How did David manage to infiltrate a civilizations home planet with bio-weapons so easily?

How did David manage to infiltrate a civilizations home planet with bio-weapons so easily?

Why didn't the Engineers have any sort of advanced defense systems?

How come the Engineers home planet looked like a Roman-technology-tier city?

Why are people saying that David wiped out the engineers when its been shown that they've colonized and created installations out of other planets, IE Prometheus?

Are we to assume that a civilization which has been colonizing the known universe for likely millions of years is going to be defeated by a single android that had its shit pushed in, in Prometheus?

Can we assume that the Engineers will return in the sequel, since that's the only logical explanation for how the set-up to Alien will ever actually occur even though the engineer in that ship was millennia's old which discounts the fact that David was the first to have created them?

>How come the Engineers home planet looked like a Roman-technology-tier city?

Because it's aesthetic.

The movie was written as a 2deep4u way to bridge it Prometheus to Alien. Prometheus was re-written so many times that the plot is nonsensical no matter your suspension of disbelief.

My theory is that those are black engineers (hence underdeveloped technology), but we cant see it because they are albinos

no, its the laziest go-to scifi cliche
its like a bad star trek episode

>
Can we assume that the Engineers will return in the sequel, since that's the only logical explanation for how the set-up to Alien will ever actually occur
yes.

The sequel is an Alien remake

In the movie Predator 2, Danny Glover sees a xenomorph skeleton on the predator ship.

How the fuck did David transport xenomorphs back in time to los angeles in the year 1997

Is that real? That's pretty neat,

>no, its the laziest go-to scifi cliche
No, I mean being tall, muscular, and white is the highest pinnacle of aesthetic perfection, and a race of aliens who have mastered bio-engineering can shape themselves to all look exactly like that.

Would have been a lot further back then that. One of the Predators tosses Glover a pistol from the late 1800's or some shit.

yes

Arguably their society was in decline like Rome? Or they were modest and not expansionist like the humans which is why they decided to kill us.

>they were modest
>not expansionist like humans
>the planet they were in cryo-sleep on was a military installation

They didn't colonize earth dude, they used it to spread life. Once they realized humans were a fucking cancer they decided to Black Goo us out

>Predator 2
>canon

Why do people keep bringing up AvP, Predator 2 and Aliens when the only thing Scott considers canon is Alien and Prometheus?

didn't know the Romans had spaceships.

>history is linear

Scott's opinion means jack shit, considering that fox owns the IP

>Ridley what are you doing? Don't you remember the aliens have a queen that lays eggs?

>ITS NOT CANON BECAUSE I DIDNT MAKE IT REEEEEEE

>Scott considers

yes op the engineers only went to earth, the planet in prometheus and their home planet, that was all of them lol

There's a reason why the Engineers never finished what they started when they tried to destroy Earth with the black goo.

The black goo plague they unleashed on LV-223 spread to the entire Engineer civilization. They almost died out and the survivors lost all their technological know-how.

They built a primitive city around one of their ancient space docks hoping to find some of their brothers from other planets. David came instead and wiped the rest out.

FOX has give Scott's senile ass complete control over this franchise. His opinion carries more weight than some anons on a Taiwanese water polo aficionados image board.

The romans built a giant empire. It's logical to assume they would not be limited to one planet.

prometheus was pretty good desu, but covenant was disappointing. it's like there was an active effort to make it as uninteresting as possible

is there any hope for the next film, my bros?

Is this post underrated?

thats what they want you to think

It's not their homeplanet you dingus.

I think the entire point was that the engineers were a failed civilization

these engineers were surprised as fuck to see a working ship they obviously lost the tech long ago

Did you not see how terribly retarded Prometheus and Covenant were? It's not what I think, it's the reality we live in.

>How did David manage to infiltrate a civilizations home planet with bio-weapons so easily?
>Why didn't the Engineers have any sort of advanced defense systems?

maybe because that wasnt the engineers? They all gathered happy to see the ship, like if their gods are returned.

