hero comic come to life'
Right from the beginning with the Avengers tearing through Hydra mooks it established that tone too, it's weird to me that so few people were able to get on its wavelength.
Was it a bit of a mess at parts? Absolutely, but so is every other MCU film except Iron Man.
But that movie delivered in every way I always wanted a superhero movie to deliver.
What could be above Iron Man? I thought it was universally considered the best of the bunch

I know, I know. I just found the first Thor to be a bit boring. Thor 2 just barely edges it out because I liked Kurse and the itneractions between Loki and Thor. I think Thor 1 is objectively the better of the two though.

Eh, it was alright. My big issue with it is that it suffered from not having an interesting villain and there could have been more suited up Tony. The Mandarin twist wouldn't have been nearly as bad if the actual villain was cool, but Killian was really boring.

Thor 2 is widely seen as the worst MCU film. It has 2 good jokes and the rest is mediocre as fuck, I don't know why you would describe it as "humorous" unless you mean laughably bad.
Civil War is better than Avengers in almost every way. Avengers has boring Whedon direction and OOC Cap.
i believe that iron man 2 has some really great character moments that make the movie for me. I believe it's severely underrated. Could a used some more Gendy storyboards though
Yeah I think that was honestly the worst fight scenes I've ever seen in cape media aside from Jessica Jones
Captain America's first half is god tier but it totally lost focus after that and turned into a snooze fest.
Ant-Man had two good scenes, the miniature fight and the trippy subatomic adventure, the rest of the movie couldn't even be saved by Paul Rudds charm and that's saying something.
Thor might not be perfect but it had solid drama, a good character arc, some entertaining action and some nice humor. It's a solid movie.
Iron Man 2 is alright. Not nearly as good as the first but it's decent, I don't know why people shit on it so much. Rhodey was awesome in it and the final showdown is fun.
The villain is completely garbage though, no doubt about that.
Every ANTS scene is good.
Whedon does have tv level skills at directing actors but he either knows how to do a big action set piece or knows who to delegate to because both Avengers had some of the best group based action ive ever seen. It always felt like everyone was doing something and they were constantly connecting in interesting ways.
That hanger fight in Civil War had a bunch of great individual scenes but as a whole felt really disconnected and stilted.
Also at least Avengers 1 had the benefit of actual consequences. The Avengers exist now! Things are different! Each character got an arc!

Go back in time just ten years not a lot and tell people Iron Man vs Captain America will be a bigger movie than Batman v Superman and that goofy 40something nice guy comediac actor from Friends and who cameos in Judd Apatow movies will be one of the biggest and most critically acclaimed superheroes in the world, you'd get laughed off.

It was definitely a mess but I hear you. I look back and it's probably the most "comic book" MCU film we've had so far. It was so unapologetic of its roots for better or for worse. While I wouldn't rank it super high, it's definitely far from touching any of the lows for me.

It is actually rather great desu. To think of all the actors who have been brought to stardom status thanks to the MCU, specially Chris Evans post the trainwreck that were the FF movies, is great.
The guy is pretty down on himself too. He's a great actor. He plays a great human torch and cap, two completely different characters.

Iron Man is legit one of the best superheroe movies period let alone MCU movie. But agreed Cap First Avenger is criminally underrated. I loved it as a stand alone film and it works even better in hindsight as the first part of the triology.

GOTG is my favorite hands-down, I love cosmic stuff. Looking forward to v2 more than anything else right now.
All of Cap's movies are great. I love the first one especially for the retro sci-fi theme.
Iron Man 1 still holds up real well for me still. 3 was pretty fun as a standalone movie.
I like Avengers 2 more than the first overall.
