What the fuck did capitalism do to China?

It was a based, fucked up place just 25 years ago and now it's all corporatist, money-money-money, super shill capitalist corrupt.

Capitalism ruins everything.

It made it incredibly wealthy and lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty, for one.

im not seeing a problem here

Meanwhile completely and utterly destroying their environment and polluting the planet into a smoggy fuck fest of a nation. A friend of mine went there back in June and he said China is awful, there's only a few places that are decent, the rest is 2nd-3rd world.

>Based
>Fucked up place

>Australians in charge of English

I'm surprised some of the buildings are still there

this
/thread/

2.5 million Chinese die each year just because of fucking smog.

China is basically dying a slow, turbo-capitalist death right now.

China is proof that when given the choice between "mah culture, traditions, and form of government" and "I actually have money now, and there are things to spend it on that would make me happy" people will always pick "yes Id like to have nice things"

In short, everything Sup Forums wants, the rest of the world would sell its soul for (outside of the racism. Racism has been present since one caveman had fire and another wanted fire) Everyone, even the lowliest rice farmer overwhelmingly wants to be "degenerate" according to Sup Forums

>mah smog

don't you have a criminal to go elect bro?

yeah that's a photograph from 1900/1910 you faggot OP

FPBP

The environment has been fucked. I went to Beijing in 2002 to study environmental engineering and the university we stayed at had a river or raw sewage running through it.

There clean coal technology has made massive improvements. At least we get to see what happens there first so we know what could potentially come here.

China has no concern for human life to be honest. 2.5 million out of 1+ Billion population is peanuts. Its not even on the radar of things to worry about

first fire masterrace. if you can't trace your heritage back to the original Pyro cave men you are not white.

>China is awful, there's only a few places that are decent, the rest is 2nd-3rd world.
And the whole thing used to be a 3rd world shithole before.

>yeah that's a photograph from 1900/1910 you faggot OP
Nope, it's actually 1990 - not even kidding.

If China doesn't fix their shit by 2025 then it'll be too late. I know the past year or so they've been shutting thousands of coal plants to help curb the pollution, but that's nowhere near enough, they need to go into overdrive and literally create strict laws to ensure clean energy takes a foothold in China. Clean up your fucking shit or go extinct, the choice is yours.

If it was a picture from 1900 there would be nothing there except single story wood buildings and traditional Chinese buildings.

China didnt become "modern" until well after WW2

That feel when I want to Hong Kong all the mainlanders were taking pics of me.

This. Life is a number for them. Casualties are a number. It has no further meaning.

Isn't Hong Kong supposed to be pretty based compared to the rest of China?

Yeah and only because it was dominated as an English colony.

Another example of how Britain made its contribution to the world (no sarcasm).

>literally create strict laws
HAHA, China enforcing any laws, that is a good one.

Except China has only been humming along at the rate it has been because it gives zero fucks. With their economy slowing to a crawl any kind of environmental regulations (which no one inside the country really cares about much) would eliminate any edge China has on the world. Their economy would crater within months if their factories couldnt just pump waste into rivers, and mining companies could not literally dump radioactive waste down the opposite side of the mountain from its mining village. Seriously, those are the environmental regulations they currently have. Mine on top of mountain, village below mine on one side... just dump everything on the other side. We dont have to worry about it until the valley on the other side fills up

Forgot the pic. China's largest city at the time circa 1910

And in the process millions more have not died by diseases prevented by their newfound access to medicine

Then humanity is fucked. It's game over for us.

Pretty soon mother nature will kick us off this planet whether we want to or not. We're going to fuck up the ecosystem so much that wild life will start dying off in masses, the sea life will perish and forests will be almost nonexistent. China is literally cancer rotting away this planet and it needs to be stopped. Capitalism has an evil side to it.

>capitalism
Trade deals literally syphoned wealth from America to build China

Globalism means that the chinks now have a middle class (because they took all the manufacturing and industry jobs) while first world countries are left with cheap, plastic products made in China, a non-existent middle class and stagnant salaries and growth.

Wasn't it a good trade?

>Trade deals literally syphoned wealth from America to build China
It is the other way around. China was built on exporting shit to Europe and America - thus basically trading goods against foreign fiat currency. That foreign fiat currency was then used to buy machines built in Europe and America to use in China to make more goods for Europe and America.

We should just lower our tax rates and the jobs will come back.

>pol realizing the degeneracy of late capitalism

Get out you fucking commie.

>It was based
>Was literally the worst country to live in
>Literally one of the worst third world countries
>More starving people than all of Africa

China's completely fucked their environment and they won't last much longer without going into a state of emergency over their pollution but quality of life has increased be 10 times if not more. Literally 400 million people have been moved out of starvation and abject poverty thanks to Chinese economic growth.