>these engineers were surprised as fuck to see a working ship they obviously lost the tech long ago

Then why the fuck did they have a fully functioning spacedock / port thingy hovering above the center of their city?

>How did David manage to infiltrate a civilizations home planet with bio-weapons so easily?
It's clearly not. The white dudes he killed clearly aren't the same race as the proper Engineers.
>Why didn't the Engineers have any sort of advanced defense systems?
Because they're probably some slave race
>How come the Engineers home planet looked like a Roman-technology-tier city?
Because they're probably some slave race
>Why are people saying that David wiped out the engineers when its been shown that they've colonized and created installations out of other planets, IE Prometheus?
Because they're even more retarded than you?
>Are we to assume that a civilization which has been colonizing the known universe for likely millions of years is going to be defeated by a single android that had its shit pushed in, in Prometheus?
No
>Can we assume that the Engineers will return in the sequel, since that's the only logical explanation for how the set-up to Alien will ever actually occur even though the engineer in that ship was millennia's old which discounts the fact that David was the first to have created them?
Yasss. I swear though, if they make David a fucking time traveller who created the Engineers from the humans and thus some stupid paradox bullshit, I'm going to be pissed.

It was the last remaining working space dock from their previous civilization. They built around it hoping to find other survivors from their other worlds, but David came instead.

None of this makes any sense, Scott obviously doesnt even remember the details in Alien and Prometheus, the engineer in Alien is way older than David, and in Prometheus we see a mural of a xenomoprh so unless time travel is involved there is no way David invented the xenomorph.

As stand alone movies though, Alien is obviously good, Prometheus is retarded but has nice visuals, covenant is just ok (great performance by Fass in both).

But attempting to make a connection between the 3(not even gonna mention the others cause Scott doesnt consider them canon) is pointless cause all three of this senile fuck's movies contradict each other. He just cant into prequels.

>The black goo plague they unleashed on LV-223 spread to the entire Engineer civilization

How could a terrestrial-based bio weapon spread on a galactic scale when decades have passed and humans have absolutely no knowledge of it?

How come it didn't spread to earth and wipe us out?

How did they just "lose" their technological know-how when they have ways to engineer their own bodies thus increasing their efficiency and ability?

How come none of what you said was explained or even referenced in the films?

How come Scott Ridley literally stated that the hologram projection in Prometheus was depicting a battle between warring Engineers and that the Engineers were in conflict with each other and your "black goo" explanation has no basis in the films or from Scott's own opinion?

He said the hologram was a war between engineers????

>Because they're probably some slave race
>Because they're even more retarded than you?

If I'm retarded, then how come you're the inbred retard that basis his entire argument and explanation on the "probable assumption" that it's not the Engineers?

The ionic storm is a strong hint that it was a refugee planet and they were hiding there from something.

Do we know 100% that is is the Engineers' home planet, or did David just say "I'll take you to their home planet", while it was just another planet that he knew the Engineers lived on?

David is an unreliable narrator, as you know.

That planet was just another engineer experiment, just like Earth. Those weren't engineers. They are a sub-species created by the engineers for some unknown purpose like humans.

If david wanted living hosts to experiment on, then why did he kill literally everybody on the entire planet except for elizabeth shaw?

There's no evidence of this. Shaw clearly said they were going to the engineer homeworld at the end of Prometheus

Look at them. They're clearly not the same race. Their skin isn't translucent at all. Unless they just cheaped out in production, there's not reason these two things would be the same species unless the new ones are just tanned or something?

The black goo turns intelligent life forms into zombies slowly as seen in Prometheus.

An infected Engineer didn't know he was infected, flew to their homeworld, became a zombie along the way and the ship auto-docked. The the process kept repeating until the Engineers were all dead.

Because you're gay.

The mural isn't necessarily meant to be the xeno. At the end of Prometheus and throughout Covenant you see that xeno-like mutations are a common effect of the black stuff on living things, even before David ever gets his hands on it. All Covenant insinuates is that his xenomorph is created to be better than the average thing that the goo shits out.

So this mural is really just showing that the effects of the weapon were clearly understood to the beings that produced it.

