How will they depict channeling?

Book:
>Before thought she struck out, weaving a hammer-hard flow of Air to smash that face. In an instant the glow of saidar surrounded the other woman, her features change — somehow more regal now, prouder, Moghedien’s face remembered; and startled as well, surprised that she had not approached unsuspected — and Nynaeve’s flow was sliced razor clean. She staggered under the whiplash recoil, like a physical blow, and the Forsaken struck with a complex weave of Spirit streaked by Water and Air. Nynaeve had no idea what it was meant to do; frantically she tried to cut it as she had seen the other woman do, with a keen-edged weave of Spirit. For a heartbeat she felt love, devotion, worship for the magnificent woman who would deign to allow her to… The intricate weave parted, and Moghedien missed a step. A tinge remained in Nynaeve’s mind, like a fresh memory of wanting to obey, to grovel and please, what had happened at their first meeting all over again; it heated her rage. The knife-sharp shield that Egwene had used to still Amico Nagoyin sprang into being, more weapon than shield, lashed at Moghedien — and was blocked, woven Spirit straining against woven Spirit, just short of severing Moghedien from the Source forever. Again the Forsaken’s counterblow came, slashing like an axe, intended to cut Nynaeve off in the same way. Forever. Desperately Nynaeve blocked it.

TV:
>two women stare at each other and do not move

Lasers

First half of the series

The women in Wheel of Time are so terribly written. I'm not an SJW by any means but they really lack any depth. They are all just aspects of Rand, which kind of makes sense considering how everyone is kind of strung along due to the wheel of time but their relationships with men are terrible. Nynaeve's relationship with Lan was so offensive to me, it's just totally out of left field, not to mention out of character for Lan. Every woman in the show is shadowed by the their relationship with men.

Right! That felt so forced and paired them off cause everyone else was

>he's never had a sub gf who takes charge in public
Live a little, user.

>Sony's
The books were shit and sony is shit. Is it possible these things cancel each other out make the tv series great?

>two women stare at each other and do not move
probably this
very rarely they will cgi some actual effects to show the audience what it looks like but 99% of the time it will be two women staring at each other and maybe moving their arms

im re reading the books now and every women, ever single time she mentions men or interacts with men has to make a comment to themselves about how stupid/stubborn/annoying men are and then sniff.
its getting very annoying

I get that the main character were the guys so anytime a female character got solo time, it was just to help the Mc later on. Nevermind they could have been strong in their own right. Instead it was just a weird Charlie's angels situation

Magic = power. All the power in the world was ceded to women channelers when the DO tainted saidin.

This is literally how post-suffrage women perceive men in the current age of the patriarchy.

I think this series is a little too subtle for you to fully grasp.

it´s gonna be a sitcom about niggers

WoT already puts all human phenotypes, homelands, and vernacular into a blender and also presents a matriarchal society while also managing to have an all-white main cast and humiliating and degrading all women. Tricky adaptation to be sure. Can't chasten the mason

Idk why but I've always considered Rand and everyone around 18/19 yrs old in the end

Egwene seems cool. just read the chapter where she outsmarts the hall and brings them under her control. I think she's my favorite character

because thats pretty much the age they are. The whole story takes place over less than 3 years.
Books 9/10 covers like 3 days.

Dont worry Brandon Sanderson will ruin her for you.

>Perrin's axe attacks Faile
>it succeeds in its mission
Any other scenes which should be corrected in the TV show?

>All characters consult with Rand before taking action
>All plot lines neatly and simply solved
Seriously, 2/3rds of the conflict in the books could be solved if the characters would just talk to Rand about what is happening. This is especially true after the rediscovery of traveling makes it super fucking easy to do.

Closer to 23 I think. If I'm remembering correctly, the Aiel War took place about 20 years before Book 1 starts.

thats the guy working on it. he was a contestant on the 11th season of survivor before moving onto television writing somehow

>"After Survivor, Judkins moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in screenwriting. He was staffed on the short-lived Christian Slater drama, My Own Worst Enemy. After that, he was hired on the third season of Chuck.[2][3] His episodes included Chuck Versus the Tic Tac,[2] Chuck Versus the Honeymooners,[2] Chuck Versus the First Fight, Chuck Versus the Push Mix, and the first of half of the series finale Chuck Versus Sarah. After a stint on "Hemlock Grove" he began writing for Marvel's Agents of SHIELD.[4] On April 20, 2017, it was announced that Judkins would be writing and showrunning the television adapatation of The Wheel of Time.[5]"
>dat record

Hope is lost.