>T. I am average Sup Forums user
T. I do not understand economies of scale
T. I do not understand that a single nation should produce literally everything it consumes, else it would collapse under its own non productivity

Do you think Portugal should go back to the days of making ALL it's own clothing from farming all of its own silk, and weaving it all on its own? just to clothe your nation it would take huge swathes of your work force, not to mention literally every other shit tier industry that has been moved to the third world because it would be so incredibly unfeasible to run in a developed nation unless you wanted to pay people a dollar a day to do.

Hello, friendly commie-bro. We need the revolution soon. We can't go on like this. With the revolution, all sandpeople will leave us again for the Middle East and all negroes will say "wtf, I have to work for gibmees?" and leave too.

>Literally 400 million people have been moved out of starvation and abject poverty thanks to Chinese economic growth.
Buying into Chinese government propaganda.

WTF are you doing?

>We should just lower our tax rates and the jobs will come back.

That won't happen. We've been lowering corporate taxes, yet our full time employment rates still haven't recovered to the levels before the 2008 financial crisis.

Dude China is not a capitalist society. It is really a hybrid between socialism and capitalism. The government really has control over what goes on in china.

Look at Ireland compared to France. The French are retarded and their tax rates scare away business they just have useless niggers on welfare. Ireland is booming because they stay competitive. This is what the governments don't want you to know : They're not helping anything.
Flat corporation tax 10% you won't have to worry about welfare niggers any longer.

>>I-i-i-it's just muh propaganda

>Not an arguement
wtf are you doing?

This

Then lower them again. Lower the personal tax rate.

Lowering personal tax rates doesn't effect employment, you retard.

>Literally one Google Search
economist.com/news/leaders/21578665-nearly-1-billion-people-have-been-taken-out-extreme-poverty-20-years-world-should-aim

Look, it even shows a bias Sup Forums would approve of
>T. Get the fuck out Commie shills

Yes and no. Jobs will come back slowly. Slowly as in not in our lifetimes, or the lifetimes of our children. You dont reverse 60 years of damage in 10 or 15. Drop your tax rates and maybe some manufacturing will return over the next 100 years. Drop your environmental regulations and it comes back much faster but still not over night

>Ireland is booming because they stay competitive.
We bailed them out just a few years ago. They are booming now because we bailed them out like Greece.

China has horrible housing. And the pollution is so bad. I actually think their plan is to get filthy rich, then start reversing all of their problems. Pollution, their water problems, and their housing/infrastructure.

>The government really has control over what goes on in china.

The government has pretty much zero control over what's going on in business in China. It is a corrupt, laissez-faire capitalist hellhole.

The Chinese central command is trying to steer the economy through brute force state owned banks and fiscal stimulus as well as currency manipulation, all of which have stopped working, reducing Chinese growth and leading to shit like the massive steel price plunge due to overproduction. Chinese funds are currently desperately buying up any asset they can get a hold on in Europe - as a way to hedge their bets against the complete collapse of China.

>2010

A lot of new buildings have popped out since then...

Which is exactly why America needs to be worried. The guys are going to surpass us so quickly with their economy, their military is going to be better, their living conditions are going to be better, and we're going to be cucked by them, much more than we are now, we're going to be fucked if we don't change.

Technology and greed will be the end of humans.

>>They're booming because we bailed them out
>>Look at Greece
>Greece isn't booming because they have fucking retarded near-commie government that's jacked up tax rates so high they're literally not competitive

No, you retard, you bailed them out because they had a failing economy, same with the Greeks. After the bailout Ireland lowered taxes and attempted (succeeded) to bring back industry, whereas the Greeks just sat on their thumbs as usual and blamed the Germans.

>After the bailout Ireland lowered taxes
The tax rates in Ireland are higher now than before 2008. The 12.5% corporate income tax has been that way for quite some time now.

Agreed on the Greeks, they are just gibmees negroes like Turks.

Yeah I bet we'd all love to go back to lean-to shacks and hand farming enough wheat through the year to make five loaves of bread and your wife dies during childbirth for the tenth time, your village is getting smaller by the day and some crazy dude with an ax came out of the forest and killed your three and only alive sons but you gotta just keep farming because if you don't you'll fucking starve and freeze during the winter.

Yeah technology is the fucking end of human beings, fucking kill yourself you mongrel.

Note that they only raised them after industry began succeeding, also much of the taxes collected from industries are used to support weaker ones in Ireland.