It's a shit use of artistic license on the changing design and behavior of the alien throughout the series, but it isn't nonsensical.

They probably wiped out every engineer planet, and that one was just the last one

He also considers James Cameron's Queen canon.

It's just Ridley Scott being a lazy hack.

It was a britain space colony, abandoned after space exploration fund cuts.

>there's not reason these two things would be the same species
back to Sup Forums you. clearly these are the engineer kangs and the evil earth engineer was their slave

>How did David manage to infiltrate a civilizations home planet with bio-weapons so easily?
He didn't

>Why didn't the Engineers have any sort of advanced defense systems?
They probably did/do

>How come the Engineers home planet looked like a Roman-technology-tier city?
That wasn't their home planet

>Why are people saying that David wiped out the engineers when its been shown that they've colonized and created installations out of other planets, IE Prometheus?
You tell me

>Are we to assume that a civilization which has been colonizing the known universe for likely millions of years is going to be defeated by a single android that had its shit pushed in, in Prometheus?
No

>Can we assume that the Engineers will return in the sequel, since that's the only logical explanation for how the set-up to Alien will ever actually occur even though the engineer in that ship was millennia's old which discounts the fact that David was the first to have created them?
Probably yes

Here is a theory.

They aren't exactly the same race, but that is the engineer homeworld. The engineers as we know them are not examples of ordinary members of their race. They are some kind of elite caste. Engineers are members of their race that have mastered the manipulation of organic matter, and they used this knowledge to alter themselves. Which is why they look different. They kept this knowledge from the general population and ruled over them as gods.

The engineers left their planet to test their pathogen on humans long ago but didn't return to their people. When the ship returned to the planet they thought their gods had come back to them, and that's why they were so joyous.

Do white people have translucent skin? No, the difference is melanin. Even the palest white people don't have translucent skin. You need a different skin cell structure for that.

He said he created the perfect organism, why the fuck would he give it that convoluted life cycle of queen(?) into egg into facehugger into chestburst when the neomoprh just spreads through spores and is ready to kill within an hour. Isnt the neomorph strictly better?

>The black goo turns intelligent life forms into zombies slowly as seen in Prometheus.

But the very first scene of Promtheus involves black goo killing an Engineer in seconds.

>David was the first to have created them?

I still dont think David created them, I think the virus that the engineers created would eventually evolve into the xenomorph regardless of David's intentions but because it consumed enough human-like creatures.

For all we know the virus itself wasnt the weapon but a way to create a weapon, the engineers bred humans in Earth so they could then use the virus to create the real weapon that was the xenomorph and if the Alien vs Predator is canon then its possible the xenomorph was created elsewhere and sold to Predators to hunt and Earth was, instead of its origin, meant to be one of countless xenomorph breeding grounds.

you're the one making an assumption based on nothing. they don't look engineers, and them being engineers wouldn't make any sense. not only are you making that huge assumption, you're making it based on absolutely nothing, and in the face of pretty significant information to the contrary

>The only thing Scott considers canon is Alien and Prometheus?

Do we really want this? He has pretty much become the new George Lucas at this point.

That just boils down to the difficulty in making a variety of extras look like the Engineer's poster boy.

Ridley has already proved himself inept in replicating the groundwork he laid down in previous films.

Maybe because the black spore stuff would burn itself out before spreading? The xeno cycle is both more independent and takes longer. Since it takes longer it can spread further.

Because facehuggers, Xenomorphs and queens are all capable of much greater autonomy in spreading and adapting than simple spores.

what will david do with the humans on the covenant?

Then why did he just retcon queens out of the canon by making David the creator of the aliens?

>That just boils down to the difficulty in making a variety of extras look like the Engineer's poster boy.
Nah, it's easy enough to make them look semi-translucent.

Holloway only had a drop of goo and it slowly turned him into a zombie or was just gonna kill him. The Engineer drank a large amount of it. That might be the difference.

The geologist guy that actually turned into a zombie seemed to just fall in a puddle of it.