Maybe this is his big break, his first chance to really shine. Just kidding, we all know this isn't ever happening

75% of the books content is gonna get cut.

All good so long as they don't cut the lesbian sex and spanking.

Descriptions of dresses don't need screentime

That reads like Sonic fanfiction holy fuck.

>lesbian sex

shit. better leave now before something else gets spoiled. 11 books in and haven't seen this yet.

its extremely childish genre fiction. i honestly have no clue how anyone can enjoy these books. it confounds me that these books became popular at all, its possibly some of the most poorly written drivel i've ever seen

I find that people who care about Sonic enough so that it's embedded in their entire persona, even ironically, are usually not older than 18.

Not an argument. You have to go back.

>stop liking what I dont like

Go back to your mom's womb, it probably isn't too late.

Is The Eye of the World worth reading?

>drivel

le edgemaster

>Andor is in flames, Elayne is the daughter heir and Rand is doing all he can to keep the kingdom together so he can put her on the throne as the rightful heir before everything goes to shit
>sends Matt and an army to go safely escort her
>she tells Matt to fuck off so she can do some bullshit, and doesn't go to Andor to contact Rand even when she learns how to fucking teleport and lets her kingdom burn

is there a more despicable character?

Yes, in that it introduces you to the characters and the world. Though a lot of stuff is fleshed out more over the next couple of books, and will make more sense after you read them. In particular, the prologue of Eye of the World is difficult to understand in context until you have read 4 or 5 of the books.
Also, be prepared for Eye of the World to be Fellowship of the Ring, because it pretty much is. Robert Jordan admits it and intended it to be.

seeTalk to Rand, would fix so many problems

Probably my least favorite character tbqh

This is dumb. The characters are immature and set in their ways due to the nature of the world. Le talking to le rand is an infuriating fucking "solution" and I'm legitimately angry that you've posted this.

oh man I hadn't noticed that it was Sony
>awful, bumbling book series adapted by awful, bumbling publisher
there is hope that this becomes hilarious trashkino and not just an ugly utter borefest

Take for example the Masema situation. Perrin had 2 of the upper tier ashaman with him...at any time they could have grabbed Masema traveled to Rand. Then Rand could have properly dealt with Maseama and his bullshit. Instead, Perrin frets about it so long that Faile ends up killing him out of the blue, solely because the situation drug on way too long and it needed to wrap up before the big finish to the series. Talk to Rand, is a sensible solution.

I've only read New Spring (book 0? a prequel?) and it was pretty annoying.
The atmosphere was good, like how the sights and sounds of the city was described, and the magic shit was neat, but most the characters bugged the shit outta me.
Everyone is so far up thier own ass, ready to pull a knife or some shit if anyone dares to look at them the wrong way, its like they were right out of one of those angsty teenage animes or something.
Can't be any worse than Chronicles of Shannara though, so i'll probably give it a watch because fuck it why not.

New Spring is indeed a prequel, though generally not recommended as the place to start. If I remember correctly, it was written in between books 10 and 11. It largely assumes you are already familiar with the story and characters.

Rand is like 19 at the start of the series, so he'd be in his early 20s at the end. or however old Moridin was I guess

You're not supposed to start with A New Spring. It wouldn't really be interesting or make sense to you without knowing who the characters are. This is why you always read in published order.

Perrin caused so many problems in general. His solution to everything is just "wait and see".
>Masema starting a cult to worship my best friend?
>let's see how this pans out without us doing anything
>Aeil kidnapped by wife?
>better track her down and then wait and do nothing for 2 books
>I might be turning into a wolf?
>better ignore it and not ask for help

Elayne was just the worst. What got me is how she never learned anything. How many times did she walk into an ambush or get captured by Black Ajah in the series? 3? 4? You'd think after the first time she'd be more cautious, and after the second time would stop insisting on going into dangerous situations personally and without suitable protection. But nope. The best part is the last time she does it she's actually pregnant at the time too. She has a fucking legendary hero as a warder and she still waddles her pregnant ass into a trap because she doesn't trust anyone to do anything for her.

>Pillow Friends
You missed it.
Almost everyone in the white tower is in a lesbian releationship

What's more infuriating is how they constantly treat Moiraine like complete shit even though she's just Gandalf with tits and has done nothing but try to help Rand and save the world.

Nynaeve hates Moiraine for literally fucking nothing.

Not even close to everyone but it's common enough that it's just accepted as normal.

I don't think I can deal with those cunts again so count me out

keeping Asmodean alive

Egwene like the rest of the female characters suck. Moraine was the only decent one

> Nynaeve hates Moiraine for literally fucking nothing.