Keep in mind they have to directly compete with the U.K, which has far more and already establish industries and a massive domestic market. It's like how Canada has to compete with the U.S in basically anything non-commodity related. It's why we no longer have any huge outstanding industries except in heavy industry and manufacturing. Also our government is fucking retarded.

The environment was fucked before that already, it's actually gotten better.

Been to Datong (a coal mining town) in the 90s and you could scrape soot of the windows every morning. People couldn't hang laundry up outside because it'd just turn black. Went back in 2014 and it's much better, the smog levels are still in the red most of the time, but it's not turning windows black anymore.

That is a side effect of government.

The Communist Party looks the other way, you can have restraints on capitalism but they lack those restraints because they are a Democrat-style single party.

The only saving grace the US has is its military. China is in effect using pirated military plans and things it bought cheaply. China even though it is huge is using barely Korean War level military tech. Sure they have a new patched together fighter jet that may or may not have stealth capabilities.... but they have 30 of them. The other 5000 jets they have are 45 year old Soviet made trash cans with wings. You see their parades and everyone has modern Chinese made rifles, except thats the only unit that has them. The rest of the 9 million soldiers are issued Chinese knock offs of 80 year old Russian SKS's.

The Chinese military is only scary because its big, and any war with China would require a return to Total War of the past. A war with China would require the killing of 30-50 million people per year and I dont think the snowflakes of today can even comprehend the necessity of carpet bombing cities with 10-15 million women and children in them

Gotta say though, this looks way more comfy than faceless skyscraper cities.

The EU is already gearing up to lower corporate income tax across the whole single market. Corporate income tax is a meme anyway, it doesn't take much in and it is shit hell to administer. Better to not tax corporations at all.

They count people making more than $1 a day as being "out of poverty" for the sake of making their statistics look good.

The ones over here are doing great

a little too great

WTF I ALREADY READ THAT BEFORE!!!
DEJAVU WTFFFFFFFF

>china
>capitalist

Top kek

That's very true, in the exception of the U.S corporate tax overall is a fucking terrible idea. Especially when your industrial competitor (the U.S for any developed economy) is so fucking huge that any advantage you can give to your industries helps THAT much more.

>It's communist in name so it must be true

That's true, it's shit now. But that won't be the case in the next 15 or 30 years with the mount of money they're making. They're going to have better colleges, better technology, and a better military the the U.S. in the future. America will fall behind if we stay on this course.

how was your trip on a raft to Australia, Ling?

Capitalism has done to China what it has done to the West decades ago - values and morals do not exist or at best subservient to the mighty Dollar, there is no such thing as country, race, religion, its all social constructs and everything revolves around bringing in more shekels for immediate spending on worthless shit. Now everybody is willing to step on each others balls for money money money and while we fight over scraps like starving rats the globalists are watching from above and laughing.

>It's not communism so it must be capitalism

>better colleges
This will only apply to the major important cities like Suzhou or Shanghai, the countryside and 2nd and 3rd tier cities will lag behind as usual.
>better technology
Again, only in some places.
>better military
Not sure if they can fit out their entire army unless they increase budget quite a bit.

The chinks are a very practical people. They saw what was working and went there.

What makes me laugh now is the old notion of mysterious spiritual Orient.

As if. These people are pragmatic materialists down to their bones.

Thorium Nuclear Reactors
both clean, and nuclear

It was the best thing that happened to them in the last centuries. There was nothing wrong with what they did. Only capitalism can save us.

That was supposed to happen to america but then the companies sold out.

You are somewhat right, but before the industrial revolution and capitalism replacing all other forms of motives (race, religion, even art and literature) only 10% of the population enjoyed living standards decent enough to care about moral values.

Most of us would not survive a year in a pre-industrial society.

They have a very long way to go before they can even hope to match a single part of the US military. Maybe if they increase military spending 20x what it is now, they can have a navy that could stand its own against the Pacific Fleet in another 30 years... they still need the air force, and a functioning Army.

The flip side of that is the US can not lessen its military spending. I know I know "but mah military industrial kike plex thing I heard about. The war machine is only good for the jeeeeews"

China's human wave attacks are only effective when the 50,000 soldiers running at you ARENT running into a solid wall of bullets from MetalStorm. Their ships are only new when they arent being hit by kinetic shells launched from Naval Rail Guns, etc

You get the idea. Militarily Russia is a much larger threat than China. As long as China cant walk to your country, you are pretty ok.

