Red Star was the sign of the Red Army. It was brought back into Russian armed forces a few years ago.
Here it's generally seen as sign of antifascist resistance during WWII (communists played a crucial roke in our partisan movement). And of course, Red Army liberated Czechslovakia from German occupation.