While that may be true in the bigger picture you have to remember Moiraine basically just steals some boys from here village at the start.

It is true thought that when she becomes Aes Sedai and starts to act like Moiraine herself she's still refuses to admit she was wrong.

>you have to remember Moiraine basically just steals some boys from here village at the start.
It's very quickly revealed to them all that had she not taken them from the village, they would've been killed or stolen by the big bad and the world would've been doomed.

How the fuck can Nynaeve be mad at her for that? Would she have preferred Moiraine just let them all die and the world end? It's like getting mad at a fireman for invading your personal space when he pulls you out of a burning building.

>Rand gets three girls pregnant
>constantly notes that they're insufferable
>Aes Sedai are literally the worst group on the planet
>At the end of the final battle Rand steals his main rival's body
>they all think he's dead and bury his old body
>then Rand walks into the sunset smoking his pipe leaving everyone behind
Jordon must have hated his wife

Nynaeve is a bitch, and thats how bitches are.
Furthermore she is a know-it-all bitch, which just makes things worse, since Moiraine is the physical proof that Nynaeve doesnt know everything not even close. Top that all off with Moiraine being pretty and you have a classic woman hate recipe. For bonus, you could include Lan being Moriane's warder since Lan gets Nynaeve wet.

the first time Rand hears Lews Therin's voice he takes over and the rest of the series is Rand screaming MUH ILLLYENA while he murders all the Aes Sedai

This sounds lame as fuck. Feels like the author knew it was lame and added in double the text to add flavor. There's still the taste of shit under the pastrami though.

That ending where Rand leaves everyone behind is GOAT. Thank god Sanderson didn't change it

This isn't HBO man, we're not even gonna get a mention of lesbianism.

On top of Dragonmount, Rand uses the choden kal to destroy the world. Instead of coming down from the mountain and becoming shitty Jesus.

Rand actually bodyjacked someone and abandoned all his friends at the end?

>his wives know or at least suspect he is still alive
>leaves anyway
GOAT

True Power is a hell of a drug

oops meant True Source

Nynaeve and Moiraine got off on the wrong foot and just never managed to bridge the enmity between them. Remember Nynaeve is super insecure about being the village Wisdom, everybody always says she's too young for it and is second guessing her so she's always being a hard ass out about everything to assert her authority. Then Moiraine traipses in looking prettier than her and with a natural regal bearing that puts her to shame and addresses her like a young girl, not realizing she was the Wisdom. Basically their relationship never recovered from that. The fact she then spirited the 3 boys out of the village only intensified her dislike, then fact the man she loved was bound to her as a warder, then the fact she was worming her way into Rand's confidences... it just goes on.

Also I have to say that on my second read of the series, Nynaeve became one of my favorite characters. She's just adorable. She seems all hard edges and prickly as a porcupine at first but when you see more sides of her later on you realize its basically all bluster. It puts her behavior in an entirely new light. She's like a tsundere anime character puffing herself up to cover how insecure she is. But at the end of the day, she's one of the most loyal and dependable friends Rand has. That's why he asked her to help him cleanse Saidin, that's why he trusted her even when he was in the grip of paranoid insanity.

He earned it man. All the shit he had to put up with. He got a new lease on life and he was gonna run with it. A true best end for him.

>Aes Sedai are literally the worst group on the planet
First time I read the books I hated the Seanchean because of how they treated channelers and the Aes Sedai in particular. Second time I realized Seanchean have the right idea.

Can easily CGI that shit up.

Why the fuck would he stay and deal with Aes Sedai bullshit. Unlike Matt, Perrin, and Lan Rand never became whipped. You can't really call Matt and Perrin his friends either

Male channelers were great though

Min, Cadsuane, and Moiraine were all pretty great.

Min was bitchy just like Elayne. Cadsuane was just a washed up old cunt who never did anything truly important

Yes but all his wives know he's still alive. Given all the flash-forwards in time we saw we also know that Aviendha must then sleep with Rand in his new body to have the twins. Which was probably what all the prophecy about her pregnancy being "odd" was all about.

posting this because reasons

It's the way it's gotta be though. Channelers have to be enslaved for a few centuries to learn humility before they can eventually rise to exalted status and begin the cycle anew, recreating the Age of Legends and becoming the "Servants of All" once again.

every Rand episode
>woah i'm so smart they'll never see this coming
>ARGHHHH how could this happen to me - help me strong womuns

Except Rand's ideas worked most of the time. What it's actually like is he's nagged at by half a dozen different women for months while he secretly plots and then does his own thing while they all screech at him like harpies and then his plan works and they sulk about it after. The only time Rand's plans don't really work is when a crucial step in the plan is getting a woman to do what he asks. At that point you know it's going to fail, 100%.