You can't blame it all on China. We're all guilty. Nobody is paying attention and nobody has a viable plan. Viable plans take money. Money won't matter when we're extinct but you can't teach that to people who know nothing else.

wtf I hate capitalism now

Uncontrolled Capitalism is bad but it isn't the only thing that ruined China.
Mao's regime of Communism killed millions of his own people and destroyed thousands of years of culture and traditions, one of them being the concept of hierarchy because marxists hate "inequality". After Chinese were deracinated and devoid of any identity, they turned to Capitalism which bred a new generation of greedy, power hungry Chinese whose only goal in life now is to accumulate money.
So it's a combination of Communism and Capitalism that ruined China and Chinese people.

There is nothing clean about thorium nuclear reactors.

Is that why the MSRE was shut down and it took 40 years and hundreds of millions of dollars in decommissioning and clean-up costs for a meager 7MW plant?

But it doesn't matter when 3 of their fucking largest cities is the goddamn population of Germany
>Guangzhou urban area: 45 million
>Shanghai: 38 million
>Beijing: 35 million
Do you see the problem now? Even if ONLY three, of their 20 largest cities are first world and are producing at a fully industrialized nation rate, they are still outproducing Japan or Germany ALONE. If even 3-5 provinces of China fully industrialize to the point of competing with the States

Lets say JUST guandong (Province right above Hong Kong and Macau), Jiangsu, and Hebei along with the municipalities of Shanghai Tianjin and Beijing.

That's in total 278.51 million people. If we assume even a conservative GDP/capita (GDP/capita in cities usually exceeds 2x the national average in first world nations, but lets low ball it because this is 2020 China not 2050) that's $14 trillion USD in just three provinces with three major cities.

Do you see the problem of judging China alone now? When three provinces by 2020 will basically outproduce all of Europe?

The harder one is trying fight entropy, the harder one is going to be bitchslapped by it. We live in an ironic universe.

>I

WTF are you even talking about? China in total doesn't even get close to the GDP in either the EU or the US. How should 3 provinces get there by 2020?

and non-existant

based =\= fucked up

It was a very liberal estimate, you're completely right by 2020 those 3 provinces won't reach 70% of US economic output but they will come close, and the more the U.S hands over their developed industries to the Chinese, the faster this process is.

economist.com/blogs/graphicdetail/2014/08/chinese-and-american-gdp-forecasts

It's also worth pointing out pic related, their domestic markets are already much larger than the States. Which is how the States got so powerful to begin with, 300 million consumers that buy their industries goods first. With China exporting to ALL of Europe, the America's and themselves by 2050 those three provinces will be the size of the 2016 U.S economy.

What social programs does the Chinese government oversee again? Granting favors to citizens based on communist party standing doesn't count.

China is what it is like for a country is ran like a corporation.

It's not exactly capitalism's fault China gives zero fucks about the environment

isn't singapore the same (as in: completely wiped out all the historical buildings)?

Eventually China will expand and begin to take over territories of Russia. There's already a lot of Chinese living in Far East. They will then annex large portions of Russia, including oil rich Siberia and truly become the absolute second superpower.

They can already defeat Russia's army, but for now, they get better results by pretending to be allied with them.

Bullshit, they're going to send their billion extra people to go colonize Africa. Then the environment in mainland China can heal itself.

>They can already defeat Russia's army
Not a chance, in an invasion scenario the DoD says the U.S army has very little chance to successfully defeat the Russian army and even if they did it would be at such a cost it's not viable.

We're talking the U,S loses
>ALL EWACS (VERY BAD)
>Basically any plane they fly over Russia (No air superiority
>unable to effectively use sea power, because Russian far East doesn't matter if you have ships or not, and in the west both navy's would be shredded

So now it comes down to a ground battle
>Russian army is the same size as the Americans
>U.S logistics are better but Russia has the home field advantage
>Russian armor is vastly superior and outnumbers American armor 3 to 1
>Russian field artillery outnumbers the U.S 3 to 1

The Russians would never be able to win an invasion AGAINST another high powered military barring Europe, because they're shit tier but if you think the U,S military has a chance to win against Russia without losing literally everything then you're completely delusional

>Muh full spectrum dominance meme

**>AWACS

You do know that GDP PPP is completely irrelevant when comparing economic might and is just used to compare living standards, right?

yeah, all these millionaires don't actually exist in china

P-Pinochet? Can you hear us? Move this candle if you can hear us

Tell that to the literally 10s of millions of people who have been lifted out of poverty in China due to capitalism.

But yea, it's really awful you can't have your oh-so-quaint postcard skylines.

PPP has nothing to do with living standards it's literally used to compare sizes of domestic markets of countries because GDP is shit at that because of its inerrant flaws with using ONLY the USD to measure GDP and, if you'll notice, not every country uses the USD. In fact very few countries do.

GDP is also not "economic might" it's just the total market capitalization of the market. Economic might is completely different.