The effects seem random depending on what the writer wants to happen.

>They're clearly not the same race.
Are they the same race as the engineers that fuse their bodies into their own cockpit with a feeding tube?

I think you're on the right track with the "slave race" thing though.

There's clearly some kind of caste system, and they are shaping their bodies to fit the job they were born for.

The warrior caste is taller, stronger, and they have the skeletal bio suits.

The slaves we see in Covenant are clearly much shorter.

Experiment on them to grow a perfect Xeno

>prometheus was pretty good

he already did that

Use them for his experiments. Slowly improving his creations until he arrives at the perfect being, the xenomorph.

Turn them into engineers, go back in time, and populate the Engineer race :). I mean the Engineers are clearly engineered for space travel
>light pale skin
>eyes that probably don't work too well
They're designed right after a lot of deep sea and cave dwelling species. Plus they're fucking huge/tall, well beyond what would happen naturally.

>Engineers are members of their race that have mastered the manipulation of organic matter, and they used this knowledge to alter themselves. Which is why they look different. They kept this knowledge from the general population and ruled over them as gods.

Literally Zardoz lol

They have different eyes you senile fuck

>Do we really want this?
I want Scott to retire before he starts making Gladiator prequels.

>Are they the same race as the engineers that fuse their bodies into their own cockpit with a feeding tube?
Maybe their biosuits can grow/adapt and it tried to cocoon the Engineer to preserve it?

pretty much

Repeat Aliens.

Ridley might even make a xeno queen in the next movie, but make it look different to claim ownership of it over Cameron.

pretty good in comparison. with what was established in prometheus, there was at least hope that they could've gone somewhere interesting with the story

but it seems like they've fucked it up with covenant pretty much

David's ship crashed at some point so maybe those that weren't black-goo'd did put up a fight

The space jockey in Alien was clearly meant to be a fossilized skeleton by Geiger, not a space suit.

>I want Scott to retire before he starts making Gladiator prequels.

I want Ridley Scott to die before he makes a Kingdom of Heaven sequel where all Christians are evil

Again, the difficulty in executing that original design six years after they made Prometheus on several dozen extras for a five second shot is probably more than Scott cared to overcome.

Not only that but the fossil in Alien is actually much larger than the engineer in Prometheus. Don't believe me go back and watch the scene in Alien.

Ridley "tfw to intelligent" wouldn't purposefully not include it if he cared enough to put in female engineers ((that almost look identical to the males))

Anyone else upset that Shaw was killed of screen? David kept saying how she was kind to him, then he murders and butchers her and we never learn why...

...

Because David is fucking insane, he's a robot who thinks he has feelings.

>Unless they just cheaped out in production
I mean, did you not notice how shitty the cgi was, too?

I have a similar but simpler theory:

We saw in Prometheus that humans evolved from engineer DNA, the same deal happened on this planet, however the resulting species was closer to the engineers than the humans were. The engineers maybe stuck around along enough to be worshipped as gods, which is why they rejoice when they see the ship, they believe its the gods returning to them. They could also be less advanced depending on either them just being an inferior species or them being newer than humans.

Where did the eggs that david has come from? I thought a queen laid them? How is he going to make more aliums with just 2 face huggers? I don't understand how they're suppose to reproduce now.

Manlet engineer

It was just their backwater version of that flyover state you never heard of before.

This movie's budget was $50 million+ less than Prometheus.

Yeah but cheaping out on an important scene when all they have to do is give them a bluish tint and semi-translucent

>purposefully
This is the problem, you're setting your expectations for him too high at this point.

Listen to his commentaries, there's a lot of "looks close enough" and "we shot this ahead of schedule and under budget!"

He feels emotions but doesnt understand them the same way we do
Plus Shaw looked pretty sick from the flashbacks, im guessing the black goo was still infecting her she contracted it after having sex with whats his name last film.

I dont think she was killed and butchered.
David experimented on her with the goo, ALIVE, for a long, long time.
Her body is not in an advanced state of decay. It's possible that she died very shortly before the movie starts.