Cadsuane was there to finish what Moraine started...trying to get Rand pointed in the correct direction for his real task. It is debatable if she was successful or not, at least in the way she intended. However, she was quite important.

Male channelers were always great. In Lewis Therin's time they actually fought back and got their power source corrupted because the Aes Sedai didn't help. It was said that wouldn't have happened if the Aes Sedai pulled their weight

The Aes Sedai were worthless it was Rand alone who fixed his own mental illness.

> Cadsuane was just a washed up old cunt who never did anything truly important
> never did anything truly important
Wat?

She may not always have been likeable but she was certainly necessary.

>me on the right

Yes and Cadsuane had a lot to do with him realizing he needed to do something. Even if it was indirectly through bitching at him, it still pushed him to realize he needed to change.

Remember when the women went on a quest for a bowl for three books that ended up not mattering while Rand was going around building his power base, getting male channelers, and hunting down the forsaken

God that fucking bowl side plot. If not for Matt it wouldn't even be worth reading. In fact he could have just done the entire thing off-screen like Fail and Perrin's honeymoon in the Two Rivers and not really missed anything of substance. The only reason we were forced to endure that shit is because Matt was there, and even his charisma couldn't carry that whole side quest.

Women fucking love bowls user, they like to put their fruit in them.

dont forget once they actually have the bowl, they immediately exceed its limits and kind fuck up the world and one power for the next book.

>Aes Sedai constantly antagonize the Dragon Reborn even though he's needed
>Many attempts to capture and magically castrate him
>Rand is actually pretty competent and good at his job making you realize that the Aes Sedai were just jealous
I wanted Rand to go crazy and kill everyone

They got their power tainted and broke the world because they were too impatient to get help from women. They fucked up. Women also fucked up, and continued fucking up for 3000 years by mismanaging the world and being generally terrible at politics.

There was not enough Aes Sedai being humbled by Rand. Best feeling in the series was
>Kneel, or you will be knelt.

> they immediately exceed its limits and kind fuck up the world and one power for the next book

No they didn't. While the bowl plot line took waaaaaay too many books it was needed to stop the Dark One affecting the weather.

What fucked up the power in the part of the world was Aviendha unpicking the gate weave setting off the mini-nuke.

Bitching at him was basically the only method she had. If she sucked up to him he wouldn't take her seriously and could just brush her off, and she wasn't strong enough to make him do anything. So only thing she could do was act like a cunt to get him frustrated.

Why did Perrin have to become a whipped faggot. Both Matt and Perrin seemed to slowly lose their friendship with Rand. At least Matt still seemed like Rand's friend although they weren't as close as thet were but Perrin just did as his wife commanded and didn't treat Rand like his friend anymore

No dude, it was the bowl
From the wiki
>Within days the weather changed and winter began to set in. Because of this, the bowl was given to the Sea Folk. The aftereffects of using this bowl caused both saidin and saidar to become strange and lifelike, causing many weaves of the two halves to be distorted and jumpy. This is most noticeable near Ebou Dar. This effect was caused by stress due to the immense strength of the flows through the bowl. In the Age of Legends, the bowls were used with less of the Power since more bowls were in existence, giving each bowl a smaller area to cover rather than requiring weather manipulation across the entire world.

It is stated by Moridin, while watching Aviendha, that in the Age of Legends weather ter'angreal were used independently of the Power. He also states that the women of the Third Age had gained the ability to work the weather with the Power. Therefore it stands to reason that what they do with the Bowl of Winds is unique and new to even the Forsaken.

The huge use of Power also alerted the Seanchan. Sul'dams and their damane were dispatched to collar the women wielding the Power. However, they were all destroyed when Elayne Trakand failed to unweave her gateway properly and caused the weave to blow up, creating destruction of both sides of the gateway, and completely destroying the farm.

That's just how it goes. Your friend gets a girlfriend and she doesn't like you or the rest of your friends and she keeps him from hanging out. Then they get married and he disappears off the face of the earth.

Not true. The women stayed behind and tried to build an artifact that would enable them to fight against the Dark One. But as we saw in the series that artifact couldn't do that

And the male solution ultimately didn't work either. It nearly destroyed the world and the seal was imperfect. In order for anything great to happen men and women need to work together. When they do things separately everything gets fucked.
